Feel free to look, but please do not post and DO NOT STEAL! Thank you very much!

Oh, and the explanation of my thread title is a fair story from the county fair I showed my horse at this past year. A bunch of friends and I climbed into the two foot square mangers right before the open show, and managed to cram six girls in there. It's my favorite fair memory and was quite a feat indeed! Anyway, story time is over, so keep scrolling down if you want to peer at my posting productions! <3

Last time I checked I was a
Male

I really just want to be called
Kierran; Tally [ONLY by his sister! Beware anyone else!]

Don't mistake me, I am
Nineteen

I am the royal highness, the
Fae Prince of the Fairy Kingdom

You really don't want to mess with me, I can
Similar to my sister, I can fly- I can reach great hieghts and speeds, as well as battle in the air. However, I can hide my wings; I have great skill in the manipulation of my body and element. I can also freeze things as well as summon blizzards and storms.

I have also focused my magic in a battle element. As heir to the throne, my father has instructed me in using my magic as a defense and battle mechanism. I am able to form ice daggers to hurl at my opponent and form icicles from above and below my opponent by using water- or ice already formed- in the air and ground.

Things weren't always forced upon us, I used to be
It is not "used to be". At most, it is what has only sharpened my personality. I am a wall of ice; I have learned, in the game of dangerous fey politics, to shutter off any emotion and weakness. Emotion is considered weakness in my court and any fey who knows the game will immediately attack, seeking to sieze power for themselves. It's very off-putting. I am a fortress of unfreezable ice. My demeanor is cold and cruel, a true prince of the icy fey court. The only person able to melt my icy core is my sister, whom I truly love dearly and will protect her at all costs. As the eldest, I also feel obligated to protect my siblings. I am the strongest, I am the protector. Consequently, I am also very protective of those I care for. Only if you can break my frozen armor, that is. I am fierce and ferocious, and am ultamitely unpredicatable and dangerous. Needless to say, you do not want to get on my bad side.

I am also a master of manipulation. I can twist my words and emotions (if I may permit any to show through) to earn the upper hand. In my eyes, everything and everyone can be used as a strategy to get ahead. I am cold and some may consider me heartless, and I take that as a compliment. I have spent my life shutting out anyone and eveyrone (with the exception of my sister) and plan to keep it that way.

And I am not even allowed to say my own thoughts...
This horrific situation is a mere ploy to keep us occupied. It is a grab for power, as I can see it. I will retain my icy demeanor and remin true to my homeland. If this disgusting idea of a treaty proves progressive, I will still refuse. No one has broken me, and no one ever will. I will remain distant, and this woman I am said to be arranged with means nothing to me. The only thing that I care about is my kingdom and my sister. This arrangement with do nothing but hinder the progress and growth of my kingdom, and it will change nothing about the way the royalty from the Fae Kingdom view the others: nothing but underlings. The Fae Kingdom is the most powerful, and I intend to keep it that way.

Hair colour
Pale flaxen

Eye colour
Frosty gray-blue

I stand this tall from the ground
6 foot 3 inches

I say I’m pretty skinny, don’t you think?
One hundred fifty seven pounds

The only one that understands me is
My beloved sister, Rathina [Zaney]

Dakota was born in Tennessee, on a large horse ranch that was owned by a famous show jumper, who won the Rolex and got an Olympic gold. Her parents were trainers for Jodi Griffin, star rider and dedicated horsewoman. They were Jodi's favorites. They lived in a larger house on the ranch, and lived and breathed horses. All that couldn't help but rub off on Dakota. Dakota was allowed in the barn only when her mother or father was there with her, but she tottered about sometimes purposely unnoticed, because she was the grooms' and riders' favorite. She was loved by horse and rider alike. She was nibbling on horse treats when she was two, and then on apples and carrots when she was three. Her first ride was on a pony called Starstruck, who was as old as dirt and experienced as the saddle that rode him. Dakota was a natural. She had perfect balance, even at her young age af three and a half. Sam was the star of the arena when she rode. She was truly inspiring.

