Seven nodded, "Sure thing." he walked forward and stated the heavy lifting as he made sure not to run into Ashe. Once they were done he stepped back with a blink, "Oh man...that's still there?"

On the wall behind a ruined cabinet. It was a pup's painted paw print, a much smaller one just beneath it. Seven smiled, "A prank my Pa played on Ma...he had me and baby brother put our paw prints on the wall she had just finished painting."

Ashe didn’t waste time getting right in there with him hauling stuff around- let it never be said that she was afraid to get her hands dirty. They did a pretty good job working around each other as it turned out, and she was pleasantly surprised by how quickly they managed to move the bulk of the debris. A few things she started to set aside in another pile as they worked, if she deemed them worthwhile- drawer and cabinet handles, any shelves that were mostly intact, a few assorted plumbing fittings that she managed to pull off the mangled sink and drain, the aforementioned countertop pieces. It was surprising sometimes how much could be pulled out of even a room that looked as bad as this. But it was knowing how to find everything that could possibly be saved that set a good salvager apart from an average one- and Ashe would never settle for being less than the best she could be.

Though, some things here still had value other than the monetary kind, as it turned out. She let out an absolutely delighted laugh as he explained the uncovered prints, and knelt in front of the wall to get a closer look. “Oh my god, dude, that is adorable. I bet you were the cutest little punk.” She splayed her own fingers out on the wall next to the old paint, comparing the size- Ashe wasn’t especially tall (definitely not without her heels), and had paws sized accordingly, but there was still quite a big difference between her dusty, gloved fingers and the little prints immortalized in paint.

A bit of a sad tilt had edged into her smile as she continued to consider the 'vandalized' wall, though her voice didn't sound any different as she continued. “Must be nice, to turn up some good memories unexpectedly like that.” It was funny, sometimes, what ended up surviving the flames. She came across things like this sometimes- not pawprints specifically, but photos, or other things that were obviously sentimental- in crumbling and derelict places she was picking through. If it was possible, she'd usually pull them out of danger, and set them somewhere visible on the outside of the building- just in case someone came back looking for them.

Seven shrugged, "I lost track of my little brother when all the chaos went down. I bet by now if he's alive, he probably hates me. He's more like our Pa than I am after all..." the male shifted debris around before sighing, "Well we're almost done here."

She honestly wasn’t sure how to respond to that- was having family that hated you better or worse than having none at all? Having only had experience with one side of that, she really couldn’t say. Her voice was notably quieter when she next spoke, still looking at the tiny prints next to her hand. "Sorry man, didn’t mean to bring up anything heavy. Can’t imagine what that must be like." She shrugged apologetically as she stood from her crouch, and hoped that she hadn’t managed to upset him horribly- she really was garbage at this sort of thing.

He was right on the other point though- they'd made pretty quick work of clearing the debris from near the walls, and it didn’t take her long to scuttle silently around the room and take the last of the measurements she needed. She returned to where she'd thrown her coat briefly to scribble the numbers down, then headed back over to stand slightly hesitantly at Seven's side. "Well," she started, still sounding rather more subdued than she had all day. "We made some good progress- what do you think so far?"

(asdf I am sorry this took so long it has been a long week. v.v;; I dunno if we want to keep going on this one for a while, or wrap it up in a few posts and then do another sometime so Ashe can come back with some materials in tow? Up to you. 83)

The male nodded, "Damn good. thanks for stopping by, I hope to see more help from you in the future. Maybe next time I can pay you upfront."

The male stood as he looked around the now, more clear, kitchen. He smiled...yeah he felt good about this. He nodded to the female, "So...what now?"

Ashe would of already gotten her payment, plus whatever she picked up from here.

She grinned up at him, and held out her hand for another shake. "Hey man, it's a pleasure. Give me a ring any time you need a hand." A moment later, she produced a business card from one of her belt pouches and handed it to him- in addition to the PO box she'd mentioned earlier, there was also a phone number- since he hadn't been the one who contacted her originally, she figured he'd need her contact info if they were going to finish this thing.

As for what now, she had this covered- her mind was already running through some possibilites, contacts she had and stuff sitting in her stash that might work out for him. "Well, now that I have some measurements, I can figure out exactly how much floor you're going to need and hopefully get some options for you. That's probably the first thing to take care of, anyways." Getting the floors and walls fixed up would have to come before pretty much anything else, but she'd still be keeping an eye out for appliances and such in the mean time.

"I've still got some stuff to take care of today, and I'll start putting out some feelers to find you some floor, so is there any time that's good for me to come back and poke through the rest of the building, or is whenever good?" As she asked, she headed back to her coat and pulled it on, remaining near the kitchen entrance and tilting her head towards the door in a silent question- she wasn't sure if he'd want to walk her to the door, or let her find her own way out. It didn't really matter to her either way honestly, but some people didn't like letting a near-stranger wander through their house, and she could get that.

He shook her hand again, truly grateful that she had come to help. She must be a busy person in her line of work. He nodded, "Yeah...I will." He took the card and placed it in his pocket before looking around. He chuckled at her, "Anytime is good. Be careful, the back of the building has nearly fallen completely out. The stairs are nearly collapsed in several hallways so there's that."

She nodded, appreciating the open-ended schedule. She never really knew when work was going to come up, so having the freedom to poke through the place at her leisure was a luxury for sure. “Sounds good then. I’ll still make sure to give you a heads up whenever I’m going to show.” Being mistaken for a burglar wasn’t her idea of a good time- she’d been there, done that. Not keen to repeat the experience.

She took note when he mentioned the state of the structure, though to be honest it didn't really concern her- that sort of thing pretty much came with the job, most of the time. “Thanks for the warning- nothing I’m not used to though.” She’d wiggled and squirmed her way into some places way more than half-collapsed before- her size had to come in handy for something, she figured. And an extra hole in the floor here and there just made it easier to lower things, really.

After one last quick look around to make sure she wasn’t forgetting any of her stuff, she shot Seven one last grin and a casual sort of salute, and headed out for the street, mind already running through a checklist for the rest of her day.

Calling this one done then- up to you if you want to do one last little post for Seven or not. 83
