Timmy turned to stare blankly at Shikaku. "Come on, no need to talk in code out here. I know you are excited and all but there is noone to hear. Besides, I thing the giant Cat is near. There is nothing to fear. Just look here. Or I will kick you in the rear." It took Timmy a moment to catch his thoughts back up, once he started rhyming it took some effort to stop the cycle. He didnt always bother, but this was important and Timmy had no idea how to hunt the giant creature."Anyways, look. Tracks, obviously belonging to those giant cats." He pointed at some rather large hooved tracks before smiling and looking back at Shikaku. "You've been trying to get me to hunt with you since I caught that squirrel, but i dont actually know anything about hunting. So what's next?" The squirrel had been caught in an accidental trap intended to serve as a cooler, to keep his lunch in. He had left it in the sun with a sandwich, to test its cooling abilities, when a squirrel tried to sneak into it. The squirrel never made it back out, and while the sandwich was inedible, the squirrel was delicious. Shikaku said something about how Timmy sucked at being sneaky, but that he had a tendency to cause havoc even when he left. It wasn't the first time someone recommended that Timmy learn to trap. Even Rin said something to him once, though he wasn't sure if it was an insult or complement.

It was then that Timmy started looking at the bamboo stalks, it seemed they tended to vary in properties, some were more flexible than others, some stronger and such. Timmy had made many toys using the bamboo, so he was beginning to know it quite well. Then he turned back toward Shikaku, waiting for an answer. "Do cats eat Bamboo? I think something does, but cant remember what. Maybe we can bait a trap with bamboo!! Or perhaps they like MEAT in which case we wont even NEED bait!" It suddenly dawned on Timmy that his voice had been rising since he left the village, and he had scared off most of the wildlife within the bamboo forest. "oops, i suppose i should be quiet. we're hunting cat!" He also realized he wasnt actually listening for a response from Shikaku. He had gotten in 'trouble' with his brother in the past, when he tried to interrupt Timmy and gotten completely ignored.

((Yes, bamboo works great as bait. especially in the middle of a bamboo forest. Hope you dont mind i took some liberties regarding your character, not that is outside the norm between these two.))

➸➸➸ --- ➸➸➸

Rhodes came back with a large assortment of items in his arms. Heading straight for his home out in the forested area. He gave a nod as per usual when he is returning to his home and would start towards the bamboo forest in front of him.

The trip would give him tings to think about. Outside of the wondrous idea that he can study some more, Rhodes wondered what all he could do with his abilities upon learning chakra. Comparing himself to the other students, especially that mesomorph prone solider, Rhodes wouldn't be as good in the more physical work. Taijutsu never was his thing. He could barely hit a tree without coddling his had and cursing himself to damnation for thinking he was Hercules. Also judging by how quickly some of them got the hang of Ninjutsu, Rhodes doubted he'd get to outdo them in chakra manipulation and the tiers that lay underneath that umbrella.

The only thing Rhodes could actually seek as a plausible clause, is to support. Maybe even use the fact that he's always that "invisible number" of the group and exploit it. He's heard throughout the villages of some bandits being able to get the jump on their enemies because they are so stealthy. Maybe that would be his cup of tea... well that an inventing of course.

But such thoughts were a bit further in the future. Right now, Rhodes probably needed to start focusing on manipulating this thing called "chakra", and see just how good he was before doubting himself. Putting a bit of haste to his steps, Rhodes would head into the bamboo forest for his home.

Shikaku stared as Timmy verbally bowled right over him, his mouth slowly opening and closing as he tried to pull together the right words to bring Timmy to his senses. As the older boy kept talking and moving about, displaying his utter lack of knowledge in tracking, Shikaku's heart gradually slowed down to a normal pace. As Timmy knelt beside the tracks of what appeared likely to have been a rather small deer (Though still possibly an adult), a smirk attempted to crawl onto his face, before he forced it back down again. If Timmy caught him smiling at his inability to do this alone, he'd likely run off on his own anyways just to prove him wrong, and die before Shikaku could get help.

