Ka'da laughed..and let the other think he had him beat. Ah hell..what did it matter if he won or not? He should just let him win..it would make Levin rather happy to be able to best him. No..that wouldn't be good. Especially if anyone in the House were watching. They would probably report it to the Matron and he'd end up with some sort of last minute punishment for showing his House to be weak.
Ka'da sighed. He hated all the pretenses and goal of being the best and strongest. Didn't anyone ever tire of besting others? Didn't anyone ever just do something for the fun of it? Seriously..Ka'da was fast becoming tired with the damned politics of the females and never being able to do something just for the pure pleasure of it.
He doubled his speed, and easily passed by Ka'da in the last few feet and vaulted himself over the gate and into the courtyard of his House. He came to a stop, took a few deep breaths and waited for Levin to join him. He was really looking forward to being able to get away from out of under his Matron's reach and actually doing something for fun for a change. Even if it were to fight off miscreants that attacked the caravan.

When he looked around it was obvious that Ka'da had beat him there, but he merely smiled, not minding that the other male had beat him. With Ka'da it was easy to be himself, he didn't feel like he had to constantly be responsible and always watch everything he did. For now he would be himself, but when the mission came he would of course always be on guard, he didn't want to dissapoint the Matron, or Ka'da for that matter.
"Nice job," he said patting the other male on the back in congratulations, lingering on the taught muscles located there before he pulled his hand away, embarrassed. "So, what happens from here? I know the mission won't take place for a day or two yet, so what happens before then?" He asked all of this sounding very curious, honestly not knowing what everyone would expect of him quite yet.
When Nereida finally caught up, she was breathing hard, her chest heaving up and down. From this vantage point she could see the two large males conversing within the courtyard, but it looked like they had probably jumped over the railing, it looked like the gates were closed. She sighed, not knowing how she was going to get away with this. Her powers wouldn't bend to her will, and she knew she would have to use them quite soon.
Get inside!
"Fine, but only if you help!" she said angrily, closing her eyes again in concentration. How had she got them to work for her before? With eyes still closed, she searched that part of herself that had control of her gifts, that part that was stronger than her, but would never merge itself with her conscious mind. You cannot see me, you cannot hear me. I am mist, I am magic, I am the night. She repeated this over and over in her head, gasping when her body seemed to become as insubstantial as mist.
She couldn't help but giggle to herself at this prayer-turned-spell, running towards the gate at full speed. With all of her strength she jumped, surprised when she vaulted over the gate, as light as a feather. On the other side she landed silently on her bare feet, looking around intently to see if she was caught. When she was sure that the two men hadn't heard or seen her, she sneaked over to a large pair of immaculately trimmed bushes, hiding behind them quickly, but not letting the magic that kept her nearly invisible drop quite yet.

Ka'dairihn grinned back at Levin, laughing a bit and shaking his head at the other's antics. Ah..it felt good to be able to freely express and be at ease with another drow for a change. He figured that was how partners were supposed to feel.
"Thanks, you didn't do so bad yourself." Ka'da replied not really noticing the lingering touch all that much. Well so he did notice but he figured that since Levin was slightly buzzed from drinking so much that he wouldn't say anything about it least he embarrass the fellow. He could actually say for a change that he liked a fellow male drow, and it was a nice feeling. He didn't want to change that.
"Well, I know I'll be testing the other warriors the Matron hired tomorrow. And then there will be training in the afternoon and evening for the entire group. I insist on it; as most of those fellow have never worked together in their lives. So it will help in making them into an actual fighting team. As for you, I think a bit of endurance training with me will help you become more efficient. So when I'm not getting the others up to par, you and I will train. I figure we'll get a bit of downtime, and during that time I'd like to spend some time just getting to know you, if you don't mind Levin." Ka'da replied with a bright smile, as he led Levin inside the House by a side door.
Min'hyvair was restless and unable to sleep. It wasn't something that happened that often, but insomnia wasn't all that new to her. It seemed to be bothering her more than it had before. Probably because of the scare the House Ja'lithur had had a few weeks ago concerning Ka'dairihn. He had gone out on one of her "sisters" tasks and been attacked and taken prisoner by slavers. Of course she had been the only one really concerned for his safety, the Matron had only been concerned because it would have meant having to find another capable male to head a venture she had been working on for years now.
That was one thing Min'hyvair disliked about her Matron. She didn't really care about anyone in the House unless it concerned her plans. Soon enough though..that wouldn't be a problem for her or Ka'da anymore. She had been planning to poison the Matron and her sisters for years and soon enough now she would be able to do so without causing alarm.
Min'hyvair heard a noise and laughter coming from the side door of the House and turned to see what was going on. She smiled when she saw it was her brother Ka'dairihn and some other fellow who was nearly as tall and well built as her brother. But not quite so. No one ever was quite as tall or well put together as him, of that she was quite proud of. Thankfully neither of the males could see her from her from her hiding spot near the House's gargoyle guardian.
She was about to go back to her list of herbs she had been composing when she caught sight of something out of the corner of her eye. Some sort of shadow creature had just vaulted over the gate.. and landed in the courtyard. Min'hyvair tensed up and withdrew her bottle of acid, and uncorked it and readied herself to use it on the intruder. When the small female sneaked behind a pair of bushes only a few feet to Min's right did she grow alarmed.
With the bottle in her outstretched hand, Min slipped over silently behind the female and whispered in deadly intonation. "One move and you're dead."

