FAQQ: Where did the First Moons come from? A: They believe they were born on the island, made by the moon in the sky. Like first men and women in many creation stories, despite being made by the same being they are not siblings. In actuality... While I wont give out spoilers here, they come from four unrelated families from mainland, and yet their baskets ended up in the bushes of the soul beach of Utloyi Island. Q: How did their hair get braided if the island has no humans, river otters, raccoons, or pretty much most animals with fingers? Do the Ra'kari wolves help? A: There are some Mock-gulls, a Mutated form for seagoing Raven, that seemingly got frustrated with how tangled and knatted their hair was getting and now groom it for them, weaving their hair with their beaks into braids and securing it with some white feathers -- Either naturally white or bleached white by the sun. In addition, some of the more Iguana, Gila Monster and Tegu like lizard familiars, and other native birds of the island such as the owls, falcons, and quetzals, may form bonds with individuals and assist. As time goes on, the Ra'kari might try to make an alliance with the larger soquili, and members that join the herd would help with grooming, but currently the wolves are an unknown to the soquili, and the soquili unknown to the wolves. Q: Why are all the starting members named Moon? A: Its the only word in common they know.. Though they don't know how they learned it. It formed the start of their main language of Moonsong.

Foundations of The Moon
Four young soquili, unrelated to one another but similar in appearance, find their baskets stranded upon the shore of the Island, unaware of the world beyond this isolated and distant island. With only each other, the four set forth to make their place within the world.  Name: Moon Enunciation: Stronger focus on the 'o', elongated sound with a higher pitch, voice almost wavers in the middle of the name Alphanuma Code: 1A Short Summary: Moon is highly social. He feels a very strong bond to his other Moons, and hates being alone and apart from them. The only exception to this is when something is troubling him, in which case he seeks out the real Moon's guidance on his lonesome (although he does not believe he is alone in this case, as he believes the Moon to be one of them - just as alive as he and his comrades are). As he was the first one to escape from the baskets, he has taken to looking after the others, and is very protective over them. His favourite activity is taking midnight strolls, especially with Moon 1B, whom he feels a closer connection to, although he loves all his fellow Moons regardless.  Name: Moon Enunciation: Unknown Alphanuma Code: 1B Short Summary: Name: Moon Enunciation: Mu'oon Alphanuma Code: 1C Defining Trait: Paws at the earth frequently. Babbles Short Summary: Has a tendency to babble sounds and make words. Sweet natured, curious, and somewhat shy because of his habit of being more vocal making him stand out. He has a harder time fully making himself understood in Moonsong than the other three, though still seems fluent. Prone to wandering off alone so he can babble and name things without bothering the others.  Name: Moon Enunciation: Unknown Alphanuma Code: 1D Short Summary:

Traditions, Religions, and Rituals TraditionsBecause the herd is fresh, there are no traditions. This may change. ReligionsCurrently the idea of religion not being a thing, there currently isn't any specific religion -- each Moon has their own personal beliefs, and may discuss it best as they can with their shared language, but there is currently no specific religion. This may change. All however agree that The Moon is what created the first four were made by the Moon. Moon [1A]: The Moon Is Our Destiny
Moon's beliefs fall on the far more literal side of the scale. He believes the Moon to be his literal parent, that they were all formed and created deep within its belly, and that they fell to the ground within the strange baskets that held them. Their descent would have been slow, gentle, much like snowflakes drifting down from high in the sky. It is his belief that they too are of the Moon, and that once they reach a certain stage in their lives they will swell up and rise into the sky, to take their place as a real Moon up above. Not everyone will be worthy of rising up, after all there is currently only one Moon up there, but he believes they all have the power to ascend. He believes mares to hold a closer rank to ascension, as they swell up when they are pregnant, much like he believes they all will one day.
In addition, he believes it is the role of the Moon to guide and protect those below. He trusts it implicitly, often following the path of its gentle light, believing that following it is the best route for his life. In times of doubt or fear, he will always look up to it for strength and guidance, and believes all the answers he seeks are somewhere hidden in its glow.

Moon [1C]: Origin Belief
Mu'oon, unable to express his beliefs and compare them to the beliefs of the others due to the simple language of Moonspeak (And Aab Un being only truly spoken by him at the time) and thus unable to compare his beliefs with the other four founders of the island soquili, believes that the soquili on the island were spun by the different phases of the moon like how a spider spins a web -- Namely the Waxing and Waning Quarter and Gibbous, as well as the Full Moon, and that each phase and color of the moon is a different god or goddess... But part of the same whole as well, creating one great spirit. Being made of different phases is why the four were all unrelated despite being created by the Moon.
Mares tend to be closer to the Full Moon, and Males are closer to the new, but due to their own glowing forms, it was clear the stallions were made in either Quarter or Gibbous moons rather than new, young/old, or crescent, while mares were made in Gibbous or full moons -- (Phails) Moon was the first mare to become pregnant, thus she was clearly made by the full moon, and since mares could get pregnant, they clearly had to be rounder than stallions!
To him, the distant snow capped mountains of the east are sacred -- he can only just barely see them on good days while on top of the step pyramid he goes to to make predictions, thinking that the snow capped mountains are where the moon takes from the sky -- a sacred and unreachable land, where the moon rests or leaves pieces of themselves.

RitualsRituals tend to be personal, though may be shared with other members of the herd. Over time, these may change and develop, and more may be added communally as more individuals take up a specific belief. There are a few that are uniform however. The Wishing Moon
It is thought that when the Moon is no looking for her child, and her child shines bright beside her, it will listen to wishes -- something discovered when one of the Moons noted the unusually bright light beside the moon of the wishing star, and studied it out of curiosity, musing various things and wishing that their favorite fruit tree had ripe fruit, but it was out of season. The next morning, their tree not only had fresh blooms and new fruit blooming, but much of the fruit had ripened out of season. The next time the Glowing light showed up next to the moon, it was pointed out to the others and they made wishes themselves. While not all of them were granted, a few were.
And thus, in their moon centered thinking, the light of the wishing star was the child of the Moon, and the moon was usually too busy looking for them to pay attention to the wishes of the Moonherd when they were away.Mu'oon: Predictions from the Rising MoonCurrently Moon [1C] (aka Mu'oon) goes up to the top of a an ancient and mostly overgrown step pyramid when able left behind by a culture and species long extinct on the island to watch the Moon awaken. Often times this is used as a way to predict weather for the next day. From this location, on days where the weather allows it, he can sometimes see the two highest peaks of the island to the far east. Its rare due to humidity and distance, but usually a good omen when it happens, at least to Mu'oon.
