[You don't have to! If you don't take a flying Kyn, you get first pick for playing True Kyn! Trust me, we really do need both!]

(Now that I think about it, I might have enough to attempt a bribe for a winged one... ninja

...if there were bribes in this shop. xd )

[You'll see!]

The Lunar and his young Gargoyle protégé had no need to wait long after the howl. After half an hour there was a disturbance, a line moving across the sea. It became more defined as it grew closer, a powerful wall of water trailing an enormous wake, moving at incredible speed! The way the water was thrown up, you could see how the winds crossed behind the lightning-fast cross-breed.

Suddenly he hit the beach and raced across the plains, still unidentifiable due to his speed. He shot straight up the face of a cliff and suddenly slowed down, then launched up over the top and was framed as a dark silhouette in the sky for a moment, his left front leg extended and gleaming like an iron talon before he flipped forward and landed on all fours, crouching. This close to Eclipse, it was clear just how much larger Tigris was, at least twice the Lunar's size, perhaps three times. His voice was low, a warning growl if they had wasted his time.

"... You called me?"

Nightmare fidgeted as they waited, pacing back and forth, jumping into the air, flying small circles before landing next to an unmoving Eclipse. This was his first time out of the den, and he was nervous. He knew though, that what he was doing may involve the fate of a whole species! This truely excited him.

But then again, what if he never sees papa again? A small yellow streak could be seen against the black sky as Nyte's tail flicked back and forth through the air.

Both the Lunar and the Gargoyle were surprised as Tigris appeared over the edge of the nearby cliff and landed almost right next to Eclipse.

Nightmare stumbled backwards, tripped over a small rock and landed in a heap of wings and talons. The young kyn quickly rearranged himself upright, suddenly wishing that he was a lot smaller, so small that the new Kyn wouldn't see him.

Nightmare has never seen any Kyns other then Eclipse, and Tigris frightened him. It might be because the half Truekyn seemed so confident, so unwavering. It was unnerving.

Eclipse winced as Nightmare put on that embarrassing little show. Eclipse then turned to Tigris, finding himself instinctively lowering his body. He barely even noticed this, but later he would realize it was the same sign of submission he showed to rosemary back at the Den.

"I was deeply disappointed that I could not be of more service to the Truekyns. I have been taking care of this young one for the past few while, and he is willing to go to the Island of Death. He is unbonded and my human does not know of him, so his presence will not be missed."

Nightmare didn't know what he was supposed to do...er...

"Hi there, m'name's Nyte!"

Eclipse retrained himself from burying his head under his paws. Perhaps Nyte was still too young for this...

But Nightmare was a great flier, that Eclipse was sure of. Eclipse had constantly watched Nyte fly around the spacious battle Arena, and he had to admit the kid was better at somethings then their princess, Rosemary. As a hatchling, he hasn't been able to stay airborne for more then a few hours, but even that small amount of time was a great feat for a Kyn his age.

If only Nyte would show a little more finesse...

The rough sandstone lump within a shallow cave near the plateau shifted, taking the shape of Rutilus the gargoyle. The unusual rushing of the wind had wakened him from fitful slumber. Slowly the large male made his way out of the deep shadows, stretching his wings, legs and shoulders. Compared to how he had appeared at the first meeting with Tigris, Rutilus now presented a decidedly more haggard countenance: he was still impressive in size and demeanour, yes, but there was less of the healthy fat stores from hunting (which had been sporadic at best), and a certain darkness about his eye that bespoke a lack of restful sleep.
After the halfbreed Truekyn had left to prepare the way to the Black Island, the gargoyle hadn't trusted himself to return to Crater Lake. He was needed by those trapped on the island (no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't think of them as Truekyn and those he knew as mere Others), and a second separation from his flight would be harder both emotionally and logistically. Anyway, his flightmistress might become suspicious; there was no telepathy in their bond (which the kyn still had not been able to forsake), but the human was good at reading her friends.
Rutilus looked up just in time to see Tigris' landing. Unbidden, a twinge of anticipation made itself known from within his chest. A few leaps and flaps of his wings saw the oversized male clambering over the plateau's edge as well. Folding his wings only halfway, the gargoyle waited silently for the word that it was time.
He wasn't sure he could wait here, alone, much longer.

Tigris looked down at Eclipse through the darkness, with merely a flick of the ear to each gargoyle. "You have done well. You will be rewarded in time, Otherkin." Slowly he raised his head, then, and sat. The notes he cried were a call to return, sent to the flying Kyn who first heard his call, or who learned of the Island of Death from one of them. The three Kyn assembled around him could hear the eerie, flowing tones clearly, all laced with a peculiar sound, a language that they could not understand, but pulled upon them nonetheless.

The message was aimed carefully for intended ears, but it swept across the continent, rousing those who would come from their beds.

His eyes opened as the call faded, and the tiger-like dragon lowered his head. "Now we shall wait. We will let them come to us, and then I will lead you." His eyes at last turned to examine the first two members of his entourage, and his nose rumpled. "Bah... so small, and so thin... The Emperor will not be pleased with me..." Without letting them respond, he turned away to pace and think, every fourth step punctuated by a clink of metal on stone.

Some time had passed between their first encounter, and Teith had waited as paitently as she could. During this time, A few extra members had made themselves known about the cave, namely the offspring of Aneth and sharketsu. However it felt quite empty here. Poke and the lunars had not returned, nor had toroth. It was hard not to feel rejection from her bonded.

Then one night, while the others lay sleeping, a melodious tune was heard throughout the lands. Teith awoke from her slumber and walked to the mouth of the cave. It was time. Tigris was calling them back. And she must follow the call.

Before she could leap of into the night, some barking was heard from below. Rinu had heard the call as well. But before teith could even speak to rinu, much less ask her if she were going to follow, The gargoyle had sprinted past her and lept into the air. Teith could only shake her head in amusement. Her companion didn't seem to dwell on any decision made. In quick pursuit the Japanese flew after rinu.

It didn't take long for them to reach Tigris, and as they spotted him in the distance they flew to the ground and landed, awaiting further instructions

After Tigris's first summons, Madoc had returned to his den to await the day they'd finally travel to the island. His clanmates didn't seem to have noticed his brief disappearance, but after he returned he made sure to take random "trips" away from the den for various lengths of time, ranging from a couple hours to slightly over a day, and once stayed out for nearly two days. Thesehad little purpose other than to get his bonded and clanmates accustomed to him leaving to indeterminate ammounts of time, so they would not come looking for him right away once he left. Part of the reason to delay such a search was so that they would not stop him from leaving or follow him to the meeting site, but part was also because he did not want them to worry too much. Even if they paid him no mind, he still cared somewhat for the happiness and wellbeing of others.

Finally the night came when Madoc again heard a call from afar. He had been flying wide, lazy circles in the air above the clan's den when the notes. He paused briefly before continuing his lazy flight, but this time he flew down into a nearby valley as if he had decided to hunt. Once he was sure he was ought of sight of the den, he changed direction and flew towards the meeting place. He picked up speed when he had gotten far enough from the den that he was sure nobody would see him.

A swift flight later and the small gathering came into view. Madoc slowed down a little so that he didn't reach them at top speed, though his pace was still fast. In moments he landed near another Japanese kyn and looked at Tigris.

"Is it time to leave now?" he asked the Lunar hybrid. His voice held a touch of eagerness and anticipation.
