The delicate hues of dawn painted her eyelids in soft shades of oranges, pinks, and gold; arousing her from her slumber. Sweeping her tail away from her body she gracefully stood upon her four strong legs and stretched her neck out, feeling refreshed and blissful. Shaking her kaleidoscopic mane this way and that she stepped away from her makeshift bed and watched the sun rise further and further into the sky. It had only been about a fortnight since she left her parents and the only home she had ever known behind her, but already it felt as though years had gone by. Opaline had always been a strong and independent mare but she was not above feeling homesick. She missed her mother, father, and siblings very much, but as her mother had often expressed she needed to get out and explore the vast world around her. Ever since she was a foal she never had issues striking out on her own and going for walks, in fact, she rather enjoyed the exhilaration behind discovering new things. This world was so very large, and all of the creatures she had ever encountered only made up for a small percentage of what all was out there. They were but tiny grains of sand in an expansive desert with many mysterious places all contained within. Inhaling deeply she allowed her feet to carry her in whatever direction they pleased for when journeying this way one never really had a plan. She was intelligent enough to stay by water and always keep an eye out for shade or a shelter of sorts, but she never plotted out her journey beforehand. She knew her mother would be very proud of her for being as brave as her strong father was. She aspired to be like her father, she had always had an affinity for protecting others as he had, and though he was saddened to see her go he was understanding as to why she had to.
Never could anyone ever ask for a better family than the one she left back at home. Many would wonder why she ever left at all, seeing as many families were broken or mere shadows, but she had her reasons and she looked forward to the day she could return and tell her mother all of the wonderful things she had learned. Her adrenaline began working as she started thinking of all the adventures she would have. She would encounter many strangers and learn at least one thing from each of them, but she would also keep her excellent breeding and make her family proud. “Be good to me, oh winding road ahead.” She whispered gently. Everything was just beginning, and she was loving every moment of it.

"3... 2... 1... Go!" A young kilen shouted. Little kilen dashed across the meadow, making gleeful and joyous noises, followed by their new friend, a kirin who was not quite as agile and fast as them. Nonetheless Opaline was not a sore loser, and was always ready for another race. She was enjoying her short rest from adventuring and wandering along through Theia.
A few days ago, Opaline was making her way towards the south of Teanu, curious and eager to see the vast desert south of her home. She was just about to enter a large meadow until she spotted a large bear, and stopped in her tracks. Knowing better than to trifle with bears, she took a detour, sticking to the edges of the meadow. Opaline kept herself concealed in the thick forage of the forest until she hear the cries of little kilen. The bear had them trapped in the little den that must have been their home, underneath a large slanted rock. His massive paws digging and swatting periodically, trying to get at his meal.
Opaline could never leave a fellow kirinoid in harm's way, no matter how great a danger she faced. The cries of the kilen were the spark she needed to light the flames of courage in her belly. She erupted into the meadow on swift feet that did not feel like her own, stopping a few yards out of the bear's reach. Here she reared and hollered at the bear, trying to grab it's attention. But the bear was not interested in chasing down a large kirin when he had a free meal right before him. He turned back to the work of digging and pawing at the den.
She closed the gap between herself and the bear and swatted him with her tail. No response, the bear simply ignored her. Another swat resulted in a warning growl from the bear. Then she kicked at him with her back legs, landing a blow on it's head. The bear roared in anger and swiped at her, it's claws raking the surface of her flank. Adrenaline dulled the pain, and Opaline ran towards the forest, but not too fast as to lose the bear. She wanted to lead him far away, so that he might not return to the meadow. After running for what seemed to be hours, the bear crashed to the forest floor and remained motionless. Whether the blow to the head had eventually killed the bear or it was simply to hungry and tired to continue on, Opaline did not wait around to see. She rounded back to the meadow to check on the kilen family.
Opaline returned to the meadow at twilight to find the kilen family, but before she could greet them collapsed from exhaustion on the outskirts of the meadow. She awoke the next day to her flank stinging, a kilen applying chewed herbs to it. Before her lay a pile of various grasses and plants for eating. She was about to say something but the kilen interrupted her. "I saw how brave you were. You saved my family from the bear. You need not say anything, just rest."
And so now, after days of resting and getting to know the family, Opaline was strong enough to run and play with even the most energetic of the young ones. But soon she would have to leave and continue her path. This was turning out to be a great adventure after all.

Personality: Capricorn is a gentle soul, with kind ways and a soft voice. She is often found in deep thought, or lost in some beautiful place in her mind, and as such, is somewhat easy to startle. Very much the adventurer, Capricorn believes that she is in charge of her own destiny and the actions she partook in are those that shape the outcome of her future because of the choices she made. Her head is filled with tales of magnificent quests of her ancestors, each making a name for themselves in history; Capricorn has promised to herself that she will be much like the heroes of old and journey around the world of Theia, learning and embracing that there is more to life than one ethnocentric view.

Ultima Vita Wins Opaline. her entry was creative and showed the mares personality clearly with in it. Thalea Wins Capricorn. I really liked how well thought out the personality she created for Capricorn xKOVAKtheWOLFx Win Sienna. Even though she was the only one who entered for the mare.
