B'hec Age: 17 Gender: Male Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Craft: Baker Rank: Apprentice equivalent
History: The oldest of two belonging to a pair of bakers, Belhec was destined to end up in the kitchens from the day he was born, and end up in the kitchens he did. While he began life simply being underfoot and causing a bit of havoc for the staff trying to get their jobs done, it was always assumed to boy would grow out of it and become useful like all the other children. He didn’t. Belhec is truly a miserable example of a baker, and it isn’t just baking itself he fails so completely at. The boy isn’t allowed anywhere near a knife after he almost took his fingers off five years ago (he still has the scars from it, and now his sister isn’t allowed near anything that could cut her, either). He burns things, forgets ingredients and is all around nothing but a nuisance. Assigned, or perhaps sentenced, to dishwasher and he-who-watches-the-little-ones. He’s allowed to run an errand on occasion and Belhec always relishes the chance to escape the fires of hell his grandmother’s watchful gaze…not that he’d ever come clean to such a whim.
And then, something mysterious happened. B'hec Impressed wayward Rayth at age seventeen at the clutch when about half the dragons Impressed to High Reaches riders...
Appearance: Belhec is a pretty decent looking guy, though he is, perhaps a bit on the taller, lankier side of the scale. While he isn’t a hunk of any sort, he isn’t hard to look at, either. His hair is sandy blond and shoulder length; having actually set himself on fire once (and once was enough, thank you), he always keeps his hair tied up in a stubby ponytail and keeps his hair out of his face with a bandanna. His eyes are a dark, chocolate brown and like any baker who spends the majority of their time inside, he really isn’t very tan. He’s got a scar for almost every single serious accident he’s been in, including the scars on his fingers and hands from the mishaps with the knife and the burn scars on hands and arms from not paying attention hot things (there is also a very faint burn scar on the back of his neck from the hair-fire incident). His scars are nothing debilitating and nothing disfiguring, and he often doesn’t even consider them. He rarely dresses in anything nice; working in the kitchens is a messy job and Belhec doesn’t care to ruin what few nice outfits he has. It should also be noticed he has the tiniest bit of peach fuzz growing on his chin; while barely noticeable, Belhec is convinced this is a sign he is growing up and something he is incredibly proud of.
Personality: While he’s a complete failure in the kitchen, Belhec really isn’t an idiot and resents anyone who implies such a thing. He’s clumsy, forgetful, and he really doesn’t care all that much about the happenstance of the kitchen, but he’s not an idiot. However, Bel is a good boy, so you won’t find him arguing with your opinion and he won’t stand up for himself when he’s admonished for his latest kitchen disaster. He’s well aware of his shortcomings in the family trade and has resigned himself to the fact it is only a matter of time before his sister surpasses him in the baker trade. He really isn’t heartbroken over it; there are other possibilities for a strapping young man. If he’s lucky, he could marry a girl and take on her trade (if he were really, really lucky and his family didn’t shun him, but really, there his family and they’ve seen him in the kitchen). If he’s unlucky, he’ll maim himself horribly and get kicked out for good, which could only lead to other things (though he really would miss his family, not that he’d be so quick to admit it). And then, there’s always the chance he’ll Impress the wayward dragon, which really wouldn’t be that bad…
…except Belhec is scared senseless of heights. He’s never admitted to it, and he probably never will. It’s a very silly thing to be scared of, heights, but take Belhec’s feet off the ground and his mind clicks off. Getting things from high places makes him shake uncontrollably, reducing him to tears. He’ll try anything to avoid it, even run away if there’s no better option. He also has a growing fear of the ovens, but at least the fear is grounded. He always seems to get himself burned.
Raging phobia aside, Belhec sort of fancies the idea of being a dragon rider. He’d still be put to hard work, which would be nice, considering all he does these days is wash dishes, and truly, what a miserable waste of a young man. He’d take just about anything that got him out of the kitchens, but far be it from him to admit it. In fact, if someone came up to the boy and offered him a way out, he’d turn them down with a smile and the shake of his head. He knows very well what’s expected of him, and just because he’s no good at it doesn’t mean he can cast his responsibilities aside.
Duty-bound (and slightly resentful), Belhec really isn’t at his best around his peers. Some small part of him is bitingly jealous of their command over their respective crafts; honestly, even his sister is better suited to the kitchen than he. He’s frequently moody, though he tries to put on his brave face and smile for it, sometimes his bitterness will leak in and get the best of him. He’s better with the children, whom he really doesn’t mind supervising at the dishwashing station (at least the littlest ones probably think he’s kind of cool, right?), and he’s very well-behaved for his elders as well. He was raised with manners, after all, and would never cross someone older than him, or higher ranking than him. No, it’s only his peers who ruffle his feathers, but if he can push past the jealousy, he’s a reliable and willing friend. He never shies from hard work, though important tasks are rarely given to him, and he’ll do anything a pretty girl asks of him. Even if it involves heights.
Other: He is Fenta’s older brother and therefore, Jali’s grandson.

