The Iron Magus I remember the announcement saying something like "Just put your money in the box on the counter, and back away slowly." XP So that's how you pay. To be more precise, when you click the "Talk to Carl" button, one of the messages that pops up is "You get that the feeling that if you want to pay for something, you should put the money on the counter and back away very slowly."

To be more precise, when you click the "Talk to Carl" button, one of the messages that pops up is "You get that the feeling that if you want to pay for something, you should put the money on the counter and back away very slowly." Oh. So that's where I read it. Thanks for the correction.

How is he charging for the items, exactly? Like, the suspension-of-disbelief is starting to fall apart here. Couldn't I just steal some pants or something? Actually, he can talk. Just try to buy something from him and he'll tell you how much it costs and that it was sent to your inventory after you buy it, he just doesn't do small talk is all.
