Educated gentleman
It was rare for Morgan Rosenwald to be nervous and yet it was nerves that kept the young Nu Mou boy up this night. Tomorrow he would be starting school at the liberty center. It would be Morgan’s first day or formal schooling and he wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. He was pretty sure he was smart even if he was a bit behind. Due to when he and Skylar had last grown their fathers had decided it was too weird for them to start school mid semester and they would wait for the fall. They’d been home schooled until then and Morgan only hoped he was ready to join the classes he and Skylar had been placed in.
Aside from his nerves though the white haired boy was prepared. Over the weekend they’d gone school shopping and he now had backpack full of supplies that felt like it weight a ton. Some of the things like the pencil crayons and weird circle drawing tool he was excited to use though. Stuff like the billion pounds of paper in little notebooks just seemed pointless. Shouldn’t the schools give him paper? Wouldn’t he have a desk to keep things in so he wouldn’t have to carry it all around?
There was so much he was certain of based on what tv and his father had told him but so much he could only really know once he was there.
As he tossed and turned in bed now Morgan was torn between being nervous and excitement. Soon he would know how he stacked up against the rest of the class and soon he would have a whole bunch of kids his age he’d see every day. The fact that some would be like him from cabbages was also a plus, perhaps they too would have magic like him. Except he was pretty sure his had something to do with what he was, something about Nu mou Magics. The child had had little time and no resources to research this over the summer though. Maybe the school library could help?
It was going to be a night of fitful sleep for Morgan but eventually the boy would get some of the rest he would need to take on his first day of school.
~
Completely unaware of his brother’s predicament in the next room over Skylar slept peacefully stretched out on his bed. School was just another thing to be taken and adapted around for him. Though he hadn’t liked the idea of having to do the same things everyday his father had promised him it would be worth it. Skylar trusted the man’s words and thus he had no concerns well except for the ones currently appearing in his dreams. He’d gone to school normal but then suddenly he was a dog wearing a backpack and people were chasing him.
Skylar frowned in his sleep disturbed at the thought, in the morning though he wouldn’t even remember it.

A difficult decision
By all rights he should have left him there with those crazy little kids. If he'd been sane he'd have told them to keep the Bony little infant and pawn him off on someone else. As it was he had Morgan and then Skylar by proxy; the two young Nu mou boys were by no means anywhere near being independent yet. To bring another child into the home meant dividing his attention even further and that of course would make it a juggling act especially with an infant needing far more care than a regular baby.
He could only hope the twins would forgive him, for the moment they seemed intrigued by the reaper child but if that was last was something only time would reveal. It didn't help at all that his younger brother Caleb was being pissy about it, okay so he hadn't warned him ahead of time and okay he did plan on also using the kid in his work but still.. It wasn't like this was the worst thing he'd ever done.
It also wasn't as though he was just going to use the boy.. Nate as a tool. yes he would be raised in a certain way and yes he could be exposed to things many children were not but Phillip would still be careful with him. The boy was still like Morgan, his son; that would always comes first, the family aspect. He would take care of Nate, teach him more than just about ghosts and he would make sure the child never lacked for anything he could give him. It was the best any parent could really offer in his opinion. Anything beyond that was just hopes and dreams that would lead to stress if they couldn't be fulfilled.
Of course justifying the thing wasn't the issue, what Phillip was struggling with was why he'd chosen to bring Nate home. From the sounds of things those weird kids knew how to get guardians for them , it didn't need to be him right? The medium hadn't felt any weird magic going on around him either so that wasn't it. Couldn't have been looks becuase well.. Nate was never going to charm the ladies and even as baby he lacked the cute most had. In the end Phillip supposed it was fate that had made him accept the offer of guardianship. Fate that landed him with an unexpected child who now lay mere feet away from his bed in Morgan's old crib.
Fate had a lot of explaining to do eventually.
