I found a good site that compares the TV Tokyo YGO to 4Kids YGO. http://www.ratandfox.net/YuGiOh/index.php though it's moving to www.yu-jyo.net [and I actually have that card!! heart Thanks, Gospel of Truth!] It's absolutely ridiculous....

Mlle. Christine Daae Well... Considering most people would not be here if not for the American version I'm glad 4kids translated it. (key word most, I know there are some hard core otaku people here) Also, it's FREE to watch on television so I don't think people have a right to complain about something they're not paying for. Plus, compared to many other dubs I've seen the Yu-Gi-Oh! one is actually very high quality. For the most part the voices fit the characters. And consider how hard it it to prodject your voice, get the emotion right and fit it in to mouth movements all at the same time. Voice actors don't have it easy. As for changing names and editing... It's being broadcasted for little kids. It's target audience is 7-14 year olds. Children would be more able to relate to someone named Joey rather than Katsuya. And if they didn't edit out some scenes (nudity with the harpie lady) there would be angry mothers out protesting in the streets, and there would be a very high chance of the show getting banned altogether. Maybe they should have put it on Adult Swim where they can show it in its original format. But for Saturday morning cartoons on public cable, I'd say 4kids did an excellent job. But yeah, personally, I'm quite thankful for the 4Kids dub. I'm on dial-up so downloading the original japanese stuff is pretty much impossisble...plus it's free, like the other person said. So you really shouldn't complain. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Chao- In Chao's oppinoion, Seto-sama is cooler cuz he's a heartless...In the Japanese version, he talks about Duelist Blood and The Other Yugi.

Until the day I am FINALLY able to see the original uncut Yu-Gi-Oh, and since I can't understand Japanese, I'll need subtitles, I'll be stuck watching their lies. I know, I know. You're thinking, "WHAT?!" I can't help it. My anime choices aren't that high. I can't watch Yu-Gi-Oh subbed so until I am rescued by the ability to see every single episode SUBBED, I will be under their spell, but I'll be resisting it! There's even a short journal entry in my profile about me depressing over the fact I couldn't see Yu-Gi-Oh uncut! I don't think the dubbed Yu-Gi-Oh is all that bad. It's really hilarious. But guess what: I'm FED UP with 4Kids blinding me with lies! So I'll say this again: "4Kids decieved me all these years so now my mind is boiling with lies!" Not anymore! NOT ANYMORE! 4Kids...IS STUPID! IT SHOULD DIE!!!!! ~is dragged away from the computer~ HEY! I'm not done yet! I don't hate the dub, I just want to see what I missed! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?! And yes, the American version did bring me here and it IS why I am here today. . . I make no sense, right? HEY, HEY! I'm ranting here------- ~stops talking~ Oh...I guess I'm done then. Fine...fine...but 4Kids does SUCK!!!!!!!! Lets call it 4Asses! LOL! ~gets carried away permanently~ AHHHHHHHH....

ebay to gets box sets, scanslations through Jenniyah ( even though it's manga, it stays true to the series, and yes, even shonen jump is ******** with things. Original plot line, my a**!), fansubs, and *gasp* YOUTUBE.
All the sources above are ways to get your hands on original versions without the tainting by 4Kids.

vengeance_thief 4Kids should die. Done. End of story. Bye-bye. They completely trash any series they touch! Like-like some evil child-virus!!! And then when parents think "oh, it's a kids' series, so I'll buy my brat the manga", they totally spaz when they get their 5-year-old the manga and find out that YuGiOh was DEFINATELY not intended for children viewers. Plus, they screw up the voices. Eric Stuart is awesome, and Yuugi and Yami no Yuugi did ok, too.... as well as Yami no Bakura...... but all the others are kinda...... wierd. (Did you HEAR Honda's voice during Duelist Kingdom??? He sounded like he had a beetle up his nose!!!) So, yeah. I think 4Kids should burn and die. I liked Yami's original voice. And Honda sounded like a braindead surfer-boy with a headcold. And I really hated the new voice actor for Mai!! Am I the only one who thinks she now sounds like a Georgian prostitute?

How do you 'screw up' Yami no Matsuei? I thought that was yaoi anime. 4Kids never ceases to amuse me at all the ways they can mess things up. I thought it was a bit too violent for them. Apparently, I need to look at the anime before jumping to conclusions.
I realized my last post here seemed to be some depressing rant. Heh, sorry. I was just really angry then. I've decided that dubbed is better than raw when you don't understand Japanese. However, if you understand Japanese, go ahead and get the raw. I downloaded the raw of the Egyptian arc, but I didn't understand anything, because I only know English. Yea....I got maybe 0.01% of it.
Also, I was about 10 when I started to enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh. The first commercial I saw of Atemu, I was thinking he's hot, lol. I'm waiting as long as possible to get the subbed version of YGO. I can't find it anywhere, so I'm thinking maybe I'll get it off ebay.
