What does the pentacle mean to you?
For mean it has an aesthetic purpose. It serves as inspiration.

As inspiration.

Many people automatically associate the Pentacle with witchcraft and Wicca, but why?
Mainly because of SRW.

What does it mean to you as a witch/pagan?
I’ll erase this feeling…
I still have a long life don’t I?

As a pagan it could mean as protection. As an artist it serves as inspiration.
I’m missing the feeling…
so this pain is also welcomed!

How do you feel about wearing your pentacle? I wear mine proudly every day. It's part of who I am.

My feelings exactly. I like pentacles and pentagrams, I just rarely use these symbols at all. I tend to use other symbols or create my own sigil when in need of using a symbol.

I think for me, it's also partly that there is such a stereotype that follows it and when people wear them. It usually first and foremost makes people think witch or witchcraft which I do practice but my faith isn't just about the spell work for me. It's a way of life and my core and for me personally I just tend to find other symbols that express my faith better. As always though to each is their own.

Your welcome xP

It's not so much the stereotype for me however, I just have my own symbol, and I don't exactly work with sigils or runes anymore, so most symbols went out the window for me, although it's still nice to know some of them, you never know when the need may come up for you to know.

Why do you think you would use the pentacle in magic?
I will give my all

I never understood why people automatically assume all pagans identify with the pentacle. I don't as it has no purpose to my path. Just has been an irritation of mine for a while.

I don't assume that it belongs to any Pagan path that isn't witchcraft centric. I know better. There is no use for it in Kemeticism, Hellenic Paganism, Religio Rom.ana, Germanic pagan (except for the witchcraft traditions), and any other tradition I haven't mentioned. I don't use it when i am holding a blot to the Aesir and Vanir. I don't use it in worship of Pan. I'm not sure if it belongs in Strega or not. I only associate the pentacle with witchcraft traditions.

Explain an Upside down pentacle/pentagram.

I thought they meant winding down of energy. I was told that you use an upright pentacle/pentagram as a means for raising and the inverted for winding down. I thought it was right but then a friend of mine corrected me by saying the inverted is for Satanism. I thought Satanism had an inverted pentacle with an elongated point at the bottom so now I'm not sure.

And yes I do know the difference between the two. I add them together because my friend says they are the same thing upright or inverted.

Your thoughts are correct. Though many witches draw the pentagram differently for banishing and invoking with out using the inverted pentagram.

I think in the end its a reminder of who we are just as the cross is a reminder to christians. Its something to keep us from doing things that we probably shouldn't do that could harm us or others. I wear a pendant that isn't a pentacle but a celtic knot and I have never found a meaning for this specific knot so I think of it as a Life knot the ins and outs of life and I wear it daily my husband thinks its odd but I don't I almost feel naked without it.

I have a swarovski crystal crescent moon necklace with a silver chain. I love the thing. I got it.... maybe around the time that I started practicing witchcraft and I never take it off. It seems wrong to take it off.
I have other necklaces, like my gorgeous but simple silver pentacle that I got from my guy, but I cannot seem to take the moon necklace off. I fear for it's safety. Like it'll get lost or something. Hahaha

You have asked a great question. For me, the pentacle means unity. Every elemental, all of nature, and all of the universe are all connected, and the pentacle is a symbol that reminds me of that. It's also a sign of protection, much like how Christian's use the cross. It's a rather calming protection symbol to me.

As I understand it, the pentacle represents many things. It represents the four elements of the material plane as well as the spirit/soul. It represents the human form. It represents the cycle of life, death and rebirth. It represents wisdom as well. (I have read that at one time in medieval Europe it was actually forbidden to cut apples across their middle rather down the center. Try it and you will see a familiar symbol; The pentacle! Goes hand in hand with the Christian mythos about the "fruit of knowledge".)

For the path that my wife and I have been treading for the past 14 years though, we do not use the pentacle in our works, having adopted a related symbol with far less of a stigma than its five pointed brethren - the seven pointed Fae Star; Though for us it has nothing to do with Fae, but with seven principles to enlightenment, seven primary deities with whom we recognize most strongly, and while each point represents the same as the pentacle the final two in our path represent an oath of truth and an oath of willingness to act on behalf of others.

Personally I see nothing wrong with the pentacle, but it is a symbol that through medieval propaganda developed nearly as bad of a stigma as the swastika did during the 20th. Thankfully all but the most prejudiced of the monotheistic individuals have dismissed this archaic stigma as being paranoia based propaganda.