Dakota competed in her first show on a Thoroughbred gelding named Kryptonite. He was a large black horse, a great jumper, and an excellent mover. Dakota had Kryptonite wrapped around her finger. No one could get that huge horse to move like she could. At the show, it was only her, her parents, and a groom. That was it. No one knew where she came from or who's horse she was riding. She was taunted and teased because of her size compared to her horse's size. But they were all proved wrong when she was in the ring. She moved so gracefully, so elegantly with her horse that she was the obvious blue ribbon winner. She only competed in two classes: equitation and jumping. Ignoring everyone around her, Dakota honed in on the jumps on Kryptonite and cleared every one of them with feet to spare. For a seven year old, she was pretty darn good. She ended up taking home all blues, but not before everyone learned who her trainer was. Jodi showed up in the middle of her jumping class, and was able to see the flawless perfection of her youngest rider's performance. Stunned, everyone soon realized that young Dakota was trained by Olympic gold medalist Jodi Griffin. No wonder she was amazing!

Dakota pretty much lived and breathed horses after that, just like her mother and father. They coached her and Jodi taught her, and soon, by the age of fourteen, Dakota was riding at an advanced, if not expert, level. She was in love with English riding, and was never going to give it up. When Dakota was in high school, she was the head of the equestrian riding team and took all the equine and animal sciences classes. Dakota had known the moment she was around horses that she was going to be a vet, and Jodi embraced her ambition. Jodi and the vet taught Dakota basic first aid, then how to recognize everything, down to the littlest poison to the most deadly disease. Dakota was immersed in these sciences, and she probably saved more than one horse with her knowledge. Her parents were very proud of their little girl, nonetheless. For her fifteenth birthday, Jodi, the trainers, the grooms, and most of all, her parents, presented Dakota with a breathtakingly beautiful red Arabian chestnut mare. Top bloodlines, world champion, and potential Olympian. Only Jodi and the ranch could have managed this. The mare's name was Magic's Amber Dancer. Immediately falling in love with the mare, Dakota spent every waking minute training her and riding her. Out on the trails, practicing dressage, flatwork, jumping, everything! Needless to say, Amber was a true champion. Every show that Dakota took Amber to, they won blue and gold. They were invincible as a team. Amber loved Dakota, Dakota loved Amber. And nothing could change that.

But something did. And it wasn't just something that blows over in time. The county had passed a law on horse ranches, and since Jodi's was the only one around, they were bought out. Jodi and all of the horses, her most trusted grooms, and everything she owned cleared out. That meant Dakota's beloved Amber, and the filly she was training: Arizona Sunset, a palomino Arabian. Dakota was devastated. She and her family drove out the night that Jodi and her troupe left. Dakota was left with only her personal belongings: a supple black regular English saddle, a Stubben brown jumping saddle, and a Rolex dressage saddle. Matching bridles went with each. Four sets of black, navy, and hunter green huntcoats, breeches, tall boots, helmets, everything that a professional English showman- or woman- needed. And none of it would be of use. Dejected, lonely, and her life holding nothing, Dakota and her family entered Montana. They moved into their new house, but the loss of her two horses hurt too much to even put up pictures and posters of her and her horses, of Jodi, of the ranch. Of her old life.

But that changed. Dakota's father started a new job at a blooming tack shop in the town. He sold, made, and fitted English and Western saddles. He was the tack man of the town. He was popular for his work, and their finances bloomed. And to make matters worse? Their house didn't even allow room for horses. It just hurt Dakota more than anything. Through the months, Jodi had been sending Dakota updates on Amber's and Arizona's training and show status. Arizona was a spunky mare, and only the most professional of the group could ride her. Amber, like always, was easygoing and held her blues. Dakota missed her horses dearly. But one day, something different happened. After Dakota's phone call update with Jodi, she asked for Dakota's address. Confused, Dakota gave it to her. Jodi sounded excited, for some reason. Dakota hung up the phone and explained it to her parents, who were just as lost as they were. Two days later, a trailer with the name of Jodi's ranch pulled up. Dakota's two favorite grooms, Brandon and George, hopped out of the truck. Without a word, the opened the trailer, and there they were. Arizona and Amber were standing in the trailer, and in the tack room was a new set of saddles and tack for each horse. The horses were unloaded and Dakota's parents set to work on finding a stable to board at. Dakota hated not having her horses at her home, but who cared?! Dakota's dreams were back- her horses were home! The grooms handed Dakota- not her parents, but Dakota- the bill of sales for each horse. They were hers! Not Jodi's, but hers! Jodi had given the two horses to Dakota once they were settled, because she knew about her Olympic dreams. And now they had a chance of coming true!

