The vampires do more then pretend to go to High School for years and run around stalking stupid people with the personality of a sponge! There's a bit more to the story besides a sappy romance. If you read the books Sookie can actually function without a relationship.

It's actually succeeded in addicting my boyfriend after the first season, which is something since he doesn't usually get addicted to something unless it's good.
...
Sorry, this is the best I got until I get the series from him. (He bought it for me, the dear)

It's a trainwreck wreck with several pointless plots and inconsistencies, especially with the book. It's bound to have mejor problems ahead.

At least the book Lafayette was respectable, this one is a stupid whore.
The books are okay, but I view True Blood as akin to Twilight. At least you could LOL at Twilight.
PROTIP: @ Sheba: Don't read the ninth book, Dead and Gone. It's a disjointed orgy of confusion and is more like a bad fanfic.

I haven't seen the series True Blood yet, but I'm reading the Sookie Stackhouse books. they're pretty good- not the best, but I'd rather read them than Twilight. I find them kind of entertaining when I have time to kill at work. Sookie is much more tolerable than Bella. However, I do not see a problem with a female character sleeping with a lot of males, even if she's the heroine. (Not saying Sookie does- haven't read that far into the series to know).
I'm just saying I like it when a female character is sexually active cuz it challenges the general stereotype- that good girls are "pure", or sleep only with one man that theyr'e dating/ married to, but when a guy sleeps around, he's "the man", "macdaddy", "big pimpin'" or whatever else you wanna call it. I suppose this doesn't hold true for everyone's viewpoints- maybe times are changing?- but where I live that's the general viewpoint, and it drives me insane.

Gettign a little off topic (but still on about the smexing) Calanthe (my favorite character from the Fulfilments of Fate and Desire) sleeps with somewhere around a dozen or so. Then again, book starts off in a whorehouse and ends up in a palace. Oh I've got a list of books that with smex that'll knock kiddies' socks off.

My brother got my addicted to True Blood. xD I despise Sookie's accent, though. It just annoys the crap outta me. Bill's voice though is kinda epic win. X3
