The Drill instructor patted his back and felt the satisfying silhouette of his weapon.
"Well then, your combat training session will be beginning shortly. Please make sure to get your preferred or selected weapon and three clips of it's respective ammunition. "
The Drill instructor slowly let his hand slide to the side of his neck, resting it there.

Magazines...Tai thought, mentally correcting the officer, You mean magazines. Clips are what the bullets slide off of inside the magazine!
Without hesitation he made his way to the armory, where he had a hard time refraining from taking apart guns and using their parts to build a supierior model. He took a few brief moments to check out a few German guns, which, ironically enough, were amongst the more rare weapons in the Worker's Party armory. After about a minute he had collected his weapon, the L1A1 SLR, and three magazines of its ammunition. With these in hand he returned to the drill instructor.

With a swift jerk, he swung the weapon from his back with his right hand and placed it adjacent to his left hand, resting it on his forearm. With another jerk, he quickly and carefully twisted the weapon and his arm until the weapon slid roughly three inches, and fell into the palm of his hand. The sling attached to it of course, was still wound tightly and, now shifted in the opposite direction to were it had been before. His weapon of course, was a modified M14, or more accurately a modified Mk.14 Mod.2 Enhanced Battle rifle. The difference of the weapon was mostly in the barrel and the chamber, which were specifically designed to fire specially made match 11.3 gram sniper rifle rounds. The round and weapon, were of course, still well within the realms of NATO. "Nice weapon. Are those 20 or 30 round magazines? "The Drill instructor let go of his weapon with his left hand, the weapon still hanging from the sling, and reached into his left pocket.

"20," Tai said flatly, "Never liked the 30 round magazines."
He studied the weapon that the instructor held. He found it to be a good choice, but felt no regret for having not chosen it. He did not relish the standard issue 10 round magazines that it sported, nor how awkward a larger magazine made it to hold.
"And so this soldier's commanding officer seems to prefer the M14. Care to ellaborate on that decision?"

The Drill instructor raised an eyebrow.
"Not really. But I suppose I'll explain.
Basically, this variant of the M14 battle rifle was originally built for use with units of the United States Naval Special Warfare Command, such as the United States Navy SEALs. The particular model that I'm using has a few custom modifications which, really aren't all the uncommon with this type of weapon.
It's pretty ergonomic, has low recoil and is relatively accurate; essentially, it was made for a specific kind of combat operation, of which we're preforming. While an ordinary or slightly modified M14 is a reasonable marksmen weapon, becuase this is the best currently available I chose it. Granted, there are possibly better weapons in existence, however, this weapon is a reliable and battle tested. I basically am aware of it's capabilities, which ensures consistency, which is of course ideal for accuracy.
It's also one of the best weapons for this type of job- 7.62mm x 51mm NATO, accurate, heavy but not too heavy, low recoil, and it has the capability to fire automatically. The primary reason why I chose this weapon was due to it's semi-automatic and automatic firing capabilities; something not found very often in accurate marksmen weapons.
Which makes it ideal for my particular kind of combat."
The Drill instructor fiddled his hand around in his pocket, grasped onto the round object, and pulled it from his pocket.

Now it was Tai's turn to raise an eyebrow. He was quite confused by the inclusion of the Mk.14's ability to go fully automatic in its description.
"That is an odd choice," he began, pointing at the weapon in question with the index finger on the hand with which he held the extra magazines, "True, it is accurate as a semi-auto, but the reason this soldier had not chosen it is partly due to the reason this soldier's commanding officer chose it, which is the ability to become fully automatic. Weapons that are made as a semi-auto are never useful as an automatic, no matter how accurate they are otherwise. Low recoil per shot can change when the shots are rapid, and often does, as was the case with the SLR. Even when it does not become a problem, the inherently short magazines of a semi-auto are hardly fit for an automatic purpose, and most semi-automatics, yours and mine included, become awkward to handle with larger ones."
He changed the topic from weapons back to the training and inquired to the time of its beginning.
"Anyhow, this soldier supposes that now is the time for the tests to begin, correct?"

