Having received the notice from Uuni that she was to meet him in front of the center hall, Makereth had stopped practicing his horrible flying and instead had meandered his way over to that entrance via the ground.

There were many larger dragons than him at Ghenza. This was a given, but now, there were many smaller ones. Makereth had remembered being that small not very long ago, but it was completely fascinating to him that when he grew, the younger generations didn't magically all pop out as large dragons.

Spying one of these small blues, Makereth sauntered right on over to it, though he remembered to be careful as many new riders were still uncomfortable with the idea of large dragons.

Settling down on his stomach a short distance away, he chirred out a laughing rumble in the back of his throat towards that pipsqueak of an obviously newly hatched creature.

What's your name? he asked it quite simply, although from the way that his tail flopped her and there on the ground behind him, he was clearly excited to ask things other than basic formality.

If it were possible for dragons to shriek, Rayth might have done so. However, the young dragon had to settle for a started chirrup and a hop, barreling over to his rider and knocking the boy's legs out from underneath him when the GIANT BLUE greeted him. The freckled dragon's wings shivered as he craned his neck around B'hec's flailing limbs and he headbutted to boy gently.

Miiiiiiine, you are squishing me! Hurry, hurry, get off! I think that giant blue made a mistake and spoke to me. He is far too big to be talking to me, Rayth babbled, clawing his way out from under his rider's back. B'hec struggled to his feet a moment later, dusting off his pants when he glanced up at the blue in question. He wasn't really that large. Not even full grown, by the looks of it, he just happened to be bigger than the hatchlings.

"Uh. Hello?" B'hec tried, grabbing one of Rayth's headknobs to prevent the young dragon from scurrying away. "Where you talking to him? He's shy."

MINE! Rayth squealed in dismay, his wings flaring. I was not shy, he just doesn't want to talk to me. Leave him alone!

Makereth had never seen a young dragon do that before. His head tipped to the side and he gave a loud chirr from the back of his throat, stretching out his wings to enunciate how pleased he was with the reaction.

What an absolute nutcase of a blue. Makereth could tell that he and this one would get along nicely. Moving his weight slightly up onto his legs, Makereth crept forwards in the direction the blue had stumbled.

Finding that the boy had spoken too him, Makereth turned his head to the side and regarded him slowly. As eccentric as His? It didn't seem like it.

Makereth wasn't fond of talking to anyone but His, or didn't used to be, but the longer they stayed at Ghenza and the further apart he got from Uuni, the more he found that it was quite a lot of fun to share words with even the people.

He is shy in such a silly way, Makereth explained. What's his name?

There was no time to wait for a response, because it was about that time that a exhausted, and perhaps a bit ruffled, looking woman had gotten close enough that it was obvious she was heading towards the blue-group.

Upon seeing Makereth had found another rider-type, she seemed to brighten and it was with a slightly sarcastic sound that she made her way over to the party of three.

"Is Makereth trying to pull a prank on you, too?" she asked B'hec, noting the dragon whose headnobs his rider was latched onto.

B'hec smiled with the creature replied, glad to see a High Reaches dragon speaking to him despite the fact he was Ghenzan born and bred. "Oh, yes. He is shy. He's very nervous, I think. His name is Rayth! I am B'hec. It's a pleasure to meet you!" the rider replied cheerfully, about to ask where the Sr. Weyrling's rider was when a woman appeared, speaking as though she knew the dragon.

Oh.

Oh....

Suddenly turning a strange shade of red, B'hec's cheerful smile turned somewhat sheepish and the rider struggled to look Uuni in the eyes. "I don't think so?" he replied, shrugging helplessly. "I think he just wanted to talk to my dragon. He's very shy."

I am not shyyyy! Rayth whined, tail thrashing back and forth as he tried to pull his head out of his rider's drip. I was just not sure, he is so big and I am so...Mine? Rayth tipped his head when B'hec's mind suddenly silenced. ...Mine, did you break?