Dakota's parents looked into a stable near their new home, and luckily found one. The grooms had left the trailer with them, since it was Jodi's kindness that had gotten them that far. The grooms were on a plane back to Tennessee, and Dakota's father drove Dakota and her horses to the ranch. When they arrived, Dakota was taken aback by it. It was a Western ranch, yes, but it was for rescue horses. Dakota timidly brought her horses out, followed the hands, and got her horses settled. She left her tack in the trailer, which was allowed to stay at the ranch. It was then when Dakota noticed a girl about her age, riding around. Dakota smiled shyly, watching her, then turned away and followed her father back to the truck. The next day at school, Dakota was the new girl. She sat at the back of all her classes, but was always the one who volunteered answers- all correct. Dakota was proud of her 4.0 GPA throughout her whole school career, and it would guarantee a place in the highest ranked veterinary college in the world. That was Dakota's dream college. Dakota noticed the same girl she'd seen at the ranch in many of her classes, but stayed on the outside, since everyone- including the girl- was in their own little cliques. Dakota was used to being an outsider, but also knew that, with time, she'd make friends. And she was right! The girl she'd seen in the stable approached her at school and introduced herself. They got to know one another during the day, and clicked by the time the day was up. They both loved horses, Dakota was an expert English rider, Alex was an expert Western rider. They say opposites attract, right? Alex introduced Dakota to her friends, and Dakota , since she was shy, stayed by Alex and didn't say much. But after a few days, Dakota started to open up to her new life and friends. She was invited to Alex's party, and was probably the first one there, since she'd been riding with Alex all day. Not bothering to go home and change, she went with Alex to her party in breeches, a Rolex snug tee, and tall boots. But hey, that's what Dakota wore every day! At the party, she got to know Ash, Alex's good friend from childhood, a lot better. She became good friends with him and found that they both liked horses. Well, more like loved. Horses were Dakota's life. Horses were Ash's life. And obviously, horses were Alex's life. Yet Dakota couldn't help but notice that Alex stayed by her and Mister Boyfriend's side almost all night, as if something was wrong. Working with horses, reading their emotions, and controlling her own had made her very keen to her friends' moods and feelings. She didn't ask Alex about it, but hopes that, if she wants to talk or needs help, Dakota will always be there for her.

Did we miss anything?
Dakota sometimes underestimates her own ability about her skills with horses. She often talks with Jodi, and misses the brilliant woman greatly.

Here I am out on the edge
Out as far as I can get again
Taking one more leap of faith
Throwing all of my caution to the wind

But why walk when you can fly?
Oh I'd rather jump, I'd rather fall
I'd rather trust, I'd rather try
Oh why crawl when you can climb?
Even if you're gonna hurt, even if you're gonna cry
Why walk when you can fly?

Maybe I'd be better off
With a few less tears, a few less scars
But I'd never know how flying feels
Never be here, never come this far

Colton was born in Montana, in the small town on Woodfront. He was born into a middle class family on the outskirts of town, not very far away from a horse ranch that rescued and rehabilitated horses. Colton's parents had three horses of their own: two Quarter horses and one Belgian. The Quarter horses were named Melody and Magic, the Belgian Clover. Colton was out and about, tottering among the horses as soon as he could walk. He especially loved Melody, a pretty bay mare. But Clover, the Belgian, claimed him as his own. Colton developed a strong bond with all three horses, but rode Melody and Clover the most. Magic was more his mother's horse. Colton was a natural with horses. He had a calming presence among them, and loved each and every one of them, flaws and all. He particularly loved rodeo and speed events. His family was well knitted among the horsepeople of the town- and that's how Colton met her.

