I'd like to believe there is a form of life after this one. Because then, what would have been the whole point of this one if there isn't?

I dont believe there is a god, i was brought up in a pretty much non Christian family. However schools nowadays have assemblies where we all had to do prayers in the morning. I for one dont think this is appropriate in schools as some people do not believe and they are forced to say prayers anyway. Everyone has the right to believe or not believe in what you want. Personaly the very idea that i can put my trust in a so called GOD, and go on to live after i die in a paradise, seems to good to be true. So i don't believe in god, or any other gods for that matter.
I do however believe in science. Energy cannot be destroyed or created, that if a fact. So here goes the closest thing i have to a belief. I believe the human soul is the energy that runs through our bodies, enabling us to move and think. And if energy does not get destroyed then only one of two things could happen. Either the energy in our bodies disperses in to the atmosphere after we die or simply gets re used. And by reused I mean a new life. I know that the number of the population is growing, because prehaps it is using other dispersed energy " new souls" but i would like to believe that we get a new life, a reincarnation. This in my opinion would explain why we have no memories because energy does not store memory. But like i said i am a man of science and i frequently find myself at an impass at this situation.
I would love to believe in god because to have the feeling that there is an all powerful being that does care about you and you will go on to live in some way sounds very nice. But the way i am hard-wired in the brain does not allow me to believe in such things. on saying that Christianity has a terrible past and is not a religion i will ever follow. and that goes for every religion that condones going to war and murdering people for the glory of a god. Surly a god has enough glory to spare; this just proves that humanity is as stupid as it ever was.
((my opinions, sorry they may be phrased in an aggressive manner but that is not what i wish to convey))
