Lets play a marching game.
One person has to have an idea for a marching show, and the next person has to make something about the theme go horribley wrong.
ie
Me: Our new theme for 2008 is duct tape!
The next person: The band director becomes mad at the kids, and duct tapes them to each other during the performance.
Our new theme for 2008 is Elastic waistband!
See, just have fun with it!
Okay, Our new theme for 2008 is Cannon fire!

The closest thing to cannons the director can find is pop guns.

your band directors decide to make the planets out of concrete, and during one of the preformences it falls off one of its support beams and kills half of the band.

Lightning hits the machine in the middle of the field, spreading sparks everywhere and lighting the field on fire.

The art class makes a giant paper mache Dinkle, but it is too heavy for anyone to carry around on the field.
The new theme is Coca Cola.