He had been at a rodeo, competing in the mini barrel racing when he saw her. He'd seen her around the school halls, noticing how smart she was. He'd seen her around his house, since he lived so close to the ranch her family owned. He had just finished his race on Melody, with a time of 16 seconds. Good time for a ten year old. Being the naive and childish boy that he was, he wandered over to her, leading Melody. He said hi, asked what she liked to do, yaddah yaddah yaddah. They clicked almost instantly, and from then on were best friends. They rode together, did homework together, and got other people to join their group together. Colton and Miss Cowgirl were the two first people in the group. He's been her best friend since day one. Nothing could seperate them.

But no one said anything about mothers. Colton's mother was having an affair with a man in her office. It had been going on for six months before Colton's father found out. Infuriated, he filed for divorce immediately. It was Colton's sophomore year in high school. His friends were all around, but Colton kept the divorce a secret from anyone- but Alex. Since she knew him so well, she knew something was off. Colton eventually caved in and told her, but asked her to promise to keep it a secret. A month later, Ash was yanked from school and moved to New York. Colton, and his father had to sell his horses. All three of them. His mother took Magic, but Colton lost Melody and Clover, his two favorites. Colton and his father had a townhouse in New York, in Manhattan, but it wasn't enough. Colton longed for his old horses and friends. He had only stayed in contact with one- Alex. He wasn't going to lose her. She'd been in his life for so long, he wasn't going to let her slip away. He called her weekly and was always curious as to how her riding, horses, and everythhing else was going, but it wasn't enough. He wanted to see her again.

Then it changed. Colton's father dropped a bomb on him. They were moving back! Colton's father's company was re-hiring, and they had asked him to be manager! Thrilled, Colton decided not to tell anyone- even Alex. Colton's father bought a house across the street from Alex's ranch, only three doors away from their old house. Unfortunately, there was no place for horses. But it was a good thing that Alex's ranch was across the street! Days later, Colton and his father rolled up into the driveway of their new house. Resisting the urge to go across the street to Alex's house, Colton decided to wait until the next few days. The house brought old and raw memories: the loss of his horses, the loss of his friends. But he didn't waste a second. Already looking into new horses, he found two perfect horses for himself- a record barrel racer, Autumn's Call, a chestnut Morgan, and an ideal cutting horse, Dances on Black Snow, a leopard appaloosa.

Sneaking an idea, Colton made a call. Since their new house phone wasn't registered, and Colton could disguise his voice very well, he called Alex's house. When someone answered, he sounded very much like a prospective leaser. He set the prices, the dates, and all the necessary dealings. Two days later, he left to pick up his horses. An hour later, he pulled up in the ranch's driveway. He was met by Alex's mother, who led him up to the barn. He put Autumn and Snow in adjoining stalls, and they happened to be next to Alex's horses. As he out Snow in her stall, he turned and there she was. Standing right there, and his surprise worked. He quickly swept her up in a hug, then started asking her about everyone. Later on, he went to party with her and had to kis her during Spin the Bottle. It set his feelings on fire for her, but he still keeps them hidden.

Did we miss anything?
Nothing!

