“She’s no more a lady then you are a gentlemen sir.” Toulouse snapped his blue eyes blazing. “When I want the opinion of a mortal I shall ask for it.” Red spots of anger flared on the boy’s face as he turned away from Kurios, presumptuous fool that he was. Though, he remembered how Julien had told him to be nice that day at the park. Well, he wouldn’t stoop so low as to apologize but he didn’t have to speak to the man again if he couldn't be civil. He really was never good with his temper.
Toulouse looked at Kashya for a moment. Ignoring Kurios and Felicity’s conversation completely, Toulouse centered his attention back on what Kashya had said. “No I suppose I don't have the same problem as you.” He replied more gruff than he wanted to be, watching the way how Kashya had cutely clutched at her chin. Gentler he said, “It’s not a big deal really you know. Everybody’s different in that aspect of things. What do you like about nighttime?” Toulouse was genuinely curious about this, as he had never liked the night one bit. He wanted to know what good someone saw in it, since her couldn’t see it for himself.
Felicity’s mouth gaped in horror at the comment Toulouse made. He said things like that to her but never to anyone else before. Felicity generally ignored him and gave no comment. Was it because Kurios was a guy? “I am so sorry! Please just ignore him and anything he says. He just a little sensitive about weird stuff like that.” Felicity whispered the last part, hoping that Kurios wouldn’t take offense. Trying more lightheartedly, she continued, “I really don’t know since you put it that way. Maybe he really didn’t come from an egg. I could definitely believe that. Toulouse is a little odd, so what’s one more thing?”

Kurios watched the small child look away, temper that one had. He found himself glad for Kashya’s much quieter and gentler nature. His ears caught on that last ‘mortal’ part, but he didn’t wish to enquire anymore than necessary, and it wasn’t a necessity. “Boys will be Boys,” he said stiffly, shaking his head to clear the thoughts. He was the older one here after all. ( lolz, that’s what he thinks xD ) “Is he a handful?” He asked, trying not to pry too deeply and continually telling himself he didn’t have to feel the sympathy he was for her. Toulouse was probably very different at home, when he wasn’t around strangers. Then again, he was acting fine with Kashya.
That’s what Kurios had said as well. Everyone was different, and she had found that out with Julien. His question threw her though, why was it that she liked the night over day? She liked it because it was cooler, because the winds running through the trees always sounded louder, because the light always changed depending on the phase it was in. But she liked it most because it felt welcoming, how she felt a sense of bliss as she looked into the dark. When she looked at the stars, at the sky, at the moon, it felt familiar, like she was part of it. “Because while the daylight is foreign to me, the night feels as if that is where I should be. It brings only thoughts of celebration,” Kashya was forced again to consider the restricting nature of words, for as descriptive as they could be, they had failed to convey her true affections once again. “What do you like about the day?"

“Well, yes and no.” Felicity said with a shrug. “It’s hard to get through a normal conversation without him freaking out…but he doesn’t really need that much attention. Toulouse is pretty independent and self-propelled. I don’t have to do much for him at all, except talk to him once in awhile and make sure he‘s not dead or something. What about Kashya? She seems so sweet. I couldn’t even fathom her giving you any problems.” Felicity smiled at the little girl, looking at her curious features.
Toulouse held back a snort, as he listened to Felicity talk. She had no idea. To Kashya he said, “That’s…interesting. Are you part of the darkling throng then? They speak of the night in much the same way.” Toulouse wasn’t sure what else to say, because her idea of the night was so foreign to him. Toulouse didn’t hate it, but he didn’t like it. He thought about what Kashya had asked him. Why did he like daylight?
Toulouse though for a moment. “Well,” he started, “There’s just something about standing on an open plain during high noon that speaks to me. There’s no shadows and no creature that can hide from the brilliant light. It reveals the monsters for what they truly are. The Truth is finally found. That why I like the day.” Toulouse ended his thought like he ended a school paper.

Kurios smiled, a clear indication of his fondness for Kashya. The little girl had only been staying under his care so long, but he already felt a string affliction for her. He eyes jumped to her for a second before returning to Felicity. “She’s very quiet, hardly gives me trouble. I don’ think I could have asked for a girl so polite…though occasionally I wish she would speak up a bit more,” he added, thinking about the few times she did reveal her opinions. Actually, when he thought about it, her quietness was in fact, effectively keeping her separated from him. He likes and dislikes, he didn’t know much about those. She was just ‘a good girl’ and he found the thoughts slightly disturbing. He pushed them away, effortlessly keeping the smile on his face.
Darkling throng? Kashya knew nothing of these, and she didn’t even pretend to the blonde to have any idea what they were. She remained listening to him quietly. His ideas of why the daylight was good, was just as odd to her as her loves of night where to him. “If that is true, then it sounds as if playing games of hide and seek are useless in the day,” she commented with a timid smile, turning their conversation away from their dislikes of one another. She wondered what games Toulouse might like.