When the other boy started pondering whether or not the panthers would be baited by bamboo though, Shikaku covered his face, trying to rub an approaching headache away. "Gorillas Timmy. Gorillas eat bamboo." he responded, but he doubted the other boy even heard as he kept talking, and once more cause Shikaku's heart to skip a beat as he basically referred to himself as bait. He needed to stop him... Somehow... Well, this was all because he couldn't get the meditation down, right? Maybe...

"Timmy, stop!" he exclaimed, wincing a bit as his voice cracked, making the cry sound like he had in fact been about to cry. Frowning a moment he rubbed his eye, finding it slightly moist. Perhaps he had... "If you do this, you'll die. You'll die and I'll be alone again..." He didn't know why he said the second bit, but it fell out on it's own, his voice hitching a bit at the end. "We can find another way. Maybe I can help you! I... It worked for me..." a small smile managed to work itself onto his face at the once happy memory, even as a couple of tears worked their way free and ran down his face. "Maybe I can teach you. Just... Just don't try to fight something you can't beat." he pleaded, dropping to his knees and sitting on his heels as his legs lost their strength under the emotional pressure. He'd been alone before Timmy came along, and made his life infinitely better. He couldn't handle being alone again...

"You can always choose your actions...

The sun had moved beyond its zenith, which meant that Athran would have at most a few hours to find some prey to put on the table. A single shinobi guarded the entrance, or at least that was the only visible guard, and judging from his bored expression, it was not a duty he took much joy in. Athran stopped to explain that he was leaving to go on a short hunting trip, but would be back before sunset. The gate guard simply waved him through and jotted something down on a clipboard, clearly not interested in the goings on of an academy student. Shaking his head slightly Athran continued through the gate and into the heart of the bamboo forest, feeling slightly perturbed by the guard's apparent lack of interest in his job.

...what you can't choose are the consequences."

๑๑๑๑ Reaching the gates, Luo stopped at the entrance as the head of patrol bowed in front of him. "At ease captain. Tell me, do you have anyone keeping an eye on those two boys who left earlier? Based on tiger sightings, I'd hate for us to lose some kids due to our own incompetence." Near instantly, the man filled him in that they were under surveillance however intervening currently was unnecessary. "Well, that's good enough for me." Nodding and walking past the gates, Luo stopped for a moment and looked to his right at one of the posted guards.

"That boy, Athran. Did he come by here?" Nodding, the man pointed a bit towards the right, mentioning he seemed as if he were heading for the clearing Luo and Segare tended to use for sparring. Without another word, Luo nodded and response and continued his stroll, deciding whether or not he needed to catch something that night. Based on how he was storing his food however, his food didn't spoil quite as quickly as other people's meat tended to. He probably had a good day or two before he'd have to come out here and do some hunting of his own.

Avoiding the stalks altogether, Luo jumped on top of them and began to run at top speed once out of sight of the gate. It didn't take long for him to catch up to the boy, slowing down as he did so, watching him weave through the stalks as he seemed to be hunting something on his own. By the looks of it, it was either a young deer, or a female. "Kid's pretty good to have tracked a deer for this long without being noticed." Just as quickly as the thought entered his mind, it left. Taking more effort to further close the gap between, Luo kept his distance as he pursued the boy, curious as to how he'd make out of this hunt

[From Academy]

The sun was beginning to dip affording only a few more hours of light. Despite this the shinobi guarding the entrance observed an influx in movement through the gate consisting mostly of young individuals. He'd raise an eyebrow at the latest individual as he approached, black gi tied with a white belt and a simple rucksack held by a frayed strap over muscled shoulders. The look on the man's face was uncomfortably focus and if he registered there was a gate and a guard in his way he didn't show it. Far from disturbed, the guard waved the man through and lazily scrawled on his clipboard.

Enryu didn't have a particular location in mind, simply somewhere to 'calm his mind' and 'activate his chakra' as said in the little scroll in his sack. The fading light wasn't much of a concern to him with his sword sword sheathed at his hip. Any predators would be a welcome distraction from searching his feelings or whatever spiritual journey the shinobi of the village expected him to undertake.

