Origin
During the Creation of the world, there was nothing but darkness. Then from the darkness came a brilliant white wolf who illuminated the sky and created the sun. She was Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess.

As the world thrived, twelve Pokemon lived far beyond their years, gaining mystical powers. Amaterasu found them and blessed upon them the celestial brush, giving them each a Brush technique to guard forever.

Then, a darkness descended upon the land, a darkness blacker than that of Darkrai, promising more destruction than that of the fight between Groudon and Kyogre. Amaterasu faced the monster, sealing its power. In the end, she defeated the monster but succumbed to her wounds.

Her story has been buried for so long that few still recognize it. Now, with a new threat to the world, an Absol egg hatches in the darkness...

She hatched in the darkness, then light.

The Pokemon burst from Her egg, and it was said that the cave was then filled with light, brilliance coming off Her fur. She was alone, Her egg abandoned; by who, nobody knows. Inside the cave She grew up alone, the light slowly fading until She once again returned to the darkness in which She was born.

She spent her life searching for that light once more, light and warmth that made the world seem right. And within the caves she wandered. And one day, She found an exit and found the world still covered in darkness.

Up on the mountain range, the thick black clouds covered the sky, denying the cold, snow-covered slopes the life of the sun. And the Celestial Brush came to Her then, and she drew the Sun before the clouds, banishing them with its light and warmth.

The light illuminated her, the sun bestowing upon Her red markings. Only to others who have received the Celestial Brush can see such markings, and to all others she was as she had been before.

Thus was reborn the Goddess of the Sun.

Rejuvenation

The Goddess of the Sun descended from the mountain peaks, marvelling at the world. The Sun gave the mountain life, and life sprang from its desolate rocks. But all was not as it should be; the world was not whole. The river that should flow through the mountain with its life-giving water was broken, only pools dotting the countryside.

The world was incomplete, and one day She found a broken bridge across a ravine. She could not cross, could not go forth and find how to fill in that which was missing.

Then came to her The Dragon. He came to her, drawn by her light. And with the power of the celestial brush, he repaired the bridge, allowing the Sun Goddess to pass.

"Mother Amaterasu." He called her, bowing his great head in respect. "Take this Brush technique, Rejuvenation, and restore the world to as it should be."

And so She drew the river, from the tip down to the plains, and water rushed forth. The land flourished from its life-giving blessing. And thus the Sun Goddess learned to heal and to mend that which was broken.

And she now had a name once more, Amaterasu, She who Shines in the sky.

Power Slash

Amaterasu travelled the lands, learning about the world and helping the creatures within it. Every good deed made Her feel stronger, driving her onwards.

She found out soon enough though, that not every Pokemon was friendly and accepted Her aid. When She was attacked by a pack of Mightyena, She fought them off but could do little. She wished no harm upon them, but She had to defend Herself.

It was then The Rat came to Her, wielding a sword much larger than he. He drove away the violent Pokemon, then turned to the Sun Goddess.

"Mother Aamaterasu." He addressed Her, bowing in respect. "Take this Brush technique, Power Slash, and defend yourself against those who do not see your light."

And thus Amaterasu learned the ways of battle, and to cut down that which stands in her way.

"Amaterasu ōmikami, the land is falling into darkness." The Rat continued. "Darkness is descending upon this land. Go, banish it with your purifying light."

And sensing the evil and danger to the world, the Sun Goddess sprang forth, running towards the source...
