Ver chuckled softly under his breath. "No, not adopted. Conceived. I have genetic traits from both of them, which is probably why I look so feminine." It was still puzzling to him as well. While women can't conceive without a male counterpart he was conceived along with his other three brothers without that male counterpart.
For one reason or another his brothers didn't find it too out of the ordinary, yet being the more logical thinking one in the family he still had his mind wrapped around the confusion that was his birth.
He smiled as Thorn looked into his eyes. Yes, they were the same color as two of his tails, but perhaps it was because she wasn't looking for anything in specific. "Well, if you look in a mirror you see your eyes have a small little white shine to them. That shine defines a soul in you," he paused, closing his eyes, relaxing his back on the board of the couch, still holding the egg gently in his arms, "but my shine is missing...I don't have a soul, Thorn."
Inside him a small pang hit his heart. He hated admitting it because he was very self-conscious about the situation. He wanted to go outside for once in his life. But that was completely impossible.

"......................."
That made no sense. The luck's expression shifted from casual observation to pure confusion. It was a sort of culture shock to say the least.
The rest of what Ver had to say almost came across as a wash of words that melted together. Comprehension was going to be very slow since her mind wasn't really focusing on the words as they were said, but rather wondering what he could mean he was conceived of two females.
"......................."
"......................."
"........wait, what?" Her eyes blinked as she once more went to look to Ver's eyes. Her eyes narrowed slightly as if looking a bit more harshly this time.

Ver sighed a little, rubbing the back of his head. It was somewhat confusing he knew, but she had to know the reason why he couldn't go outside. Otherwise when the children would hatch she would yell at him about going outside more. If it were up to him she would never know, but now that she was questioning it she had to know.
"Well, you see- my mothers were created not born. Because they were 'created' their creator did not make them a soul. It's nothing to big of a deal, but they are not allowed to leave the place they were created at, meaning the cabin, or else they disintegrate into dust," he paused, twirling a strand from his bangs boredly. It was a bad habit and he was working on it...eventually, "so when my mothers gave birth to us three of us, including myself, were born like them; without a soul. One of my brothers has a soul so he can go outside, but without a soul of my own I can't really leave the cabin.
"As for having two mothers...well honestly don't ask me. Better yet- don't even ask them. They wouldn't understand, believe me." Ver finished off with a shrug, gliding a finger through the small feathery wing of the egg again, watching it flutter slightly from the touch.

She'd continue to practically stare the male in the eyes as he talked, and even after he had finished, she still stared into them.
"...So you are like a vampire in the sun if you are caught outside of the cabin? Is that was you are telling me?" Her brow quirked a bit as she simply related it to some other arena of the occult world.

Ver stared blankly at Thorn as she called him...a vampire. Well he didn't really feed off of blood, he just couldn't go outside. The soulless male scratched the back of his hair, trying to find a better way to explain this conundrum.
"Well...not really a /vampire/ to say the least. I can't go outside, at all, not just at daylight. But if I do go outside the cabin I get turned into dust, basically." Ver shrugged, hoping she could understand what he was trying to say. It was difficult because normally...well normally Kitsusagi had souls. Yet he didn't have one, so he was bound to the cabin because of it.

Thorn growled slightly at him as he misunderstood her as well.
"...Let me repeat what I said, so you understand better. 'So you are like a vampire in the sun if you are caught outside of the cabin?' I am not saying you ARE a vampire... but similar to one in the fact you could turn into dust given a particular stimulus..."
She shook her head from side to side before setting it down on the couch next to Chrysanthemum's egg.

Ver bit his tongue. Very hard. He did not want to get into a fight with Thorn, especially when he was trying to be serious about this matter.
"Well, yes. I turn to dust if I step out of the limits of the cabin. It's not my choice, but I'm fully aware of it." He sighed, watching the wings on the egg ruffle a little. It was a sad life and it would be one he would live for the rest of his days.

A question peeked in her mind, so she had to ask it. It was very important to her to know what Ver was even thinking in his head, especially in regards to parent-hood.
"...if you knew that there was a chance of this being passed onto your children... why did you...?" Her statement lingered off a bit, seeing as she didn't want to speak of the physical actions that had occured.
He had mentioned both his mothers had no souls, though she still didn't get how he could have two genetic mothers, and how many of the offspring ended up having no souls either.

Ver inwardly sighed. He was a bit shell-shocked himself. Why did he risk it? Would there have been less of a chance because Thorn had a soul? Was that why he thought that he could have children with her. Maybe it was because he just wanted to matter to something. All his brothers were now old and took care of themselves. Maru and Moro had Larg and Soel. Yet he was simply rotting away day after day in that corner in his room of the cabin. Why did he decide to have children in the end?
In the end he couldn't even answer her question. He doesn't regret having two eggs now, children waiting to be born in each one of them. Yet he does regret not having a legible reason to have them. But does that make them a mistake?
