[name] Nolan Grey; whispered as the 'Bloody Baron' behind turned backs.
[dob] 01.01, aged 30 years
[gender] Male
[height] 6'2"
[weight] 220lbs

[hair] Red wine in the shelter of night, unusually dark and richly so, reaching the bottom of his shoulder blades at its longest; brushed backwards in a tight ponytail at the base of his skull if he's working, otherwise let down with a smaller ponytail gathered from the hair pulled back at his temples.
[eyes] Deep blue, the apex of his lids and upturned brows give him a perpetually sad expression.
[skin] Rather pale despite his time spent outside.
[other] His right ear is torn almost completely down the middle and his nose has a permanent hook from being broken. He has facial hair when on the farm, scruffy but mostly managed in a sort of goatee; he's only clean shaven when he has to attend matters of estate.

[job] Farmer, hunter, dredge overseer and slave tender; it's more complicated than it sounds.
[likes] Recounting the Tales of Old to the children, a hard day's work, a full dinner table (company and food), watching the sun set, swimming.
[avoids] Nobility, violence (though it finds him more often than not), dealing with women (especially if they weep easily), most law enforcement.
[hobbies] Inventing games out of chores, horseback riding, hunting, collecting relics of use, harassing snotty bypassers to lend to his reputation.

[nolan]
He'll never breathe a word of it or even admit it on a day of drunken stupor, but he is a really nice guy. Rarely will you meet someone as dependable as Nolan; though he may be stoic and not smile more than twice a year, he will bend over backwards to help those that have desire to help themselves. Do not mistake him as generous; he does not give out of the goodness of his heart or even give freely, but to those who work for him or who ply a trade with an unlucky streak. Any who stand with their hands out idly will likely have their wrists smacked. The lack of inherent 'good will towards man' has given him a morally grey outlook. Nolan will never hesitate to do what must be done, even if the cost is high. He believes he's doing what he does for a greater good and a future security, though it may be hard for most to see his point of view in the midst of turmoil. Nolan takes a great deal of pride in what he's accomplished, earning a sense of possessive outlook over what is 'his,' be it his land, his work or his 'people.' He can be extremely vicious if any of these things are threatened, and has earned his reputation rather fairly. Nolan's no-nonsense attitude and high expectations of others can give him an air of unfriendliness, but any who speak with him one on one may find he's a perfectionist with a passion for helping those in unfortunate circumstances. He doesn't speak of himself much, not in a personable manner (though he'll contently fill your ears with praise for those he looks after), so drawing a parallel between his mindset and himself can be trying at the very least.

[history]
When Nolan was seven, he disowned his well-respected noble family. His mother had passed in childbirth and taken what would have been his little sister with her; not even a month later, his father had brought in a new bride who was already far over a month pregnant. Disgusted even as a boy, he had thrown away his title and his inheritance to move in with his widowed aunt on her late husband's farmstead, even taking on her last name as his own. As a Hedge Witch, she taught him the Old Ways and the importance of balance in life; and he, stubborn and well-meaning, learned all he could while he started helping around the house and, ultimately, the farmland. He worked the farm without complaint or a backwards glance at the life he left behind, building the land with a mind for business and work ethic; his aunt was a wealthy and influential woman by the time she passed when he was fifteen. Inheriting the land and the workers, he began his legacy by investing almost every piece of coin he had into the land and the people that worked it.

During his visits into the city to sell the spoils of hunts and the wares from the farm, he'd often run into those who showed interest in his wares -- or more specifically, how he obtained them. Nolan began to take in folk from the city that didn't feel attached to the high life, hiring them and contracting workers out to earn their own keep on his farm. Business boomed, and before he knew it, he was employing enough people to be coined a Baron, working side by side with those he hired to ensure the success of his farm. Those who observed the tall man spiriting away individuals from the city and returning at times with some that were bloodied and near death (thieves and those with abusive tendencies were dealt with swiftly) earned him a reputation of being a 'Bloody Baron,' a slave trafficker, something he never bothered to refute. It kept most of the bandits out of his lands and kept those under his employ safe. Law officials visited him more than once on claims of slavery but when not a one of his workers would answer to the accusation and he could provide documentation for all of them...he was left in peace. Mostly.

Now, he still employs those who don't have a niche in the city or simply want to earn their way before they move on to bigger and better dreams; he provides a safe haven for street rats who want more than what life has given them and a place for those who have escaped slavery from other parts of the world to get their grounding. He's recently come into the title of Viscount on his father's passing, but without acknowledging the paperwork or even seeing to the assets, he's content to continue his life as the Bloody Baron.