๑๑๑๑ Rounding the hill towards the gates, Luo coud see the torches were being lit as the sky grew dimmer. As Athran responded, Luo nodded to affirm the agreement. He highly doubted the boy would turn down the offer, however pride was something that often held men back from achieving what was necessary. "Well then that's settled." Removing his hands from his pockets as he continued at the same pace, Luo sighed slightly as he watched the guards round up for report and shift changes. It wasn't the roundup that caused Luo to sigh, however it was the slight lapse in security that occurred during the roundup that did. He'd never been around to notice it before, but literally all the guards stood outside the gates in a circle and spoke to one another about the day's duties and affairs. It seemed somewhat lacking.

Waving somewhat casually towards the gate captain who was facing the path, perhaps one of three men who could actually see the surrounding area, the man cleared his throat and bowed his head slightly in order to acknowledge Luo's presence. It was then that the rest of the guards took note and filed out into a line, bowing deeper than the captain himself. Waiting until he was close enough, Luo muttered, "At ease guys." Hands behind backs, the men looked at the pair that came up from the forest, no doubt somewhat confused as to why Luo was accompanied by an academy student, and even more so why he had returned from hunting empty handed. Of course, the question as to why would not be asked.

"Captain, I noticed you guys were having your evening meeting. Just as well, I noticed the manner in which you have them. As a suggestion, you should have one pair of guards exchange information with each other at a time after having a personal meeting with you. Although I will admit it will be more time consuming, this will ensure that there is always a pair of posted guards on duty until the absolute moment shifts are exchanged. Take it into consideration will you?"

Presented as not a command but a suggestion, Luo left room for the man to perhaps come up with a method that was not as time consuming, however equally as effective. After all, what he said was something that had come to mind while walking up, and although his suggestions usually made the most sense even Luo knew that he wasn't always right, especially when an idea was created off the fly. Stating that he would certainly take the suggestion to heart, Luo nodded towards the captain muttering, "Thank you captain."

Beginning to continue into the village, Luo began to walk forward through the gates as the guards parted to each side with a bow as he walked by. Motioning for Athran to follow, he took a hard left into the residential area, closer to some uncleared bamboo thickets where his temporary home was.

"You can always choose your actions...

Reaching the gate as the sun began to set, Athran and Luo passed by as a group of guards began to assemble. Before they could make it through the gate, Luo stopped and waved toward one the shinobi who seemed to be giving a report. As the man looked towards Luo and bowed his head, the other guards turned around and noticed the Village Council-Member, and in turn gave in deeper bows. It was clear that these shinobi were not simply following protocol though, these shinobi, charged with the protection of the village, held a deep respect for their leader.

As Luo told them to relax, Athran noticed a few of the men's eyes shift towards himself, a look of confusion stamped on their face. Clearly Luo did not make it a habit of escorting academy students around the village. Glancing towards the young council-man as he offered the captain a few words of advice to improve the efficiency of the guard, Athran found that he was beginning to see Luo in a different light. True, he was a leader of the village, but he was not like the uncaring Daimyo who's rule Athran had lived under before coming here. Luo would not stand by and do nothing if his people were attacked, he would not let them starve if he had the resources to stop it. He actually cared about his people, not just the power that his position offered him.

As Luo finished and motioned Athran to follow him through the gates, the hint of a smile began to play on his lips. This was the sort of man Athran could follow. This was the sort of man Athran could be proud to call leader. Schooling his features back to their normal stoicism, Athran followed Luo as he turned towards a part of the residential zone that had been left mostly uncleared of bamboo.

Shikaku rolled his eyes as Timmy delivered his ultimatum for the second time. It was just like him to come up with an impatient plan like that. Well, hopefully he could get someone to part with some tags by then, because unfortunately, at least in this instance, Timmy was a person of his word, and would likely go through with it alone if Shikaku tried to stop him at this point. "Yeah, yeah, I'll see what I can do." he answered, rolling his eyes again and continuing towards the gates. Up ahead he could see that there was a bit of a gathering around the gate, and on further inspection, Luo himself had just passed though. Shikaku considered a moment catching up to the man and asking him about the tags, but shook his head, deciding not to just yet. While he rather liked the man, having found in their initial encounter that they had a fairly similar policy of dealing with the rest of the world, and the man always seemed rather encouraging, even when he completely failed in his lessons, bothering him at night, outside of class or office hours seemed like an excellent way to ruin whatever relationship they had, and turn his colder side on himself permanently. Not something he wanted to experience.