The Drill instructor took a glance at the round object in his hand.
"The problem with your reasoning is that your not aware of just how controllable high powered rounds can be.
Oh, yes. You'll be fighting in an area primarily dominated by green trees and foliage. The average height of each tree is roughly 42.3 feet and the average spacing between trees is roughly 16.51 feet. That's right, you'll be fighting in a forest. The kind of tree you'll be surrounded by will mostly be oak, pine, ash, and evergreen. The terrain is deliberately vague.
You will have exactly 30 seconds to get lost. I wish you the best of luck."
The Drill instructor looked back up at the recruit, and pressed down with his left thumb on the left most black button, starting the timer.

Without another word, Tai put on the greatest burst of speed he could muster and sprinted into the forest. He calculated that his reaction was delayed, from the moment that his instructor had started the timer to the time he began moving, by at least one second and, judging by that, figured that after running for a good ten seconds, he would have 19 seconds left. In this time he needed to become hidden, which wouldn't be easy considering the relatively small brush and his lack of training in hiding. He was used to finding cover to shield himself from bullets rather than from another combatants field of vision.
Nevertheless, his mind searched for a logical hiding spot and found several possibilities. One was a niche inside the trunk of a tree. Impractical. The tight space would restrict movement, which would be needed since the hole was not so dark as to hide him from view. Another option was in a tree adjacent to the one with the niche. This one had a large hole in the ground underneath roots that broke the surface of the dirt. He could easily slide in and remain hidden, but with his opponents keen eye he doubted he would remain un-noticed and the need to fight would soon arise. Because of this, he turned to his third option, a simple groove in the ground roughly the length of a fully grown man and nearly half a foot deep, partially fillled with leaves. Having never stopped his sprint, he veered to the right, turning his path towards the spot in which he would hide. Once he reached it, he broke into a slide, stirring up the leaves enough to place himself beneath a good deal of them. Afterwards he planted his weapon on the edge of the narrow trench facing the direction of the instructor. He readied the gun, placing its stock against his shoulder and flipping the safety switch to 'ready', closed one eye, and set the other to peer through the peep-sight and down the length of the gun. With time to spare, he slowed his breathing until it was virtually silent and waited for the next part of the test.

((lol, that was speed hacking FYI, but I'll let is slide...
Never assume anything. It makes an a** out of U, and Me.))

The drill instructor glanced down at his watch, and whistled. He supposed that a LOT MORE TIME THAN HE HAD EXPECTED went by. The drill instructor shrugged his shoulders. Anonymous immediately crouched and lowered his center of gravity, positioning his right knee directly perpendicular to the ground. This maneuver was done by raising his calf and sticking out his thigh the distance in accordance with his other thigh proportionally, his right thigh being approximately 3/4 of an inch longer than his left one. Essentially, he dropped to one knee and kneeled down. Taking out a fresh magazine filled full of 30 rounds, he snapped the extended clip 30 round 7.62mm x 51mm Simunition filled magazine into his rifle.
"All the guns... And the gold... in the world... couldn't get you off."
Raising his Mk.14 Mod.0 Enhanced Battle rifle to his shoulder, or his 'Mk.14' or 'Rifle', Anonymous slowly positioned the rifles bipod directly on his raised knee, his right knee, and let it sit their. Resting his left hand on the left side of the external covering of the rifles barrel, Anonymous noticed that the air was mysteriously windless. Anonymous's mildot rating was positioned 1 for 100 yards as in accordance with his scope, his eye roughly 1.73456 inches away from his scope, to compensate for the Parallax effect. Raising his right hand to the right sight of the weapon, Anonymous wrapped his index finger around a protruding piece of steel, and exerted roughly 6.56 pounds upon it, which in turn opened up the chamber within the barrel and allowed a single round to be entered into the barrel. He then let ago, the spring mechanism shutting the open cover of the breach within and allowing one singular round to be left inside the chamber. Essentially, he had just loaded the weapon. Glancing down the stopwatch left precariously on the ground, to the left of him, he noticed that it still said 0 seconds left, and resumed keeping his eye position in the previous parallax position.
