I personally got sent an invite in after Phail and Math's had thought of the idea of the Moon herd, since I was a world builder, I could make a setting where it made sense. And I was thrilled about the idea because it was an interesting experiment in art AND science, and reminded me a bit of my Creature's 1 Days (An old computer game where you bred "Norns" and they all looked the same and only had six eggs to start with so anything that happened to make them look different were random mutations, and what norns managed to breed and what traits from the norns managed to pass. Norns had haploid dDNA, so there was nothing negative about inbreeding, and really you couldn't control who bred with who so I eventually gave up trying to stop them unless they had an obvious malformation, sometimes right out of the first gen egg. Mutations were mostly just hue changes, but they had four to five 'breeds' of norn, so this project was norns to an extreme level.)
In the progress building the island, the wolves and goat projects came to mind. I had become, at this point, one of the founders of the island.
Genetics has fascinated me, and evolution/selective breeding has always been interesting to study, how dinosaurs became birds in the long span, and how Cat and Dog breeds are made irl. It's one of the reasons why Cuauhcoatl's main focus of study is how breeds of soquili came into existence. With this island being unconnected to main land in any way, and it being JUST ART, nothing bad happens from the inbreeding unless it's rped: Twists happen just the same on the main land as it does the Island, so they can't be considered mutations caused by inbreeding. And trying to see if the goats get a "Breed standard" Like how Dalmatians look like Dalmatians or Tigers look like Tigers is cool, and then seeing just how different and how complex avoidance family trees can be with the wolves, and just how different they look as generations go down and if family "lines" Develop.. And Where the Moon's go from "Solid White ponies with Braided hair"

For me, I had talked with Maths, Mind, and Phail about the idea before it was really a widespread idea. This was over a couple different streams, one of which where Maths actually drew a diagram of how long it would take for four unrelated ponies to become fully related. I love playing with genetics and I love seeing what comes through after several generations of skips. The Rakari wolves and the Yahn Weya goats were intriguing to me as we are going for different goals with all three. This is the best way to play with genetics without actually putting real creatures through anything. Genetics fascinate me.
I think mainly my secondary love of the Island has come from just watching as the lines intertwine, twist, and curve around. I love seeing how far we can push and how far different things can go. The fact that there are other people around me that share my love is just amazing to me and I don't feel as much of a genetics nerd as I would have otherwise <3

When I found out about it in staff chat on AIM. I liked that idea and was given my first wolf from the project. It is an interesting idea and happy I joined. I love watching it grow.

It started because of my disgust over the cousins bring allowed to breed rule. While i understood why the change would be good in practicality... It just really bugged me.
I made a family tree as a bit of a tongue in cheek joke pointing out an extreme example of what this kind of rule could lead too... Then just sort of started laughing because of how ridiculous it was. The original plan had used four hyper edited horses, but I quickly realized that with the unrealistic breedings at Soq (and the b&c at large) generic diversity would quickly grow out of a line with no unique traits.
Phail is a total enabler and so we gave them the working title of tabula rasa and just started joking about it on and off. It really surprised me how many people said they'd be down to participate so eventually we started it up.
Originally world building was intended to be an open between the founders but mind took off so phail and I sort of just decided to let hey have free reign... I honestly don't know what she's doing to our kids most the time but I'm sure they're fine.
They're fine, right?

I love the concept, I love science and art and genetics and it's all right here. I'm fascinated by these lines and can't wait to see what will come of them.

UniWingdFox, I have to blame for my first step into the project. I really loved the fact that the project existed honestly. My entire fascination spans in genetics for all the inhabitants of the island and how far they intertwine with each species.
Once I joined I became inherently hooked with how each generation changes from one another in species, coloration, or overall appearance, attitude, beliefs etc. I also adore the wolves with their Tapir ranching since its unique to the island and overall growth in the wolves' natures.
What can I say? I'm hooked.

For me it was all about the genetics of it. I used to play a game called the Order of the Griffin and I've been hooked on genetics since that long since defunct game.
Tefla gave me an invite and I'm happily embedded here now and hope to see how the project unfolds and what kind of traits show up where. <3
