Code of Conduct
Please don't use the project to harass anyone uncomfortable with inbreeding. People are going to be uncomfortable with this. Allow them to keep their distance.
Please refrain from RPing romantic involvements with this family in the main thread.
Some artists will be uncomfortable with inbreeding. We ask that members refrain from posting breedings run primarily by an artist who has requested to be kept out. Please check here for a list of colourists with known preferences.
Please refrain from mocking real life inbreeding or groups associated with inbreeding in real life.
Please don't call this an incest herd. This is not a support of incest.
If you take issue with this project or any of its members please PM or DM one over three, Phailninja or Mindsend. We are always open to hearing concerns and feedback.
This herd is for having fun. Please do your best to be mindful of others!

Breeding As per shop rules breeding with siblings, parents, ancestors, aunts, and uncles is forbidden. Cousins are fine.
Breeding among islanders can only happen between same species.
Breeding outside the family can't happen in canon UNLESS the family member in question permanently leaves the island.
With that and the new unlimited breeding rules in mind, we strongly discourage you from doing non-canon "For looks/Doppelganger breedings (Doppelbreedings)" or entering Crackships with soquili from this project, if just for the sake of not complicating the Main Family Wreath any more than it already is. (Goats and Wolves are okay). It is not against the rules, and we cannot enforce it, but we wish to remain courteous and leave the main soquili project as uninvolved with Mainland as possible due to how uncomfortable it can make some of the members of our community. Exception to rule: All owners agree to treat resulting child as a legitimate first generation with no throwbacks/Only non-islander throwbacks, including on the main wreath.
If a Colorist in the list below is stated as Uncomfortable with the project and are the soul colorist of a raffle, please do not enter. If they are unknown in comfort level, please either ask them first or avoid. If those who are uncomfortable are in a group breeding with those who are comfortable, you may enter.
Wishing Stars may only be entered with others of the same species (Soquili (any base) x Soquili (Any base), Goat x Goat, Wolf x Wolf) that live canonly on the island. Romantic pairs with others on the island that do not fit this match are considered legitimate couples, but should not enter the wishing star (For the same reason as Doppelbreedings and Crackships) Exception to rule: All owners agree to treat resulting child as a legitimate first generation with no throwbacks/Only non-islander throwbacks, including on the main wreath..

This list does not contain names of shop customers who may be uncomfortable with the project. For this reason, please contain the majority of Utloyi related conversations to the Utloyi guild and discord.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
Q: .... Why do these projects exist?
A (Maths): Because I was uncomfortable with the shop allowing cousins to breed and decided to make the most ridiculous example of why I was unhappy with it that I could. Turns out taking 4 near identical horses and breeding them into more complex forms is kind of funny and it helped me (and others) come to terms with the new rules. Who would have thought?
A (Mind): Because SCIENTIFIC CURIOSITY. Also they're pixel ponies, wolves, and goats, so they're not getting into the main stock so it's harmless stupidity. Also I grew up with a game called "Creatures" where you had a stock of 6 Norns (3 male and 3 female) and the whole point was to teach them, breed them, and random genetics will mutate in them and you'd slowly populate the little looping world they were on with them. I was fascinated with how random colors could pop up occasionally, like a kid coming out bright pink cause of a mutation twisting the hue slider of the sprites. This is basically a more hands on variant of that.

Q: I have a cert, now what?
A:OKAY SO, rules for each one are different, so be sure to read their main threads. But one thing that is a common thread with all of them is they can't breed with other species (So Ponies with Ponies, Goats with Goats, and Wolves with Wolves), can only breed with members of their species that actively live on the island, and will, at some point, eventually end up having to breed with a cousin.
Q: What's unique about the Moon Herd? (ponies)
A:Moon's:
The Moon herd is the Soquili herd. The first three gens are without twists, variants, or throwbacks.
First cousins however are good to go and right away can head out and breed with each other with all the twists, variants, throwbacks, and whatever goodies the breeding allows. Want to enter a wishing star or breed boys with boys? TOTALLY WORKS. Can end up as any soquili breed (Soquili, Usdia, Seathi or mer) Any wishing stars that end up in familiar breeds will be born mainland and NOT considered family members.
Soquili have no other choice but cousins if they wish to breed, so there is no avoiding it. The goal is to see just how different these identical white ponies end up looking.
Q: What's unique about the Rakari? (wolves)
A:Rakari wolves
The wolves are the LEAST Inbred option of the island, we are getting all the first gen's bred first (the fives males with five females, then the remaining ten females with two males of each litter of second gens). Then the third gen can only breed with second and third gen's that they are NOT Related to. This continues down each generation until they have no option to pick a cousin. At that point, they pick the one they have the LEAST amount of relatives in.
Once it becomes to the point where they share all 20 of the first generations of wolves in their lines, they continue picking wolves they are least related to. farthest up they can. This is the one that mimics more how (most) Humans themselves live: avoiding close relations, but in the end, we're all related at some point, it just tends to be distant. We want to see how one tribe with limited numbers's family tree ends up.
Wolves can only breed with those of their own generation, or the generation above or below them (So a gen 7 wolf can breed with gens 6, 7, and cool . Males and females are what's allowed to breed together (but same sex couples can enter wishing stars. Any kids that end up NOT Wolves from wishing stars however will not be born on the island or be canonically related to them.)
TWISTS, THROWBACKS, AND VARIANTS ARE ALLOWED
Q: What's unique about the Yahn Weya? (goats)
A:Yahn Weya Goats
The goats don't give a damn about generations, and can breed however they want until they either can't (Due to everyone breeding with the same damn goats) or they run out of unrelated goats and have to pick related goats (or could pick cousins right away. We're easy about that)
HOWEVER They can't have twists, variants, or throwbacks: Their whole point is to see if they end up developing an island "look" and whether or not certain traits vanish over time. Which genes end up living? While ponies are "how different can they get", the goats are "How same can they end up"
They can breed male/male, female/female, poly, and in wishing stars. However Any kids that end up NOT Goats from wishing stars however will not be born on the island or be canonically related to them. No ponies, no wolves, no birds. Only goats.
Q: How do I find out when things are happening here?