The buzz was definitely starting to wear off now, and Levin could feel the beginnings of a migraine coming on. It was stupid of him to have drank that much in such a short span of time, but he had always had an alcohol problem, and when someone came offering to buy the drinks he couldn't just turn them down. Not when you had almost nothing to your name and couldn't even afford such cheap drinks in a run down bar. It was pathetic. Absolutely pathetic!
Levin sighed inwardly, plastering a smile onto his handsome face, his chin chizeled with a sharp jawline. His cyan eyes, always so watchful couldn't help but look over the other male appraisingly. Ka'da was very, very handsome, and his eyes lingered on his muscled frame, on his rock-hard abs, and even harder biceps.
It made a shiver go up his spine that had nothing to do with the cold Underdark around them. With the fake smile, he listened to what Ka'da had to say, nodding every so often as if he understood though he was starting to fade. His energy for the day was pretty much spent. Hanging with Ka'da would definitely get him back in top shape, and from what the other male spoke, they would be training him specifically on endurance. Yigh.
Without a word, he followed Ka'da inside, turning around momentarily at something he thought he heard. "Close your eyes," he whispered, careful not to make a sound. He cupped his hands together, a bright, shining white light forming in his palms. He brought his arm back, throwing it into the sky so that it lit the courtyard. His eyes being used to such light searched the grounds quickly, but he couldn't see anything, so he followed Ka'da inside, ready to be off on their mission.
Nereida choked up in fear as she saw her brother suddenly throw light to the sky, and at first didn't notice that someone had sneaked right behind her. When she heard that voice she turned around in fright, ready to scream, but the forces at work inside her body held her tightly in their grasp as to not give away their precious position.
It took a few long moments for Neri to calm down, but once she did, she looked over the other female with eyes identical to her much larger brother. She was small as well, and from the looks of it kind, it was obvious in her eyes. Kind she might be, but she was strong. There was a fierceness there, an almost animalistic aura that hung about her.
She is strong this one. Very strong. She mite be of some use to us later on. Befriend her, make her trust you, and when the moment is right, we shall slash her throat. Go. GO!
Nereida flinched, the voices so prominent in her mind seeming to get stronger with every passing day. When she was only a few years of age, and barely coming into her power was when she had first heard them. Then were quiet at first, kind, and soothing. She had cherished them, loved them, confided everything she was into them.
When her power bloomed, and her brothers looked upon her in hope was when they took over. She had poured her entire being into these voices that were so kind, and they used that to their advantage. Soon after blooming she had gone into a coma, not surfacing for many months, and practically spending what was left from their parents to keep a Healer at hand at all times.
When she had awoken, she couldn't control her powers any longer, They did. Only when They thought it was necessary would they give her control, and only for short moments of time, never long enough for her to take over once more. No, They ruled now, and with an iron fist. They had gone from being able to only hurt her mentally to physically, a pain she felt in her entire body when They so wished it.
Once she realized she was lost in thought again, something she did quite often, her eyes refocused on the female in front of her. "I mean you no harm," she said calmly, more calmly then she actually felt. "That is my brother over there, the big one, though the man he is with is his equal, if not more, which from what I see he is. I have only come to look after him, I trust no one. Kill me if you wish, but with my last breath you shall feel the wrath of Shadow."

