I do believe the meanings to nerds, geeks and dorks are a bit different. My friends are mostly in the nerds/geeks categories but I believe we all have a bit of dorks in us as well lol. Now if you want to get technical...then we DONT have whale ding dongs razz .

i thought they all refered to people who r overly smart, wear glasses, read a lot, and r obsessed w/ computers or something... and my friends and i call ourselves gleeks (girl geeks), so u can add that to the list

ur definitions r better tho..

This is like the agrements my friends have Sam causes Ariel a nerd but Ariel says she's a dork it gets alittle weird

You have a friend called Ariel??? Oh my God that's like the coolest!
(I'm such a geek! xp )

lol, Gleek. That's such a fantastic word.....I may just have to steal it.....MWHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!

I took that Nerd, Geek, Dork test. The result I got was Computer Savant. I got a percentage for Nerd, Geek and Dork, I got the highest percentage for Geek! I think Geek sounds cooler than the other two....

OK, I'm convinced....there are subtle differences the words Nerd, Geek and Dork, but they are pretty much interchangeable.

lol, if anyone calls me a Dork or a Nerd from now on, I'm gonna say "HEY! I'm a Geek actually!" (or Gleek.....that'd probably only increase my geek status! mwahahahahhaaaa!!!!!!

Well, there is a big difference in my opinion. I am a nerd who gets all the best grades even though (s)he never studies anything... It generally includes being mad about RPGs and fantasy books too... Geeks are the ones who are stuck on one subject forever... Like my brother who is a computer geek... But he is normal... Well, in some way. And dork is definitely a negative thing to say. It means impossible to talk to because their mind is focused on one thing and won't talk to people because they can't understand anyway. sweatdrop

I got Pure Nerd on that test.
And the last sentence was something like - These days being pure nerd means being purely successful. Nerds FTW! blaugh

I don't really agree with that because I class me and my boyfriend as Geeks, we're overly passionate about alot of things, which makes us geeky. We love RPGs, comics, computer games, card games, painting figurines, watching TV and movies and I have a tendancy to snort loudly whenever I laugh. But we're not so good at academic stuff, or know the ins and outs of a computer. I'm on a computer quite a bit most days and know quite a bit more than the rest of my family about them, but if there's a problem with it and Ctrl, Alt and Delete don't work then I tend to brand said computer as "********". So I don't think geeks/nerds are stuck on one subject forever, or always that good at academic stuff.
Just depends on the individual person really.....

I'm just plain weird. I took this personality test with my buddies (my fellow Thumbless Hand of Justice members!--Don't ask...) and we all turned out to be "Absolutely adorkable." This definition refered to dorks as people who are different and make no attempt to conform bacause they like doing things a little wacky. So that's what I am.

I think those definitions are perfect. People within those categories tend to be friends with each other so that's probably where the association comes from. I really don't think they are synonymous at all.