Upon finding out the young blue dragon's name, Makereth seemed overly excited. He twisted his head around to get a closer look at the blue.

Can you do that nifty trick again? he asked. His mental voice was filled with the excitement of youth. It was very amusing.

Uuni raised one brow at her dragon, but ignored him for the time being. So long as he didn't ask for anything too outrageous, there wouldn't be a problem.

What was more important was the boy nearly tripping over himself in front of her. It was a hard task to emulate when one was not walking, but he seemed to manage.

"New rider, huh?" she asked as if she'd been doing this her whole life. In truth, if it wasn't for the other member's of High Reaches, she probably would have failed at this years ago. But the bond, she was made for that.

Reaching across, she tipped his chin up to keep his eyes at an appropriate level and closed one eye in his direction for a mere split in time. Not that she minded, really, he was allowed to look at her chest all day as far as she was concerned, but when he was looking and he had a dragon that young with him, it made her nervous.

"How are you coping with the whole 'in my head' bit?"
PostPosted: Sun Mar 14, 2010 6:42 pm

Rayth peered up at Makereth, torn between his rider's sudden mental collapse and the interest this large blue was showing in him. Trick? he asked, his confusion obvious in his voice as the blue glanced between rider and dragon. What trick? I think you have the wrong dragon... Rayth seemed to shrink a little, tugging on B'hec a little.

B'hec remained completely distracted, turning red enough to rival a fine dye when Uuni lifted his chin and winked. Oh, shards. She noticed. Unable to process anything but a sputter, the honey-blond took a step back, suddenly terribly interested in fixing his hair and looking anywhere but at the young woman (any part of the young woman!).

Rayth glanced at the blue's rider and swished his tail. Mine says sorry, he mumbled quietly, trying to enforce the politeness lesson. I think. He's actually very quiet right now, but...

"Ra-ayth! Rayth, that's enough." He shook the dragon's head by the headknob. He glanced over at Uuni, a bit breathless after all that embarrassment. "It's hard. I still can't do that mental speech thing."

Makereth was very sure that he didn't have the wrong dragon. The continued shyness heightened his desire to help this one gain a sense of humour, and so he continued.

No, no. I have the right one. When you knocked your rider off their feet, it was done very well. It was something Makereth would have to try more often. Falling down was rarely a pretty thing, but if he could figure out how to knock people over so they didn't get hurt, Makereth would be more than pleased. He wouldn't mind being taught even by someone younger than him. Do you practice, or are you a natural?.

It was not B'hec's reaction that surprised her, but the voice of the small dragon in her head. No, she still wasn't used to that part. Probably never would be. Dragons but Makereth swimming around in there? Disturbing.

"Mm, I don't mind, but I think his cheeks might in the future." Which was a very polite way of saying that he was bound to get slapped.

She was all the more thankful when B'hec had found his tongue again. "You wanna share a cup of klah? Well, a conversation over two cups of klah, rather. I've got the rest of the day off." Was she enjoying being a tease? Of course.

Rayth cast the much larger blue a confused look, but B'hec's hand anchored him in place. He was stuck, now.

...very well? Rayth murmured quietly, peering around rider up at Makereth. Mine doesn't seem to like it quite so much. He just... The freckled blue silenced, trying to twist out of the boy's grip. He gave up quickly, sagging visibly before he gave Makererth a second glance. It was just a successful accident. That's all. I...uh...what is your name? It's okay if you don't want to give it to me. I wouldn't give me my name either, but I just knew it, so...

Meanwhile, B'hec was slowly reassembling the pieces of his brain, sighing as he tugged Rayth's headknob firmly when the blue started to try to squirm away again. Glancing back up at Uuni (and trying very hard not to oogle the young woman at all), the blond shook his head violently. "No. No thank you, rather. If I go into the kitchen, she will find me and stake me out for Thread," B'hec hissed dramatically, glancing around the premises just in case.

