Vincente They did a Longcat item... are they just retarded or what? Did they learn NOTHING from the Subeta raids? I wish they had a facepalm emoticon, cause I really need it right now. I'm a little lost. Could you mention what the Subeta raids are?

Anger ensued from /b/tards and /i/nsurgents, they choose to literally MURDER subeta's site, and threaten the owners website with death. With thousands of Subeta (and Gaia users, who shared the same account name and password) hacked, and the website in shambles, Subeta folded. They removed the longcat item, and as the /b/tards would put it "went to bed".
Though, I doubt Gaia's organizers will fold under such pressure. The channers would realize that they would be under fierce legal fire if anything happened to the admins, IRL. Not to mention Gaia is a highly evolved website, hacking attempts would be stopped dead in their tracks.

I haven't even gotten all the items yet. T.T; Also, if the channers really do attempt to do pull the s**t that they did last year, they will be under many legal issues in real life. Gaia will crack down, they've done so before, they will again.
Also, please note, nearly half of the original Gaia Items [2003, 2004] were taken from RO.

it kind of helps that about a fourth of 4chan probably have accounts here.

I am... extremely disappointed with Gaia on this issue.
We've known for a long time that Gaia was slowly turning into 4chan... but instead of trying to stop it, they just help it right along.
It's like if there were a sewage leak in the building, and instead of trying to plug it, they built a system of pipes to quickly and easily transfer it all over the floor.

We've known for a long time that Gaia was slowly turning into 4chan... but instead of trying to stop it, they just help it right along. Have you ever been on 4chan? It's all porn and stupid memes and I've gotta say, Gaia is far from becoming that. They are using some 4chan memes with the hats, but they're more or less harmless ones, most of them simply being from lolcats, which is different. All that is is a silly site with captioned pictures of cats doing funny things.

The thing is that Lanzer and the crew know about 4chan, and they have said before that they are actually amused by it. I think that by promoting these items, they're just having fun with the site, as immature and hostile as 4chan is. Like Vince said, there's a lot of 4chan users on Gaia, despite the "gaiafag" insult used on 4chan. Plus, the memes in the Hats aren't really a reflection of 4chan's hatred for everything. Ceiling cat, Epic Fail, Longcat... they're not as "negative" as say, IMMA CHARGIN MAH LAZER, CP, or Rule 34. If 4chan were to get worked up about the issue, I think the Admins would soundly be able to handle it. If I have a problem with ANY of the hats, it's the monorail cat on a halo.
