So, if there are any GoT fas out there, you may have heard that Georgr R.R. Martin has been trying to convince HBO to let him end the series as a feature length film; in part so that he can finish writing the books before the show ends. Not all of the fans are as big on the idea as he is. Have any thoughts on this?

im lukewarm on that idea because i feel like thatd be rushing towards an ending if that made sense. I like the episodes honestly because it gives time for character development within the show and lets you really enjoy the characters (before he slaughters them) and the land he has created in West Eros. That said, if they announced that the final 3 episodes were going to be combined into a feature film that i could watch at AMC in iMax by paying 20$ or so. Id be a happy camper and that movie would sell out everywhere

Hm. I hadn't thought of how quickly they'd have to get everything done in a movie. Though, I feel like if the episode focused on some sort of final battle, they could pull it off. They've spent enough time developing the characters by now to call them 'done' in a sense, save for the obligatory changes that would have to happen in any other movies. My main concern is how they would manage to make a movie that people could watch without either spoiling the series nor sacrificing too much potential.

wait, a movie as in... the featuring in cinema kind, or pretty much just a two hour long ep? if the former, doesn't sound too ideal for me. if grrm needs that extra time so he can finish the book series without rushing, then i'd say do whatever you need, but it seems inconsistent (finishing a tv series with a movie?). i don't know how they're going to work out the details, like if they want to first release it in a cinema, how would people who are unfamiliar with the series be able to catch up with the plot? and i agree that the pros of a tv series is that there's more time for unrushed character development, not sure if they'll be able to pull it off nicely in a movie. thanks for sharing this little tidbit. o:

I could so see this being a movie still. My dad is into watching Games Of Thrones pretty cool.

I think with this show, it would be best to keep in mind that there's really no explicit difference in making a double-length episode (which is hardly unheard of) and making a feature length film. I really doubt that it would be released in theaters, or any such thing as that, as is the conclusion to which many posters here appear to have jumped.