Q: OOOO I wanna get my Moon an Alpaca Familiar!
A: Whoa slow down there! The species allowed on the island right now are super limited. Please familiarize yourself with the allowed breeds
Q: I Have a goat/Wolf/Soquili... Can they get stranded on the island and join a tribe?
A: Nope: we're trying to avoid interacting too much with mainland in general, and we're not going to introduce FRESH BLOOD from other family lines into the island: It'd mess up the experiment! The only way a fresh member could join the wolves/goats is if one of the UNBRED first gen's quit the project and take their goats with them. THEN an unbred first gen with no other mainland connections of the same species could be added to replace the character in canon, having lived their their whole life.
Q: Is this 'project' why the shop rules were changed to allow inbreeding?
A: No. The project is a reaction to the rule. Many members of staff were in favour of 6-8 generations between last relation but cousins was adopted for purely practical reasons.
Q: What practical reasons could possibly justify inbreeding?
A: Soquili is a huge shop and the larger it gets the more difficult it becomes to track family lines. Even cousins can look so different that if you're not actively following the family you might not realize that the ponies you're trying to breed are in fact related. This made it hard on both staff and customers who can't reasonably track such an immense population. It's far easier to know your parents, ancestors, aunts/uncles, and siblings.
Q: Inbreeding results in horrible mutations! Why would you promote this?
A: We're not. This is a fantasy setting entirely separated from life's harsh reality and fully controlled by the staff and artists. Nothing can be passed onto a horse without direct intent... so it won't be. These are imaginary horses, they can only be harmed if we decide they are harmed.
Q: Still! I don't want any of my horses or even their children to be involved in this. How do I keep them out?
A: Worry not! Every part of the project and the imaginary Utloyi island was set up to keep the Moons in, and outsiders out. We don't want outside characters breeding into the various families on the island as it would disrupt or destroy the goals we're working toward. If you wish to stay separate from the island then simply don't join. We won't hold it against you!
Q: Hold on, but what about spirit breedings? Flings?
A: It's true. We can't dictate what people do with their breedings. We've set up rules but all we can do is ask people to respect them. At the time of writing none of our lines have leaked onto the main island but this will not necessarily always be the case. We ask that people who breed outside of the island do not use throwbacks but this isn't something we can enforce.
Q: Wait! So what if people ignore your requests?
A: We will have to deal with that when it happens. If you have any suggestions please contact one over three, Phailninja, or Mindsend. Please just keep in mind that we have to follow the rules of the shop and we can't force anyone to do anything.
Q: How is the island isolated?
A: It's too far from the shore for most winged horses to fly too. It's surrounded by deep, food poor waters most aquatics wouldn't bother to cross. And if they did make it? The habitable part of the island is inside a dead volcano. From the outside it appears that the island is a desolate mountain devoid of life. The same challenges face anyone attempting to leave. They would first need to scale the mountainous rim, then find a way to swim or fly to shore. One population stumbling across the other is unlikely and would require intentional effort to meet.
Q: What about Darwin?
A: Darwin is (currently) an NPC mer who lives in the waters outside the island. He's a bit of a gag character based on the fact that Utloyi acts as Soquili's own little Galapagos. He might know a way to get in and out but if he does he won't be sharing any time soon.
Q: I have an idea for a project! How do I get started?
A: Talk to Mindsend, Phailninja, or one over three. We'll have to approve it if it's going to have a home on the island. We're most interested in ideas that are unique compared to the ones currently running.