"You haven't seen her, have you? Jali. She runs the kitchen, green wher. Old lady." It was then the young dragonrider smiled sheepishly. "She's, um, my grandmother, you see. I think she's out for me. Again. I...please don't tell anyone you've seen me?"

The way the other blue writhed and wormed was something else to Makereth. It was rare that he'd been reprimanded, let alone restrained. Maybe Uuni had grabbed his tail a few times when he was younger, but it was all very exciting in the way most new things were. Since the small blue was also very capable of asking for things, Makereth was more than content in giving his name. It is Makereth. Are you always this uncertain? The dragon rotated his head to the side, picking up on the slight mental stress clear in signal if not in the words themselves. The ground will not fall from under your feet, and I do not bite.

The last was certainly something he'd picked up from His. It was a rather large subject of worry for those unfamiliar with dragons. Uuni herself was everthankful they didn't bite, but, like most things, she was merely waiting for it to be disproven. Janga was on her list of those likely to break the 'rules and code of dragons being nice'.

And, just as Makereth was thinking about his rider, she gave him a glance. It was a 'this poor kid' glance, although her dragon didn't seem to catch it.

"Oh," Uuni answered instead, the 'o' sound over-accentuated by the shape of her mouth. A quick scan of the area revealed no thread at all, and she peered along the same direction he had in search of whatever menace he claimed was going to end his life.

"I don't know how many old ladies there are around Ghenza with green whers, but I just ran into one." There was a pause; it probably hadn't been very comforting for him to hear.

After a brief moment of consideration, and the realization that Isandra could pop up anywhere, Uuni added, "I won't tell anyone, I promise. But, I'll tell you what. I can go get a mug for each of us, and then we can find a nice hiding spot to enjoy it, right?" There was a sly grin on her lips, and she rested one of her hands on her hip.

I think so? Rayth replied, clearly unsure if he was answering the question correctly. He hadn't been around very long, after all, how was he supposed to know if he was always like this! The freckled blue huffed softly, sagging against his rider as he tried to digest everything that was going on. Honestly, sometimes Rayth wasn't sure why he even bothered, life just moved so fast sometimes! Wait. Wait a moment.

Wait. Why would you bite someone? Rayth asked, hints of yellow swirling in his eyes as he felt a growing sense of alarm. Dragons weren't supposed to fight. He didn't want to get in a fight! Especially not with someone so much bigger than himself, oh!

B'hec sighed as the anxiety washed through him like a cold wave and he gave Rayth another little shake. Whatever he was whining about now, it was probably in his best interest to let it go. The rider didn't really have time to question his dragon, however; Uuni seemed determine to have his company. That was just fine with him, really! As long as Jali didn't find him not in the kitchen, he would be more than happy to share a cup of klah with the young woman. (And seriously, who turns down an offer from a girl?)

"Uh, just ran into one, you say?" Ooooh, that was probably and most definitely his grandmother. The brunette twitched, tightening his grip on Rayth's headknobs (much to the freckled blue's dismay, we might add) and glanced around again, almost missing his fellow bluerider's redefined offer. "Huh? Oh. Oh! Yeah, yeah, that would be okay. A hiding place would be great, actually. Just, uh, make sure you do not mention me. Or Rayth. At all. I'm the only baker with a dragon, so uh." B'hec looked around shiftily again, wondering if his life as a dragonrider would always be filled with this much paranoia. "How about I just meet you at the hidey hole?"

There was a long, rumbling chuckle from the blue's throat. Things bite for very silly reasons was his soft explanation. To be truthful, he did not know himself. It seemed an applicable explanation.

And B'hec was right, Uuni was determined to have his company. Here, she had found herself a rider, a blue rider at best. One who was kind, was actually interested in her chest. He screamed normal, and after the rest of Ghenza, Uuni needed normal.

There was a light smile from her as B'hec went on. "Here's a secret, if you talk less, you say less. I didn't even know you were a baker before just then." She gave him a wink and slipped by him, her fingers running over his left cheek as she left to the kitchens. It was answer enough that she'd agree to meeting him at the hidey hole.

