Send all of your gays to New Zealand! We've legalised gay marriage and we've figured out how to make vodka. Plus: No bears.

Miirru Miirru Yes but if the Olympics aren't good this year. They lose all that money to waste. I'm... not sure I understand what you mean. sweatdrop Could you elaborate? edit: Why is it posting me (Princess Piffle) as you, Miirru? eek First off you accidentaly edited my post haha. What I mean is that Russia spent millions and millions of dollars to host these events. Now the idea is that with all the festivities and merchandise, they should be able to make a profit. If no one goes. They lose millions of dollars.

Princess Piffle lets anybody capable to compete, and hasn't broken since the early A.D. It's beautiful and transgenerational. If anything, I would hope that the Olympics outshine Putin and his assholeish ways, that the athletes behave in such a way that he is brought to shame. That would be fantastic. What do you mean hasnt broken? The winter olympics never existed til 1924. And the summer ones ran from 776bc til 393ad and then had a break til 1894 (though there were sporatic attempts at multination games in the 1600s, but they didnt really work. The games of course took a break in 1940 and 1944 for obvious reasons. I LOVE the summer olympics which to me is the real olympics. The winter olympics I believe is like the smaller brother/sister of the Olympic Games, it has all the competition of the summer ones but is only based around snow sports, unlike the summer ones which is based around a lot more events 28 sports and a total of 41 disciplines and 306 events (201 countries) vs 98 events over 15 disciplines in 7 sports. (88 countries) Of course both include a lot of similaritys in competition, ones just much bigger with more competition and more international importance. Regardless I hope these run well, but not because of the host, but the spirit that carries all games. There was a important rugby tour in south africa in 81. (Invictus much). Anyway the key thing here was the plan to proceed based on "no politics in sport" Aka no matter whats happening in the world of politics sport can be blind and unite people, regardless of games of power. Hate the politics, not the country. I hope that this can only find a way to bring more people togather and raise awareness of basic rights.

The Whiskey Witch That made me laugh so much! rofl I wish I could tip in guilds. Trust me, as a captain of a specific guild for over 8 years I have wished for forum and guild alignment for years, and over the years there has been hope raised and crushed many times. (Especially when narumi said that guilds will effectivly be abandoned for updates due to not paying for themselves) though there has been hints at more updates since. But not holding breath over it. But yeah I really would love forum alignment here.

I guess what we can hope for is that at least some of that money goes towards education. Education is always a step in the right direction towards equality.

Hate the politics, not the country. I hope that this can only find a way to bring more people togather and raise awareness of basic rights. What I meant, I suppose, is that it's persevered. Despite any interruptions, the Olympics, as a whole, have continued on. It's an idea that began in the early AD and is still in motion to this day. Of course there are going to be hiccups in its history. razz That said, I agree with you on everything. The South African rugby tour was a huge political change, and it's the spirit of the games we should be supporting. The host country is unfortunate, but I don't think that it's going to ruin the games.

Being part of the LGBTQ community anywhere is difficult. Being LGBTQ in countries that openly suppress and threaten you for something that you cannot change is terrifying.
What bothers me the most about it is that we, as humans, can still look at another human being and think that they aren't deserving of respect and basic human rights because they're different.