It was very early in the morning in Montana. Four a.m., to be exact. A tall and muscular young man was deep in slumber, but a loud beeping sound stirred him. Eighteen year old Ashton Scorpio, recently moven back from New York, shook the sleep from his face as he sat up in his bedroom. It was a simple black and white look. Nothign special, other than the rodeo trophies wracked up on one wall. Ash swung his long legs out of bed, pulling his sheets up onto the pillow behind him. He didn't want to leave his room dishevelled for a whole summer. As it were, his cousins from New York were already coming to stay while he was gone. Thank goodness his friends wouldn't be around! His little twelve and thirteen year old cousins nearly idolized Ash. And it drove him CRAZY! Rolling his blue eyes and pushing his annoying cousins form his mind, Ash ran a hand though his scruffy short hair and peered into the mirror. The young man wiped a tired hand across his face, but then his gaze snuck itself down to a photo in a well worn frame: a photo from years ago, before he had moved. It was of Rogan, Lilly, Taylor, him, Aaron, and Alex. The close knit group of fun loving teens with all different interests. When Ash was in New York, he hadn't had friends like the ones he had in Montana. They were irreplaceable. But recently, Rogan had started acting quite hostile toward Ash, and Lilly toward Alex. It was all too confusing. and it seemed to be going on right after Ash had come back. Not to mention Ash's old crush for Alex had sparked back up.

Turning in his spacious room, Ash pulled open his closet and pulled out a pair of relaxed fit Carhartt blue jeans. Most of the jeans Ash wore were Carhartt and Wrangler; they stood up to what kind of work he did. Working with horses and on cars were his hobbies. But mostly horsework. Ash had always had a deep rooted love for horses; it was what made him and Alex so close. He had unknowingly met her in an excitement at a show, and they bonded from there. Ash, Alex, and Sam, a new girl the young man had recently met, all loved horses. Great minds think alike, right? Ash blinked once and pulled on his jeans, shirtless in his room. Just reaching into his closet and pulling out some random shirt was fine with him. He grasped a faded blue rodeo shirt and pulled it on, his toned arms bulging the sleeves. Lastly, the eighteen year old pulled on a pair of well-broken-in Ariat work boots. They were sturdy and definitely Ash's favorite shoes. It was about 4:15 when he left his room, his suitcase in tow.

Ash headed downstairs to find the house still dark. His dad knew he was leaving today, and Ash had made his departure plans yesterday. He grabbed his car keys and headed outside. A brisk northern wind caught him in the face, but the coolness felt good in the warm morning air of summer. Tossing his bag into the bed of his silver Ford F350 pickup truck. Next to it, already loaded, were his two bags of personal horse supplies that he kept with himself: first aid kits, splint boots and polo wraps, spare girths and straps, bits, hackamores, grooming supplies, horse blankets, you name it. Everything was stuffed into two large duffel sport bags with "WRANGLER" emblazoned across it. Strapping them in securely, Ash then closed his tail gate and blew out a breath. It was time to go! Hopping into his truck and pushing his keys into the ignition, Ash turned it and the truck roared to life. In the darkness of the morning, Ash could just make out the shape of Alex's ranch across the street. Her trailer was already gone. Dang, she left before him! Smirking, Ash figured it just would give him more ambition to beat her there. Oh well! Ash slowly pulled out of his driveway and sped on down the street. Metaphorically, of course.

About five hours later, with a couple breaks for breakfast and to stretch his legs, Ash was pulling up into the driveway of a very large beach house. His big truck pulled itself up inch by inch as Ash curved around the house to find a lot of people clustered by the stable. His eyes gazed over Sam, Aaron, Rogan, Lilly, and Alex. But he didn't look too close at any of them; the loves of his life were sitting outside the trailer, loosely tied to allow their necks to stretch. Grinning, Ash switched off his truck and shoved his keys into his pocket. He hopped out of his truck and quietly closed the door, locking it with the keypad on the outer door. He rubbed the back of his neck with a charming smile on his face. "Hey, guys!" Ash greeted, approaching the group with a relaxed grin on his face. He raised an eyebrow toward the trailer, as if debating what to do. With a lopsided smile, Ash hustled over to his two horses; his leopard appaloosa, Dances on Black Snow, called Casanova for short, and Autumn's Call, his sleek chestnut Morgan mare, called Autumn for short. He kissed them both on the muzzle, running a hand through each horse's mane. Autumn's gold tinged one and Casanova's white one. Eagerly, the pair nosed their owner. Ash pushed them away gently and untied them, his eyes going to the pasture beside the barn.