Makereth would be her route there. Hopefully she wouldn't trip trying to pay attention to the images going through the mind of Hers. How far away are we going? Mine gets lost very easily.

Rayth accepted Makereth's word as truth, but did not have much time to respond. Between all the headshaking and His thinking and, oh. There was far too much going on and, OH! Rayth's eyes whirled yellow and the blue all but squawked. MINE WHAT KIND OF THOUGHTS ARE THOSE!?! the freckled dragon demanded with far more strength than he's exhibited thus far.

B'hec, for his part, was in the middle of blushing violently as Uuni dragged her fingers across his cheek with a playful wink before scampering off. "Uuuuuuuhhhhhh," B'hec said, most intelligently. It took him a moment, two in fact, to gather whatever remained of his shatters wits before he glanced at the two blue dragons he found himself left with. "Well. Come on then, boys!" he chirped, tugging Rayth along.

It was easier to just pretend the whole thing hadn't happened at all, really.

"I know a nice little pile of rocks by the river pool, alright. You'll come too, Makereth?"

When she'd made her way by B'hec, Uuni glanced back at the the male group. The exuberance through which the new bluerider was talking was enough to keep the smile on her face.

Makereth, in similar taste, was chuckling lightly to himself with a low, draconic hum from his throat. Uncrouching was easy, and he trotted his way alongside B'hec as they headed towards this aforementioned pool.

Uuni, in the meanwhile, was busy harassing as many people from Ghenza as she could. She took her sweet time to get the klah, only paying half attention to the mental images Makereth was sending her back.

It was only when the trio had reached the pool that those images ceased, quite suddenly, and Uuni strained her eyes through the solid walls of the kitchen hall as she felt the uproar of happy emotion well up.

Makereth, what are you doing, she warned, making her way back quickly through the people with klah in hand.

Makereth, despite Uuni's not-really-a-warning, had taken advantage of the situation when he'd seen it. It took him a matter of seconds to latch onto B'hec's shirt and jerk his head in the direction of the pool of water, hopefully taking B'hec with it. That oughtta lighten the mood!

If not, Makereth had just gained himself a free overgarment.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 1:43 pm

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!?"

And there goes B'hec, into the water. Rayth made a startled noise, whipping around to catch his rider's splash and nothing more. The brunette had started shouting as soon as he surfaced, treading water wildly until he realized he was only waist deep. Only once he got his feet underneath him did B'hec wipe the water away from his eyes, mouth agape as he shout Makereth an accusing look.

"What was that for?" he demanded, but the smile was already splitting across his face. Oh, he was very wet now, from head to toe, and his shirt was a bit ripped now (but no one had to know why), but. That was sort of impressive. "You know, you ripped my shirt. I ought to pay you back." But Makereth was a dragon, not even full-grown, but B'hec wasn't about to engage in a water way with someone so big.

Rayth, meanwhile, watched with whirling yellow eyes. He was fairly certain His was not supposed to play games with dragons; dragons played with dragons and riders played with riders, but this? Makereth's wasn't even here to give her consent! Mine...are you sure you know what you're doing? He is so big...what if you make him unhappy?

When the large splash had echoed, Makereth let out a loud chur of pleasure and clicked his jaw together. His tail gave a few solid flicks behind him, showing he was more than enthralled with his own actions, and he looked around to grin at anyone else that might have seen.

That was to say, he gave Rayth a large, draconic grin.

I wanted to see how well you fly! Makereth explained, and it was clear that he found this funny as well.

It was just so that B'hec seemed to have enjoyed the unoptional leap into the water, and Makereth was more than interested in what would happen next. I hope it was not a nice shirt, Makereth sympathized as he trotted his way around to the other side of B'hec to get a good look at all the water that had spilled over the edge of the waterpool. He took the challenge that B'hec offered him with the everpresent dragon-smile. Makereth would like to know what silly games B'hec has up his ripped sleeve!
