I have to admit ive only played a fender once a long time ago. But ive never had trouble with getting the sound i want out of my gibsons. I have a les paul studio and a es-135. Both have been very good guitars and I would choose Gibson over Fender just because i've had good experiences.

Thats actually what I did with an epiphone goth explorer, put EMG, metal knobs, all the custom parts. plays sweet, but the epiphone and gibson explorers are different. Gibsons have sharper corners and angles and epiphones are more blunt. if you don't care about that then you're better off with Epiphone..

Who wouldn't pick gibson? Although I wouldn't actually buy either (too overpriced, I want to pay for a guitar not royalties on a name) Gibson makes some FAR superior guitars for any genre. The end.

Well, it all depends on what type on music you want to play. Gibsons are honest to god rhythm guitars, and they also have a very filling sound, due to the more solid and heavier bodies.
Fender is a pretty versatile guitar, but without the right setup most of them sound hollow, then again most are bolt on and pretty light.
Between the two, I would choose Fender.
I used to co-own a guitar shop, so I've had experience with countless of each.

gibson but I feel that gibsons mainly look cooler but fenders (along with being cheaper) have better electronics

I would have to say Fender has alot better quality, because 9/10 gibsons have something wrong with them. (My uncle owns a repair shop, we only had 4 fenders with a manufacturing error) But gibson has better tone and play chords so much better.
I chose Gibson, just because I am a rhythm guitar player

Currently owning an Epiphone and a Paul Reed Smith, I can't say that I can give an educated vote until I've played a Fender. But so far, the Gibson's very satisfying.

I would say gibson. I have owned a les paul and an sg and both those sound incredible. But you can make great sounds of any kind of music with the les paul. Gibson is the way to go (in my opinion)
