So, despite the fact that I'm 17, I go to a pediatrician. Yesterday I went for a check-up with my little sister. And in the waiting room, I saw a girl who couldn't have been over 10 years old with Twilight in her hands, maybe about a fifth of the way through. I scowled in disgust and tried to locate the parent. I was correct in guessing that it was the woman carrying the big coach bag. So I was staring at the girl until my sister and I were called in to see the doctor.
At around the end of the checkup, my mother brought up the story of how a couple of days ago I got in a fight with my cousin (twice as old, twice as big, and half as smart). I showed her my bruises and we started talking about how we were moving out ASAP, and I brought up the issue of domestic violence, being more aware of domestic violence/abuse than most because of Twilight. And I told her, in effect, "If you see the girl with the Twilight book, you should give her a talk about relationship abuse." And I went on to tell my doctor about the relationship in Twilight and how it glorifies abuse. (My sister also added how he watches her sleep, and my doctor was TOTALLY creeped out). I hope that if she did see that little girl, she listened to my advice.
Discuss.
(In addition: I'm moving out at the beginning of June. I have been avoiding my cousin and my mother has been thinking about bringing charges against him or my grandmother, who encouraged him to beat me up.)

Your doctor is cool.
Your cousin and grandma... not so much.

That reminds me of a similar story when I went to the doctor's last time. It's not as deppressing or sad as that, I mostly ended up talking about how terrible the book was with my doctor and his assisstant.
By the way, there is something wrong with your cousin and grandma. I'm glad you're moving out.

I was at the Children's hospital, in the waiting room to get some blood drawn(For I too have pediatricians/dieticians/whatever you call them) and I saw some woman who must have been...maybe a couple years or so older than me, and Twilight was sitting on her lap.
I muttered "Augh, you gotta be kidding me," under my breath to myself, and got out my library book about American Veterans of the Iraq/Afganistan War out and began to read.

At least you didn't confront her and make a scene. Very mature of you. It's an embarressment when either side does that.

And then she was christened...St. Jerba.
Oddly enough, I'm moving out of my house in June, too.

That sounds like a cool doctor. I would press charges though if it happens again. That sort of thing is NOT good, well I hope you heal well though.

I am really sorry to hear about your situation Jerba. sad
Good thing the doctor listened into how abusive Twilight really is. I'll admit though, a kid reading that at 10 years old...even before puberty...idk, just seems kinda damaging to someone so young. What's even more unnerving is how accepting some girls are of stalking in that story. Seriously...what are the parents doing wrong?!

I kind of find irony in the fact that the abuse and stalking are so heavily accepted by the fans when in reality a case involving stalking would be seen as a terrible mad horrifying thing. The men who resort to stalking in the real world aren't handsome teenaged Vampires. Look at John Hinckley, Jr., he's a real life stalker who went after Jodie Foster and he was ******** creepy looking at the time of his arrest. O_O