Rayth This freckled blue is the self-appointed redheaded step child of dragons. People just don't like him--that is, he thinks so. Rayth's attitude about the world is a real drag, but just calling him a whiner isn't really accurate.
He believes people (and dragons and whers and fish and--) will never really change their opinion of anything, especially not him, so he doesn't bother trying. Just as he's mistaken as simply being whiny, he can look forward to a life time of being brushed off as a slacker, too. Sure, he could point out that he always does what's asked of him until the job is done, and that he only lazes around when he's 'allowed', but there's just no point in it. They'll still think he's a no good, lazy, whiny dragon. Why bother?
As you've probably guessed, this blue isn't too keen on the idea of debating anything with anyone. He likes to go with the flow, especially if it's a brown or bronze or--Chaseth help him!--a gold giving him orders. His obedience to the higher ups is rarely out of loyalty versus knowing the greater the color, the more stubborn the mind. It's best just to do what they say and leave it at that. They'll never change.
If his life were a fairy tale, Rayth would be a self-conscious peasant who, deep down, wants his fifteen minutes of fame and glory and just doesn't want to admit it. Perhaps he'd become a knight, or maybe even discover himself to be the long lost heir to the throne! If only. Truth is, Rayth is content with where he is and has no desire to make himself into something he's not. However, it would do him wonders to become lesson paranoid of what's being thought of him, and hopefully teach him assuming things can cause problems where there aren't any to begin with.
Children are pure and honest through his eyes, and because of that Rayth adores them as company. They're not yet corrupt enough to judge him, and aside from being alone with His, with them is the only time he'll feel truly at ease. If he must be around someone else, Rayth would prefer human women or greens; they're nicer than his male peers and golds are too intimidating.
He's not likely to fly anyone unless he really likes them, and once he likes them, it's probably for good. Having a steady mate is very much within Rayth's character, more so than practically any other dragon in Ghenza.
If he can find a green to put up with him.Because misery loves company. Misery does indeed love company, and Rayth couldn't have asked for better than Belhec; he who sought after a "wayward" dragon.
They're both comfortable around children, and Rayth expects if there comes a time His can't be with him, Belhec will at least understand that he's best left with the little ones until he returns. He also predicts he'll sympathize when Rayth meets that green he wants to win over given his behavior around pretty girls.
Last but not least, His is respectful of the higher ups and won't get them into trouble, which is the last thing this blue wants to deal with.

B'hec's Opinions Dragonriders
Sh'en and bronze Bajenth Good for Sh'en for Impressing a bronze! He's, uh, sort of a scary bronze, though...but he likes Rayth! I think.
F'al and brown Dith I met him in the dining hall. He's from High Reaches, but he was nice, despite what everyone says about them...
Jadamirei and gold Geminith -in progress-
Uuni and blue Makereth -in progress-
Others
Jali ...my grandmother. She's....she's....I'm glad I'm out of the kitchen. She probably is too, haha.
Fenta My little sister! She's so adorable! I love her, maybe she'll get lucky and Impress one day too!
Ranaru and Ranisk The carpenter that builds things for my grandmother. I tried to teach her how to bake....yep....yeah....

Rayth's Opinions Dragons
Bronze Bajenth to Sh'en First Impression) ...he tried to keep me from choking, but he startled Mine. I wish I could think of things like that. I did not meet His, though.
Currently) ...he wants to be my friend. His is nice to Mine, but Bajenth made Mine all flustered. Maybe it is because he is bronze. I know that makes me nervous...
Blue Varianth to R'sey I did not meet him, but he was so loud and strong! He is the only other blue in my clutch, and I think everyone must like him better, even if Mine says he was just making a 'spectacle'.