Deciding against putting them in their stalls, since they had just been on a four to five hour trailer ride, Ash led them simultaneously to the gate. Opening it and stepping through it, Ash 's horses followed his adoringly. With a swift motion, Ash shut the gate and turned to the two equines. He slipped his hand underneath Casanova's black halter and unbuckled it, sliding it off of the appy's nose. With a squeal and a playful buck, Casanova shot across the field, pushing himself down onto the lush grass. He rolled around and jumped up, kicking up his hooves and then shoving his head down to eat. Rolling his eyes in amusement, Ash watced Casanoca for a moment before turning to Autumn. The pretty Morgan mare was waiting patiently. Undoing her camoflauge halter- it was true camo, with the leaves and branches that took Ash FOREVER to find- he slipped it off of her baby doll head. Rubbing affectionately against him, Autumn loped off much more gently, only to kick her heels into Casanova's face playfully. Shaking his head, Casanova nipped at her playfully back, and off they went, chasing each other around the paddock. A smile spread across Ash's face. Letting his horses be, Ash turned and hopped the fence to rejoin the group. He slung the halters over his shoulder, then when he made it back to his truck, he grabbed his two sport bags. He slung them over the other shoulder, then headed into the barn. He noticed a couple of open tack racks, and slid his bags down underneath them. He left the tack room and found two stalls with his horses' nameplates already on them. Ash smiled at the small favor and hung the halters on the corresponding doors. He headed back outside and grabbed Autumn's tack first: her bridle, Western saddle, camo pad, and shipping boots. He returned to the tack room and hung them on the empty racks. His saddle was a barrel saddle, because he was a rodeo guy: Autumn was his barrel horse, Casanova was his cutter and roper. Autumn's bell boots and splint boots were in his sport bags. He headed back out to the trailer and grabbed Casanova's tack, another Western saddle with a larger horn, a hackamore, a lasso, and a black saddle pad. He placed them on the other rack when he reached the tack room. Since everything was now in place, Ash headed back outside and gave a small smile to everyone around him. "At least I'm not the last one here, right?" Ash joked feebly, his charming lopsided smile appearing on his face in a futile attempt at a joke.

Inside, I built the walls
So high around my heart
I thought I'd never fall
One touch, you brought it down
The bricks of my defenses

Scattered on the ground
And I swore to me
I wasn't gonna love again
The last time was the last time
I let someone in

Well, you had me from hello
I felt love start to grow
The moment I looked into your eyes
You won me
It was over from the start
You completely stole my heart
And now you won't let go
I never even had a chance, you know
You had me from hello

That's all you said
Something in your voice

Caused me to turn my head
You had me from hello

Girl, I've loved you from hello

Here's my life...

I was born on June 30th, 1992, in the tiny town of Westport, Ohio.
That would make me twenty now.
I'm the daughter of Wesley and Darlene Dunn, my mother and father.
My father is a commander in the United States military, and my mother is a computer technician.
My family has always moved around a lot, because my father is in the military.
I have been to nearly every city in the U.S, I swear, and probably half the cities in the world.
I know many different languages, but my favorite is French.
I have friends all over the worlds, and in low places, you could say.
Although you might not expect it, I loved traveling.
I loved seeing the world, and I'm always ready to go someplace new.
When my father is around, he and I have a very strong bond.
He taught me all about the world, his job, and of course, my hobbies.
Frankly, I love to hunt. I have a three bows: a left hand (I'm a lefty) Cabela recurve bow for practice, and two hunting bows:
A Gander Mountain compound bow, and another Gander Mountain crossbow. All my bows in in mossy oak camouflage.
I'm not the kind of girl you'd expect. I have three buck heads hung up in my room, the best I've hunted.
I love the outdoors. Animals, any kind, I love them!
Four-wheeling, mud-running, snowmobiling, fishing, camping, anything, I'm up for it!
The more rugged, the better!
I also enjoy to ride horses, but I can't do a whole lot of that, because we move around so much.
I wish I could have my own horse, but I've gotten over it. It's always in my hobbies, though!
Oh! That reminds me. I also have a hunting dog, a Golden Retriever named Ace. He's the best!
Anyway, back to my story. My father also loved to hunt; my mother, not so much.
She always had to help clean and gut the animals.
My mother and I got along, but my dad and I were inseperable.
My mother took up my education when we were moving around, but when we were stationed for a long time, I went to a public or private school.
My family wasn't the richest in the world, but my mother made most of the profit.
Sure, my father made a substantial living, but computer programmers were always in demand.
She taught me everything I know about computers.
At the moment, my father is stationed in West Virginia.
I'm majoring in animal science, and minoring in computer programming, like my mother, and enviromental science.
When I heard about the cruise, I was eager to go. Come on, seeing some more of the world? Hell yeah!
Although, I'm kind of worried. I'm always there when my dad comes home from a tour, but what if I'm not?
My father wants me to go. I will, but I'm always going to be thinking back home.
No one says I'm not excited, though!

