thanks it helps a lot just one more question i got the marimba part last week and band camp is next week our last practice before camp is tomorrow now I'm not particularly good at mallet instruments so i can get the parts with quarter notes and 8th notes (couldn't spell it out) but things like triplets and sixteenth notes are really complicated so this will be bad so what should i do about it Mr.Luchich ( I think that's how it's spelled) he might switch those parts with kyle the xylophone but what can i do if he doesn't won't that f**k up the show at competitions and football game performances? and about the physical limits i think i'll be ok 8 years of karate start to pay off after a while
Just work at it. find one of the upper classmen and get together after practice and have them help you. I promise we don't bite (but I sometimes wonder XD)
As for triplets and 16th notes don't hit them head on and at full speed. Start out slow and make sure you can play it slow then start slowly speeding it up until you reach show tempo. I know that I have to play 16th notes at 160 this year.
here's how I count them out
triplets:
one-la-li two-la-li (and so on) 1-la-li 2-la-li
16ths:
one-a-n-d two-a-n-d (and so on) 1-a-n-d 2-a-n-d
subdivide it makes it easier to count it out
