'Alloooo. I was thinking about starting a new thread but I can't figure out if it's needed or where to put it.

We have a 'made for each other' thread for items that are literally perfectly complimenting each other. We have a forum where people can ask for assistance matching things.

But what about a thread for people to preemptively post up suggestions on how to use items that may seem hard to match--but not really showing things that are perfect matches so much as demonstrating different ways to utilize an item that seems unusable.

What made me think of it, was hearing several people tell me they felt oilstained conductor was hard to use if one didn't have a lot of brown in their inventories. And I kept thinking to myself "the item isn't really even brown....it's not really that hard to use at all."

Anyway, I don't know. I feel weird posting up suggestions in the made for each other thread because I don't think this is what the 'made for each other' thread is about?

Am I even making sense? gonk

It does make sense, but it would be difficult to go about deciding which items are "difficult" and which aren't and therefore go in the normal "made for each other thread".
Perhaps if an item gets brought up a certain number of times it goes in that thread? It's an interesting idea surprised

I don't think we need a qualifier beyond the individual who posts it, hearing others say it? Just like with oil stained conductor--four people in a single day told me they found it difficult to match because they didn't have "enough brown" in their inventories; that was enough to make me think "huh...I guess people have issues using this item" I don't see an issue with people coming in and saying "Hey, people have been saying they find _______ hard to match. So if you're someone who also has trouble with it, here are some ways you can use it."

Also, the thing that differentiates this idea from the "made for each other" thread, again, is that this isn't trying to show off one or two items that are "perfect match" so much as demonstrating multiple ways an item can be matched up and used with other items. Like....I think this thread would be more geared toward actually building full avatars with an item.

When I think of the 'made for each other' thread, I think of things like--showing how two items might layer in a cool way to look like an entirely new item. Or finding two items that match so well, it looks like it's different poses of the same item. This thread would be more like "If you're having problems using this item, here are some ways you can use it in an avatar" more than finding that one item that matches it perfectly.

Personally, I thought that that was the point of the Matchmaker subforum, where people could go to if they were having trouble with using a certain item.

However, I can see where you're coming from with this and I like the idea. Not ever item or pose can be made to look flush with others, but that's not to say they can't be made to work in an avi. People can come and see how others have incorporated them into their avatars as maybe a centerpiece for other items to be revolved around, or just incorporated into a themed avatar.

I also like what featherfire came up with. Creating a sort of "Rogues Gallery" of items which are incredibly notorious. While they're lovely items on their own, they're notorious for either having slight layering issues or a shade of a certain colour that is just off. Other guild members who feel like a challenge and having a crack at something that may be out of their comfort zone can come here, take a look at the hard to match/ nasties list and try to come up with ways of making it work with other items.

*shrugs* Now that I read back on my post I know that I'm fence-sitting, but that's how I see your idea. I like it. We just need to develop on it I suppose. X3

I guess this is preemptively posting items that people here and there have issues with, rather than waiting for someone to post they have a problem? LoL

But a Rogue's Gallery is really the same thing anyway if you don't have an "official" list of rogue items and let anyone contribute items.

I guess "hard to match" is misleading because I suppose I really meant "hard to use" if that makes sense. LoL

I was actually just thinking about thins today. A place to put all those impossible items would be great, as well as ideas and examples on how to use them. Some items seem to have ben made on a completely different color scheme, and they deserve some recognition.