Camouflage!
You can blend in in the country;
You can stand out in the fashion world.
Be invisible to a white tail,
And irresistible to a redneck girl[guy]!
Camouflage!
Oh you're my favorite color camouflage!

Here's my life...

I was born on November 21st, 1989, to David and Carla Devon.
That would make me twenty three years old.
I was born and raised in Washington D.C.
My father, David, was (and still is) a Democratic Congressman.
My mother is chairman of some huge charity organization (I've long past caring about what it is.)
I had a pretty good childhood. Other than the fact that my father was gone half the time, I kept busy.
Some of the household staff in our huge mansion would take me to parks and museums, and I had very good times.
Sometimes, I would take our border collie, Farley, on runs in our enormous yards. Yes, I said yards.
I loved the outdoors. I enjoyed playing outside, playing ball, watching the animals, everything.
My mother enrolled me at a prestigous horse boarding stable, wanting me to "expand my horizons".
I learned to ride on a large- but sweet- Thoroughbred named Quicksilver.
I had a natural talent for riding horses, and I showed often. My name was known on the show circuit. I was really good.
Plus, I was one of the only guys at my stable. Surrounded by girls? My dream come true!
But, as much as I enjoyed horses, my real talent- and passion- lay in art.
I fell in love with painting when I went to the galleries as a boy.
I took a lot of art classes, and my favorite place to paint was on a small ledge overlooking a peaceful meadow.
The only problem was that my parents most definitely did not approve of my hobby.
They would much rather have my immersed in my studies, or even out at clubs!
I felt like a pawn in their little "publicity" game. It was all about getting their names out there.
I hated it. Hated it with a passion.
My mother was always getting on me about my studies. I was keeping up, but not as high as she wanted me to.
I had a solid 3.6 GPA, but she wanted it higher. Higher!
But, to me, school wasn't incredibly important. I wanted to be an artist.
I began distancing myself from my parents; they were driving me crazy!
I spent less and less time at home and started skipping school to attent art fairs and gallery openings.
When my parents found out, they were less than happy. Less than less than happy. But I didn't care.
I published my first piece at a small showing. It was a simple painting of my meadow, but it captured such peace, it sold for a high price.
My parents weren't thrilled. They wanted me to be a lawyer, or a doctor, or something other than an artist, for god's sake!
I didn't care what they thought. Screw Yale, screw Harvard. There was no way I was going to those snobby colleges.
I applied to the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York for their Fine Arts program.
I was accepted, much to my parents' dismay. However, they refused to pay any of my tuition.
I paid my entire college path by selling off all my art pieces, and earned my Bachelor's in fine arts.
I plan to get my Master's after the cruise.
Speaking of which, when I heard about the cruise, I was thrilled. I couldn't wait to escape my parents' gripping hold on me.
I still haven't told them. They'll probably flip. Good for them.
I'm eager to go. I haven't been able tp paint in different settings that much, and this is perfect!
I'm very excited- plus, I'll be able to meet other people.
I'm looking forward to a period of peace, away from my parents and away from, well, the world.
