Bah! Humbug.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you.
That's quite a detailed analysis, let's see if I can match it.
Manga: 9/10 There wasn't much I didn't like about this year's manga. It had great art, great story, great characters, and great atmosphere. I had to ding one point, though: No color! Only minus one, since it looked great without it, and I know how much time and money coloring adds to a project. And at least it wasn't a half-assed drug-induced nightmare like the zOMG comic.
Caroling items: 8/10 It's just refreshing to see a change. All the items before now have started to look the same. Wonder what they'll do next year... Anyway, the items seem well-made, but... they're not really my style. It was definitely neat that they kinda went with an airship captain theme, though.
Event Items: 7/10 They were fun and completely within the spirit of the event. What else can you expect to recieve from hobos than homemade gifts made out of garbage? I liked all of them except the final prize, tinsel halo, and even that one I give some credit because it makes sense in context. It's just I'll never use it.
My main beef is with the wings. I actually like them a lot, but there are a couple problems. For one, they appear to be centered around one of our shoulder blades, rather than our spine. However, this is not thanks to poor design, but the same problem with all our large backwings: there is simply not enough space in our avatar box to fit them. Specifically, there is much more space on one side than the other, making all the wings look off-center.
The one problem with them that I can't attribute to technical difficulties is the spirit in which they were made. Ha ha, Gaia. Yes, it's hilarious that we're STILL waiting for the backwings that you promised us years ago. Never mind that you already gave us backwings made of trash to poke fun at this fact once before. stare
Gaia just seems to enjoy making fun of their users way too much. neutral
Event: 4/10 I probably can't be all that objective about this one. I had to do it on dialup. And I had already finished cleaning out my inventory beforehand, so any items I wanted to donate, I had to buy from the store. Those two factors combined made it extremely aggravating to me. However, to the 99% of users that had high speed, I'm sure the event was relatively easy and stress-free.
Still... I really don't like that the events are becoming more self-contained and moving away from the forums. In the old days, events required interaction. I find that to be a key component of any event, and I'm very disappointed that it's been missing lately.
Mathematical total: 7/10
In my total feelings towards the event, however, I'd rate it at least 8/10.
Even if the actual activity wasn't that fun, the items were cool, and above all, the story was interesting.
