Oh, that's not what I meant, actually! Law graduates here also have to do an equivalent to their articles before being admitted, but by clerkship I meant internship or vacation work. In Australia, most of the law firms offer four to eight week positions over Summer and/or Winter, with the chance of being offered a graduate position at the end.
Ooh, yes yes. Many firms do that here as well, but mostly only for second years. There were a whopping....2 positions posted for first years, in the entire city. I've already been offered post-grad articling positions by two different lawyers (that I met at my gas station job, of all places!) so I'm not terribly worried about finding work after graduation. I won't need to rely on summer positions to be confident about securing an articling job, like many students do.
That said, I would really like to find a summer job this year that is at least
sort of related. I'd like to make a little bit more money, and also have something on my resume other than 'worked at a gas station for the past 6 years.'