Biting off a yawn before it could escape, Shikaku quickened his pace towards the gate, speeding to a slight jog and waving at Timmy to hurry up. "Let's get home, I still need to get those rabbits prepared!" he called back, only now remembering the game he'd caught earlier, and hoping it hadn't spoiled already in the midday sun.

((so... i was watching the other thread and not my notifications so i didnt know you moved here. Sorry bout that.))

Timmy and Shikaku both walked calmly through the gates, and toward their home. It was clear that Shikaku did not like his proposition, but the young lad had learned at least some respect for the elder wisdom that Timmy possessed. clearly something had to happen soon, if this were any other operation Shikaku would be just as eager to pull out. They had long since learned the dangers of longer cons, from the carousel incident. Anything longer than a week was considered to long of a job. This was significantly more than one week, and while noone said it Timmy knew they suspected something. "What are you making with the rabbits?" Timmy smacked his lips hungrily. One of the major perks of living in the village was the food. It used to be quite difficult to hunt ones own food (beyond rats), and what they got at "home" wasn't always technically edible. While the boys did have iron stomachs, and could survive foods that might send others to the sick tent, they still knew what was good. Perhaps that was even their strongest trait. They had an appetite for better food. They always wanted something better. It almost occurred to Timmy that he was actually quite hard working, despite appearances, but it didnt occur to him because he was thinking about pigeons at the time. "Nayama, you think someone found those carrier pigeons? I think they may have starved by now. I kind of miss 'alexander the slightly tan except with a bit of black in his left wing'. We never got to finish the underground pigeon express system..."

    [Enter from Blacksmith]
Tomoki was looking at his new toys. He'd luckily managed to save up enough money to buy himself some hatchets, which was honestly his ideal weapon if he HAD to use a weapon. They were throwable, which even though he considered it cowardly, could prove useful if he needed to hit a target outside of his reach and that he couldn't make it to in time. Tomoki wondered just how fast he could actually throw these. He decided against it until he'd practiced a bit, and learned how to throw them perfectly before throwing them full force. He didn't want to lose them or accidentally break them or someone else.

Tomoki walked through the gates looking up from his hatchets to nod at the gate guard who looked him over quizzically for carrying two hatchets like he was going ot use them. Thinking about this, Tomoki flipped them around so that the heads were touching his forearm and only the knot at the end of the handle of the Hatchets stuck out. "Going to get bamboo, be back in a little while." Tomoki said with a smile, bending at the knees and launching himself, a smile on his face. He was finally able to bound across the landscape again. He didn't want to try in the village anymore because if he landed on someone, it'd probably hurt them. He wasn't exactly the most careful person when it came to jumping around.

The eldest student maintained his lackadaisical pace as the gates loomed ever closer. His large hands found a comfortable nest in his pockets, an unusual stance for a man who'd long preferred to have them folded over his chest. From the shaded depths of his deep set eyes, Enryu spotted a circle of youths discussing something animatedly at the gates. Despite his disinterest, their conversation became very audible as he approached the gates. An ear twitched at the mention of a 'construction mission' and he frowned visibly, recalling nothing that suggested any construction effort to have been erected when he left the camp.

It made sense that council was interested in solidifying the foundations of the camp behind a gathering of tents. The scale of the bamboo forest around the camp provided a natural shroud against prying eyes and allowed for more permanent structures to be erected. This phase in the shinobi camps growth suggested a likelihood for a actual settlement to be developed in the future. The concept of a hidden settlement wasn't exactly a new or revolutionary one but it differed greatly from the standard model of civilization in the current age. It suited the shinobi though, he thought.

Resolving to discover the site of this construction mission urged the former mercenary to adopt a more brisk pace. Moving at a very deliberate and rapid stride, Enryu would make short of the distance to the site as it's humble origins became apparent past the squat tents that speckled the camp.