Ka'da didn't really notice the internal struggle going on in Levin, but he could tell that Levin was oogling him from behind. It was a strange most unusual experience for Ka'da. For a fleeting moment, he couldn't help but wonder if this is what females felt like when a male was sizing them up. Slightly affronted and somewhat intrigued by it. Ka'da shrugged away the feelings, not really caring for the experience.
He turned around when he heard Levin's whispered words wondering what had caught the other's attention so abruptly. He immediately closed his eyes when he saw the start of light forming in Levin's large hands. Despite his having closed his eyes, the resulting flash of light was bright enough to glare through his eyelids. Once the light died down, Ka'da was left to rub his eyes, trying to get them used to the pitch blackness once more.
"Well..that was enlightening." Ka'da replied with a wink a Levin as they continued further on into the House.
Min'hyvair didn't know what instincts made her bring her arm up to shield her eyes, but she was thankful that she had when a sudden flash of light lit up the courtyard. She cursed, as her eyes rapidly blinked trying to adjust back to the darkness after wards. She eyed the female suspiciously, not really knowing what to think of her.
The other was just standing there not moving a muscle, which made Min edgy thinking that the other was just biding her time until she struck out at Min'hyvair.
She was rather surprised when the other suddenly spoke to her. Min'hyvair pursed her lips and drew her brows up in alarm. So..this was the sister of the light mage? Her talk of shadow, made Min shiver in alarm. It seemed, that as odd as it sounded, this female was a shadow mage.
"The light mage is your brother then." Min'hyvair stated, with a slight frown on her face. "I assume then that you are a shadow mage?" With a sigh, she corked her bottle and slid it back into its pouch on her waist. "It seems..we have something in common; a need and desire to protect our brothers. The other fellow, Ka'da is my brother. If he knew the plots that I've foiled against him, he'd probably be shocked."
This being said, Min'hyvair examined the other female closely and couldn't help but feel squeamish at the sight and smell of her. "It looks like you haven't bathed or eaten in weeks. Perhaps the two of us can strike up a deal. If you're going to follow your brother and protect him on the venture, perhaps you can extend your services to watching over Ka'da as well. I'll make it worth your while."

Nereida was silent for a long while, her cyan eyes always alert, intent for any signs of danger. Most of the time she need not worry, in her case, the danger came from within.
She could tell that the other woman found her disdainful, but she couldn't blame her, she wreaked. When you often lost yourself inside your own head, you forgot to do other things such as eat, and bathe yourself at regular intervals. It had been a long while since she had last done these things, only surviving because whatever was inside of her silenced such important needs.
"A deal?" she whispered, trying to think up that this was somehow just a ruise to weaken her defenses, perhaps tricking her into trusting. No, she could never trust anyone else. The only soul she cared about was Levin, her old brother. There was Evael as well, but he was fickle and capricious, Levin always the responsible one, always making sure she was well cared for.
It would be nice to eat, and to take a long, hot bath, even if the water smelled strongly of sulphur. Yes, she would take up this deal, but never would she let down her guard.
"I shall take you up on this deal then," she spoke firmly, rising unsteadily to her feet. Now that she actually paid attention to the hunger that knawed at her insides, it felt as if she would faint at any moment. Fainting would be a stupid thing to do, and it would but her in their power. "I'm not sure I can protect the two of them, but I will try my hardest."

Min'hyvair waited silently for the other's response. When she figured that the other wasn't going to take the offer and about turned around to leave the shadow mage outside did she finally speak.
Min wasn't surprised at the caution in the other's tone, Min had threatened her after all. She was surprised however at the other's honesty and acceptance of the offer.
"Good then," Min'hyvair replied, putting the cork back into her bottle of acid and placed it back in the corner of her skirt's waistband. "we shall proceed inside then, but I'm keeping my eye on you."
Min grew rather alarmed when the female stood up shaking slightly and looking like she'd fall over at any moment. She reached out and steadied the other with one arm.
"Well..just do your best Nereida." She said, as she started to lead the other over to the side door that their brothers had disappeared into. "Is your brother going to be concerned or bothered if he learns that you are here as well?"

