stressed stressed It seems that this cannot be stressed enough, but lemme remind you guys of some things...
arrow 1. SHOWER... DAILY. Otafunk is never appreciated. Febreze is your friend and savior. I want to enjoy being around everyone. No one wants to have their activities interrupted by wafting Otafunk. arrow 2. Glomping. Its fun between people you know. But when a person you don't know is cosplaying a glomp-worthy character, use sense and caution. That person may not want to be glomped, especially if you are one of those who dont heed #1 above. Ask before glomping. arrow 3. Photos. Taking lots of photos is good. But again, this is something that must be approached with sense and caution. Ask before snapping a pic. If you want to post it online, let your subjects know. Many are 'paranoid' about their pics on the net, especially if a stranger is the one putting it up. It takes seconds to say, "Hey. I am planning on putting these images on my [insert photo upload site of choice]." Do you mind me posting it?" Its quick, simple, and lets the subject know what your intentions are.
More as I think of it...

Choclat My tip for Otakon: -Bring a backpack. (and bring water bottles. They are expensive in there! I didn't know that I could bring in a backpack and food inside.) -Bring a lot of money! -Sunday isn't a big day there. I just leave late saturday night.
Sunday is the best/worst day for the Dealer's Room. Good deals, but stuff if sold out.

- If you're planning to wait all day in the pre-reg line, i can't stress enough the importance of having a bottle of water with you. It never fails that every year a handful of people have to be taken to the emergency room after collapsing from dehydration. Summer temps. in the inner harbor aren't anything to fool around with. Its humid too, so you sweat more - which means its easier to get dehydrated.
- If you wait till the evening to pick up your pre-reg. most of the crowds have gone by then and it'll be a MUCH shorter wait.
- TAKE A BATH. Basic hygiene is a plus. Nobody wants to wait close-quarters for long periods of time, surrounded by people with B.O. I'd recommend looking up and watching "Foamy's Rules For The Masses"
- Find out if your hotel has a fridge or not. You can cut costs a lot by bringing your own food with you. Have everyone in the room chip in $5 or so and stock up on snacks and drinks. Hey, its more money to spend in the dealer's room, neh? (Or if you're like me -the Artist Alley ^^; )
- Be repectful and curteous to your fellow con-goers. Especially the cosplayers. Ask first, before taking pictures and even if you don't like a costume, use your common sense. How would you feel if you put in hours or even days of hard work into something, only to be flamed by ignorant jerks?
- DO NOT walk around at night time by yourself. Always have at least one other person with you. Thats just common sense.
- Leave the bums and hobo's alone. Be alert for pan-handlers. And don't be afriad to call the cops if your being followed and harrassed by them.

And don't be afriad to call the cops if your being followed and harrassed by them. Listen to her with the Night and Bum thing. Srsly. People that aren't from Baltimore pick on the bums, and it's depressing. D: Bring lots of money. Everything is pretty expensive there. bring little snacks too. I did last year and save me more then 20 bucks. Um...I do say don't be stupid adn shout idiototic things that might get you shot. ^^; I had a few friends do that and thanked god that they didn't end up on the evening news. Not much to say but if you aren't staying at a hotel (but like your house if MD resident or in family) take the Bus and get an All day pass. Only 3.50. I did that (and you can meet other Otakon people on the light rail!)

I Am Itachi1 To find ur way to the convention center just follow the crowd of cosplayers i live in balitmnore its easy to get lost but just follow the cosplayers u'll find ur way and make bunches of buddies!!! Yesh Thats Very True -Also If You Are Bringing A Backpack I Wouldn't Bring To Much Because Sometimes It Just Gets Annoying To Be Carrying Everything With You But For Sure Bring Water Bottles And Money And Things Like A Camera, Snacks, And Any Props You Need For Cosplay.
-Always Have Someone With You When You Are In The City For Various Reasons And Also It Is Someone To Keep You Company At The Con ^_^
-Ask Someone For A Picture And Dont Just Run Over And Be Like OMG! And Take A Picture You Will Probably Scare The Cosplayer lol XD
~A Tip For Buying Stuff In The Dealers Room Buy The Stuff You Really Want First And Buy It Like Right Before You Leave So You Dont Have To Carry It With You All Day And Risk Loosing It, Buy The Stuff You Dont Want As Much Later ^__^
- Be Social And Try To Make Friends It Makes Otakon So Much More Fun!

Yes, ask them for the picture. Don't be rude. Also, I'd advise taking duct tape if you have a prop that is accident-happen. My friend's Saturn staff broke and she didn't have duct tape to fix it. Also wear comfy shoes. They are a need. <(heels.)

I totally agree with the glomping. It is worse when a Gaia Staff member commands it. I got mobbed last year at the Gaia Booth.
