Yes, those things bother me, too. But I have issues with evangelism, period. The way I see it, if people have to tell you that if you don't follow them, then you go to hell--damned forever, etcetera--to convert you, then their religion shouldn't exist, end of story.
That said, I've done in-depth religious studies, and love discussing my findings with people.
Oh, and Kohki? Next time they tell you to repent for crossdressing, ask them which Bible verse says that's wrong. I'm curious. And remind them that in Roman times, bracas, or pants, were considered effeminate, while togas were considered virile (though women wore togas, too...).
Funny how time changes all things....

SaintChaos Since I'm still fairly new to the guild, I have NO IDEA who's christian and who's not, but the point of my thread here is to be a smoothing agent for the crap I know gays have had thrown at them from Christians. Yes I'm christian and here's my what I'm going to say. The most common thing I've seen from Christians, thrown at gays is that if you're gay you automatically go to hell for being gay. That is complete and utter bull s**t! I've studied one of the most accurate versions of the bible and still do and there is NOTHING.....I repeat NOTHING in the bible that states you'll go to hell. So please for the love of god or whatever you believe in, don't listen to the hurtful words of idiots, imbeciles, or arrogant ignorant bastards who have nothing better to do but criticize and rant and yell over NOTHING. I thought I'd throw that out there and get that straight here and now, so even if any of you in here DON'T believe in god, but believe in maybe a good a bad after life, you WON'T GO TO HELL for being gay. If there's one thing I can relate with, is typical stereotypes and it infuriates me to see freaking IDIOTS out there bashing you guys for just being who you are. SCREW THEM! Please don't listen to them, its just a bunch of freaking lies. Actually, the only hell that ever scared me was Sartre's Hell, the "Hell is other people" thing. Boy, existentialists know how to scare the s**t out of you!
I'm also Wiccan. Yeah, a gay, liberal Wiccan...that goes over reeeeeally well here in South Carolina.
Altogether, I find most religious beliefs in a diety that controls all and that you should do whatever it says bogus. Add in the constant contradictions and narrow-minded bigots, and you've got yourself a whole recipe for unpleasantness.
But, to each his own, as long as that own doesn't affect my own.

You use, "Christians" as a complete generalization.
Not every person, who thinks of themselves, as a Christian does or says that.
Don't make generalizations.
And, I don't think people need permission what to and what not to listen to.
People make their own decissions.
And, I don't think this guild is about religion, so don't turn it into one by speaking about what the bible says, or doesn't say.

Don't go there, thank you. First off, it is PAINFULLY OBVIOUS that some people who state they are christian, actually aren't. Please leave your "obvious" generalizations out of this. You obviously missed the WHOLE point of my thread. You also are VERY hypocritical. I'm going to say this once and I won't say it again, the point of my ENTIRE THREAD was to show homosexuals that not all Christians are bigots or close minded idiots. That there are Christians out there who actually GO by the standards of the bible, not make up their own philosophies and interpretations. That there are Christians who CARE. That's what I'm here for, to show understanding, "kindness and truth". Something that also comes out of the bible. I didn't say that people need "my" permission to listen to whatever. I said they shouldn't HAVE to listen to the bullshitery of dimwits and closeminded idiots who think they know better. But then you go as far as to tell me where to take my religion and where not to? People like you make me sick. I'm not TRYING to turn this into some religious debate. I'm TRYING to be sympathetic. But you obviously didn't notice.