Nereida was glad that at the moment the voices were quiet. They knew that if they did not let her eat she would not survive much longer. How long had it been since she had last eaten? She couldn't even remember the last time she had put anything in her mouth, let alone food. Her stomach grumbled loudly, and she whined, not used to such a sensation as hunger.
Slowly she looked at the other female, barely comprehending what she was saying, but she knew she had to give an answer or the other would think her crazy. "I-I'm not sure.... how he would feel," she said honestly, swaying back and forth unsteadily. "For now, can w-we just keep it a secret?" She was surprised at the own weakness in her voice, she sounded just like she was a child even though she was over fifty years old, physically looking like she was only fifteen or so.
For the moment she put most of her weight on Min, not trusting herself to walk on her own. It felt good to just push her worries onto someone else for a change, to not be in a world of costant fear and worry. Right now she felt empty on the inside, hollow, as if she was just a shell, as if she had no soul. Even Levin was gone from her worries, and she smiled to herself, slowly falling to her knees, letting the darkness once again consume her as she fainted.

Min'hyvair was rather startled at the loud grumble that came from Nereida's stomach, and the strange whine that emitted from her. How long had it been since the poor girl eaten? Really, the younger female looked to be almost nothing more than skin and bones. Food definitely would be a good start for her.
Min'hyvair was surprised at the honest answer the other gave her. "That I can do. Secrets are what we females are good at." She replied with a sly wink at the other.
Min'hyvair took the other's weight without much complaint, as Nereida weighed barely anything and it didn't really bother her all that much. They had just gotten to the door their brothers had disappeared into when Nereida suddenly became dead weight. Min'hyvair turned and was rather amused to see that the other had fainted dead away.
Min sighed, and managed to hold the other upright as she opened the door and pulled her inside the House. Once inside, Min flagged down a servant and had the servant help her carry the still form of Nereida to her own quarters. Once there, she sent the servant out to gather food and hot water so she could attend to the other female. She wasn't too concerned with the other fainting and figured that Nereida would awaken soon enough.
The servant came back moments later, and the two of them undressed and placed Nereida into the tub full of steamy hot water. Then Min'hyvair sent the servant out to gather up some clothing and towels, while she waited for Nereida to wake up.It didn't take long for Nereida's eyelids to flutter slowly open and stare around the room.
"Glad to see that you're awake..feeling any better?" Min'hyvair asked as she put a plate of bread, meat, cheese and fruit on a stool next to the tub.

When the little Drow finally woke, it was to find herself in a bathtub filled almost to the brim with hot warm. She looked around, startled to find herself naked, wondering how she had gotten here. Had they done anything to her body while she was asleep? Discreetly she moved her hand down between her legs, checking to make sure she hadn't been raped or something worse.
She let out a breath she hadn't known she had been holding when nothing felt out of place, or hurting and sore. Her cyan eyes danced slowly around the room, not falling on Min until after she checked everything out.
The inside of the bathroom was very nice, like nothing she had every seen before. Everything was squeaky clean and utterly spotless. It didn't smell like mold, or anything of the like. There was a large vanity mirror on one wall, and a sink in front of it filled with all manors of things: makeup, potion ingredients, hair brushes, as well as a lot of other things she couldn't name.
She didn't remember a lot from when her mother was alive, but even as a child she had never come across these things. Her mother had been a tough woman, not one to wear makeup and make herself look pretty. Her father hadn't loved her mother either, but was rather trapped like most males were, so hadn't taken the time to buy her things, not really caring how she looked.
Finally her bright eyes rested on Min, and her body relaxed, glad it wasn't a male who was sitting next to her. She leaned back in the bathtub relieved, dunking her head under the water. Her silver hair was plastered to the sides of her face. She saw the food there, but at the moment was more aware of how dirty she was. Underfoot she could feel the dirt and grime, nearly gagging before grabbing a rough sponge and scrubbing every inch of her naked body.
When her hair was no longer tangled and matted, and she smelled lightly of a scent she had never smelled before, she wiped her hands on a dry towel then tore quickly into the food. It was bread, meat, and cheese, so tender and soft she moaned, never before tasting something so wonderful. It wasn't long before the plate was clean, and she was very tempted to lick the crumbs from the delicate china be she made herself refain from doing so. "Thank you," she finally murmured, feeling suddenly very tired.