“Have you talked to her about this?” Felicity asked. “I don’t want to undermine your relationship or anything, but is she uncomfortable telling you things because you’re a boy? I only say this cause I was the same way when I was younger.” Felicity laughed a bit remembering how boys, even her own father, had cooties. “Well, whatever the reason, I’m sure she’ll open up to you in time.” The redhead added encouragingly.
Toulouse laughed. “Only if you want to lose I suppose.” Toulouse saw Kashya’s timid smile and his own widened. How young she was! “What games to you like to play? Do you like hide-and-seek best?” He queried lightly. “I’m a chess man myself.”

“It could be that,” Kurios agreed with a strong nod. The idea had passed his mind once or twice, and perhaps it had been the reason he continued waiting for her to say something to him. Weather it be weeks, months, or years, she would be computable enough to speak to him eventually. He would just have to be patient, and not rush into it, though it was tempting to try at times.“ I’ll just have to wait then, won’t I?” Kurios asked to no one in particular.
Kurios blinked his eye for a second when the movement of a couple next to Felicity and himself made him look more closely at their actions. He had at first thought nothing of their movements, just two people doing what people in a relationship did, but as the female figure told her partner to look upwards, and raised her hand, Kurios let his gaze follow her point as well. At first there was no movement in the skies, just twinkling stars and then, one of those stars began to fall. It was so quick, if he had batted an eye he would have missed it. “Kashya, Toulouse, Look up!” he said, wishing to share the view with them, two or three more stars also began to fall as he told them to do so. “Guess the weather man was right,” He said with a peek at Felicity.
Kashya thought for a moment, considering her favourite game to play. Was it hide and seek, as Toulouse had suggested, or maybe it was when she played ‘go fish’ with Kurios one night. “I like to play ‘I-spy’ best,” she said. “followed by ‘go fish’. But I would like to learn ‘Chess’ one day, so that I can play with Toulouse if that is the game he likes best. Even if I won’t be any good-” Kashya was cut off as Kurios ushered them to look skywards, and her eyes followed obediently. Her hands gave a soft clap as she looked onto the descending lights with awe.

Whatever Toulouse was about to say was interrupted by the shooting of stars across the night sky. The bright lights illuminated the nightscape making everything glow. “Oh wow! That is incredible!” Toulouse hooted craning his neck back so he could get a better view. The brilliant fall of shooting stars was blinding just as it was amazing. Toulouse had never seen anything like it before. How curious is all was!
“Oooh!” Felicity cooed awed by the sight of it all. “I told you this was a good idea Toulouse.” She nudged him with her elbow, glad that she had put up the fight to bring him up on the mountain. He looked to be enjoying it too.

Like Felicity, Kashya could not help herself but to marvel as the shimmering being descended from their carefully positioned heights in the sky. Besides her, she could hear Felicity making exclaims of joy, before she remarked something to Toulouse mirroring her own thoughts and what she had been thinking. Would Toulouse regret the upset which he had caused on being here now that he saw the beauty which had taken its time to come about? It was almost as if the stars themselves had chosen to wait out their fall for dramatic effect, and to let groups converse over their excitement first. She sensed d a dangerous familiarity with the scene but didn’t let the thought cloud over her fascination to watch. Though the thoughts let her mind be hers, they propelled her feet over to Toulouse slightly, as if he had some anchor to the familiarity. It felt like the boy whom she had known for hardly long at all, should have more importance on the matter, than even Kurios. Whether it be for better or worse she knew not. “Where do you think they will fall?” she asked Toulouse, keeping her eyes to the spectacle.
Kurios laughed as Felicity gave Toulouse a nudge, perhaps he would be glad to have come, along with the rest of the sitting audience. He awed over the stars which fell almost too quick to be seen, and at the others which shone brightest.

Kashya was speaking to him but Toulouse was rapt with the beauty of so many stars all falling at once. It had been many a long time since he had seen such a thing so he replied to Kashya is a misty kind of way,
“Up and down the people go/Gazing where the lilies blow/Round an island there below/The island of Shalott.” Toulouse’s voice lilted softly upon each verse ending the last word with a breathy whisper. This night was not one for idle talk. It was time for a reverent silence at what nature had to behold in all her glory.
Felicity smiled a little at Toulouse. She had never heard him peak so strangely before. It was as if his words held some kind of true meaning for where the stars were really falling too. Maybe they were falling into the faerie vale.
It was all too soon when the shower stopped and the last brilliant star faded into the inky black of the night sky.

Both Kurios and Kashya remaind silent as the light show came to a close, and they held their breath to see if anymore would fall. The whole place was silent as people waited, and then a low wave of disapointment fell as they began to reliase the show was over.
Kashya, who was bewitched by the view, at last found herself, swallowing back as she realised her throat began to dry.
"well..." kurios said, breaking the code of silence.
