Je Suis Folie
Ah merci beaucoup. Toujours content apprendre. :]

I'm not entirely sure - but isn't there a slight difference between fou and feu?

I think feu has more of an 'uh' sounds and fou is 'oo'
I could be mistaken. It's happened before. Haha.

No no, you're absolutely right !
Fou = f + oo [ like in ... erm fool , but a bit deeper ]
And feu = f + i like in flirt , but deeper again

P.S : Toujours contente d'apprendre sweatdrop ( Like in english, happy 'to' ;] )

to those just learning japanese, momo- peach and momo- thigh seem the same. this happened to my friend who was studying in japan when she was in high school. she wanted to say that she wanted to eat a peach, but her japanese friend understood it as she wanted to eat a thigh.

Ir

Lithuanian - Ir = And
Spanish - Ir = To go

Hmm...

Yaa = Or (Hindi/Urdu)
Ya = Already (Spanish)
Da = Skin (Vietnamese)
Dạ = Yes (Vietnamese)

I can think of a lot of sound-alike words for Vietnamese, but I'll only use the two above as examples.

Spanish Nerd
Oh man, look at this one...
El peine---comb
El pene---p***s wink

rofl

I try not to use the word comb, I'll use brush instead. confused lol

That is the very reason I don't say comb in Spanish...I'm scared it'll come out wrong.
Plus, I barely say it in English anyway...always brush.

Nu - Now [Swedish]
Nu - No [Romanian]

There are several situations where that could become problematic...

Plant [English]
Plant - Children [Welsh]

( I asked my dad what he'd bought my mum for mother's day - he told me he'd bought her a plant. He said the whole sentence in Welsh, except for the word 'plant', so I thought for a moment he said he'd bought her some children xD' )

I heard this from my art teacher who'd been to Italy and had a good laugh with my class :- D They don't exactly look the same, but sound alike.

Katso merta! - Look at the sea! [Finnish]
Cazzo merda - s**t, p***s [Italian]