Min'hyvair didn't speak while the other was looking around the room rather wide eyed. The poor thing must have never seen a room so clean before..or so well kept. She probably wouldn't see another like it, as Min was rather obsessed with keeping her quarters sparkling clean and well kept. It was a habit that her Matron had found odd and her sisters found distasteful. Cleaning after all was usually left up to the servants. If it were up to Min, the servants would keep the house as clean as she kept her own quarters. Such was the way of her strange curse.
Min stayed silent and waited while the small female washed herself clean. She really wasn't used to watching another clean themself..but figured it would be better to supervise her or the female might fall asleep or faint while in the warm water. Min really didn't want to be responsible for the female's death should she loose consciousness again. She was rather relieved to see the female was wide awake and set on cleaning herself as thoroughly as she could.
She watched, a smile playing on her lips as Nereida tore into the food, moaning with the taste of it. This one certainly knew how to enjoy food. Min caught a longing look Nereida cast at the crumbs left on the plate.
"Your welcome Nereida. I would have had them bring you more, but I didn't want to overfeed you. That would just make you feel sick, and cause you to heave it up." Min'hyvair replied.
A soft knock came at the door and Min called out, "You may enter". The servant from before entered with a large towel, and clean clothes in hand. Min gestured for the servant to leave the items on the bed and then told him to leave. Once the servant was gone, Min got up from her chair picked up the towel and brought it over to Nereida.
"Now, lets get you dried off, dressed and into bed. I imagine you are quite tired. Do you mind sharing my bed? I daren't ask for another room without letting my Matron know I've brought in a stranger without her approval. I can tell you..she won't be very pleased. I promise, I don't snore and I won't spoon you." She added with a slight smile playing on her lips.

Nereida was quite surprised by the kindness of this strange female, not used to it whatsoever. Most Drow women were horrible creatures, and she had to admit she could be plain horrible to males as well. It was how her mother had raised her though, to believe that males were naught but servants and playthings.
Though she loved her brothers and was doing all she could to protect the eldest of the two, that was really the most kindness she had ever shown him. Before now she had treated both Levin and Evail much like slaves. The other female was probably only so kind to her because of her gender. Should she have been a male in the same situation, she probably would've been killed on the spot.
When the servant came in her dark skin blushed deeply, and she sunk lower in the bathtub trying to hide her private regions. When the submissive male left she sighed in relief, that it was only Min'hyvair that was left. Nereida really didn't remind the odd female seeing her naked, she didn't get the vibe that she was attracted to her in that way at all like she sometimes got from other females.
Well she hadn't been getting any of those vibes from anyone at all here lately, not when she smelled so bad that flies swarmed around her, her hair being all matted, her skin dirty and her clothes deeply stained.
Without bothering to cover up she stepped out of the tub, taking the towel with one tiny hand. Very quickly she dried herself off, the fabric so very warm and soft against her bare skin. When she was sure she was completely dried off she took the offered nightclothes from Min, slipping them on self-consciously.
Though they were quite small they hung from her tiny frame loosely, making her look like an old woman with her bright silver hair. She was quite surprised to see how clean and healthy it looked, expecting it to be nasty after not being washed for so long. Even her skin shone like an inner light had been lit from within, and her cyan eyes shone brightly.
"I don't mind sharing a bed, and I wouldn't want your Matron Mother to know about me quite yet either. My Matron died many years ago, so I am not used to fearing another being after so long. I have two brothers, you see, so they are under me, as they should," she said sounding like a true Drow female.

Min'hyvair didn't really consider herself kind..and if she knew what the other female was thinking she probably would have laughed. She was merely winning the other female over..and ensuring that her brother had more chances of surviving the mission he was being sent off on. Min had never really cared for her Matron's fancies or her sisters..she rather despised them. Especially when they degraded her at every given chance. She had plots and plans to use against them..and to do so she had to ensure her brother survived and felt indebted to her. And Nereida was a means to ensure that.
Min'hyvair could tell that Nere was more than she appeared, there was an extra layer of mystery surrounding her and Min was certain that it was something to do with the other's gifts. She wasn't going to ask about them, knowing that would just raise red flags in the other's head. So instead Min stayed silent, as she watched Nere go about getting dressed.
Min had seen some skinny drow before..but Nere was a bit more than skinny. She appeared to be nearly skin and bones...she could definitely use a few more meals before being sent out. Min couldn't help but feel sorry for the other female. Obviously, Nere had grown up without much pampering or spoiling...so even the smallest kindnesses probably seemed to be a great deal more.
Min'hyvair smiled at the other and then got up from her seat and slowly strode over to the other female. She ran a few finger's through the other's now clean hair to get out some snags and then quickly braided the hair and pulled a tie around it. "Ahh..well I hope you won't have to stay hidden for too long. My matron can be rather testing when given the chance..and I know she wouldn't be pleased with either of us and our secrecy. She dislikes anyone having something over on her. Just as long as you stick to my rooms you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Though..I warn you..my sisters can be nosy as well. I wish I only had brothers..it would make things soo much easier. You are lucky in that away, Nereida. Now then..why don't you get some sleep? I have a few things I still need to do and I'll be careful about not waking you." Min'hyvair replied, walking over to the large four poster bed, shoving the curtains aside and pulling the silk covers down. "It gets rather warm here..so you may not even need to use these." She said over her shoulder, as she moved away from the bed and stopped at the doorway, her hand on the nob. "I shouldn't be too long..If you'd like I can lock the door so no one else can enter."

