Not only is there one sex scene, but there's also at least 5 implications of sex, *****, and Meyer is implying that Pregnancy is "A rare disease from South America".....that book has a LOT of issues...
I read that scene, and I think she was saying that Bella contracted Spanish Influenza (the disease Edward almost died from) from Edward. Apparently Spanish Flu is now is a STD without other means of transfer.
(Actually, that might be plausible, considering certain viruses can lie dormant and was using Edward as a host, but he would have effected others first or Bella would have caught it earlier. I don't really know much about Spanish Influenza, so I wouldn't know.)
I heard that the vamps were actually discussing that vamp sex was incredible and the reasons why they weren't having it all the time were that it was destructive.*
Let's analyze the implications of that:
1. It's telling kids sex feels good.
2. It's telling kids that it's wrong and "destructive."
Uhhh... Yeah, definitely inappropriate.
Not horrible, but not for young children's eyes.
*Heard from an outside source, so I don't really know.
Also our library has always sucked so it doesn't matter to me.