The tiny female was so surprised at this woman's kindness, never before having experienced from another lady. Her mother had died such a long time ago, and she had grown up with two older brothers. Levin she cared about, though really it was only on the inside, she would never show that in public. Evael... well he was just a manwhore, she couldn't stand him not one bit, and it showed that he didn't care much about her as well.
"Thank you Min, for your kindness, I muchly appreciate it." She actually cared much more than she let on, for it seemed that around this other female, the voices within her head stayed utterly silent, which was a welcome relief. She hated that they argued and ordered her around, even made her do things against her will. If only she could find a way to put them in working order, to use them rather than them use her.
Before long she found herself yawning at how warm it was in the room, and the nice clean clothes she found herself in. "Yes... please, lock the door, I'd rather not have to kill anyone," she murmured climbing under the covers. Again and again she found herself yawning and how very comfortable she found herself. The other female probably didn't believe that she could kill, but the voices within always protected her against danger despite how much they said they hated her. In an instant she found herself asleep, and in her sleep the voices once again came back.
This female thinks she so much better than our little Nereida, what a fool she is! If only she knew the power that lurked within her, she would run away frightened, like a little child! Hah! I doubt that even a Matron could stand against her if Nereida so tried, but that we will avoid if we have to. She will need her strength for the coming days, so for once we shall stay silent, let her think that we are fading away. We will never fade, and she will never have domain over the power we keep safely locked away. Sleep now Nereida, sleep.

Min'hyvair's sharp eyes caught the other's surprise and wondered what she had said that had started Nere so much. Perhaps she was being too sincere, she knew that characteristic wasn't common in the least bit in drow society. And yet, she never seemed to fail to showing that to others. She really needed to watch what she said and not give so much away.
"And I thank you for agreeing to this endeavor, Nere. I appreciate that as well. " Min replied with a slight inclination of her head to the other female.
Min couldn't help but smile at the next words from nere's mouth. "Ah..but if you did I would be most grateful. Those vipers really deserve to be taken out. They really haven't a clue to how to properly work intrigues, they just play with others like a cat would with a mouse." Min said with a slight shake of her head. "Sleep well, I shall return within the hour."
Min'hyvair departed, pulling the door closed behind her and taking out her key and locking the door. Thankfully no one would think much of it, because it was a common practice of hers. It wasn't just to keep her nosy sisters away, but their servants as well.
She had walked in on one of their servants going through her potions once, and she had unfortunately startled him causing the fellow to drop a vial of poison which had gotten over everything. She had been livid and had demanded locks put on all her rooms to keep out those who would steal the vials that she poured all her hard work into. Thankfully the matron had been livid as well and had threatened all the servants and her sisters with a week's worth of torture. That had ended the prying fingers of her sisters' servants. Still..Min chose to lock all her rooms just for safety's sake. One day she hoped to have protection spells put on them to keep others from coming within a two foot radius of her rooms.
Min'hyvair had meanwhile made her way to her laboratory and had let herself in and locked the door behind her. She glided over to the counter and opened the small wooden case that was covered with shining runes, and pulled out a glowing purple liquid. A small smile came over her face as she looked into it. "Perfect, its finally finished its sitting period. Now..for a test of the potion."
Min walked over to a small cage in the corner of the lab and peered down at the gristly form of a ratlike creature which was gnawing at the bars in an attempt to escape.
"Now now," she said in an almost sickly sweet tone. "You don't want to escape, not before you get a dose of this sweet stuff. It will make you stronger and much more difficult to be killed, If I'm right. If not, well that's just your fate. I can't go giving it to Ka'da without knowing what will happen, now can I?"
