Ari offered up a sheepish grin in apology. "I'm sorry, I misspoke. Of course you do." She simply had a different perspective on parents than Ari did--he, as every other modifox, had had parents, but he had never known them, and so he counted himself as parent-less. But because he thought of himself that way, didn't mean that all other foxes shared the same perspective.

"Yes, I'm sure Sigal and Ame will be wonderful parents to her," he agreed with Thea.

Thea chuckled softly, understanding what he meant. "No, it's alright. I just meant..." Thea trailed off, trying to understand exactly what she did mean. "I don't know." Thea confessed, shrugging lightly. "Conundrum--my brother-- and I raised Ricky as best we could. She made us think a lot about parents is all," Thea said, adding quickly with a smile, "But...you have nothing to be sorry for, Ari. It is alright. And I am definitely sure they will be, because Sigal was raised by you and Kazuki,"

And Thea wasn't even trying to suck up to her Elder--she was simply being honest and stating her opinion. Of which she had many, in all honesty, but she never ever spoke them outloud if she could help it...

...Except with Ari, it appeared. She found she actually liked talking with him.

Ari liked talking to Thea, too: she was calm, insightful, and had helped him take his mind off of Kazuki for a while. Well, until she had brought him up again, obviously...

Ari didn't bother to correct her about Sigal's upbringing, how he had stayed up during the days when she was young, to keep an eye on her, how Kazuki didn't seem to want much to do with her--and Ari didn't exactly blame him. Sigal had been his child with someone other than his mate. In Kazuki's position, he may very well have reacted the same way...

And even if they had had bad times like that, they had had good ones, too, and now Ari was back to missing his family as much as ever...

"Sorry," he muttered.

Seeming to form from the moonlight itself, a figure, larger even than the guardian which served her, stepped into the clearing.

It took her but a moment to spy the one she sought, one of her elders, in conversation with a paint splattered vixen.

Slowly, as if she bore little purpose here, she approached the pair. Her elder had fallen silent as soon as he had noticed her, and was quite obviously staring. For her part, she seemed to pay that no heed.

"You are now the sole elder of this tribe," she informed him. She disregarded his protests as she continued, "as the other elder is dead."

Ari openly gaped at seeing the Moon Fox here. At seeing her in person for the first time in his life.

He didn't even have time to figure out if he was shocked or confused or surprised or what before she spoke, and delivered the blow.

"What? But...Kazuki...no..." Ari felt the edge of his vision growing blacker than even the deepest night, before collapsing on the ground, unconscious.

It had started to approach its mistress, when she disappeared as suddenly as she had come, leaving its elder unconscious.

"A shaman. Which of you is a shaman?" it cried out, as it looked for help for its poor elder.

Michie, having still being unable to look away from his elder, and well, 'elder,' he noticed the large fox approach. Unable to help himself, he slowly crept closer, and immediately wished he had not. For as he came into hearing shot of the small group, he heard the stranger- whom he was sure was very important though in his youth he was a bit unsure of how- announce the death of Ari's mate. He froze, the news utterly horrible, and watched with unbelieving eyes as Ari collapsed.

A small sound, close to a whimper escaped him, but the sound was immediately lost as the guardian began calling for help for their beloved elder. Michie wanted nothing more than to run to the side of Ari, but even in his young innocence, he knew that he'd only be in the way. So instead, he watched on in horror.

The two sisters watched in aw as suddenly a large fox-like being appeared out of the moonlight before Ari and Thea. Could it be the moon fox herself? However, the meeting did not last long, and right before the moon vixen disappeared again, their elder had collapsed to the ground. "Ari!" "Ari!" the two cried in unison, rushing over to see what was wrong.

Having been closer to the two than her sister, Kin'iro was the first of the pair to arrive on the scene. "I am a shaman," she replied, immediately setting to work on checking Ari over. He didn't appear to have injured himself in the fall fortunately, and she could find nothing physically wrong with him. "It would appear he has fainted."

"What was it that she said?" Yudoku asked, looking directly at Thea. The paint-splattered vixen had been the closest after all, so she should know just what it was that had caused their elder to faint. The huntress didn't have a good feeling about the situation though.

Thea blinked blankly at the two sisters. "I...I...Ari's...Kazuki is...dead." Thea blinked, then cleared her throat and looked back at the tribe and announced, louder than she had ever herself.

"Ari is our sole Elder. Kazuki is..." Thea's voice faltered, her eyes watering slightly. But she made herself finish, knowing he whole Tribe needed to hear this.

"Kazuki is dead."

It has been a month and then some since the tribe was given the news, that one of their elders had died. None of the tribe had taken the news well, of course, but Ari...it seemed for a while as if he would simply let himself waste away, not eating, not talking, not even moving from where he had been, when the Moon Fox delivered the news to him.

However, with the help of Hala, and the rest of the tribe members, he pulled through, and slowly, ever so slowly, was being drawn out of the shell he had closed himself in.

The seasons had changed, from spring, now to summer, when the nights were shortest, but the life around the tribe the most abundant.

The summer solstice, and the Festival of Life are both drawing nearer, and perhaps soon the tribe will indeed have something to celebrate, as Ari begins to turn more outward from the shell into which he had withdrawn, and join the living once again.

Well, I suppose this is as good a time as any to introduce her... xD;

A small black fox peeked through a thick patch of bushes, her eyes trained on the foxes before her. She had begun to know these other foxes quite well; having been watching them for a little over a few weeks now. She had first found the tribe at a time of great sadness. She hadn't witnessed the direct cause of this tribe-wide distress, but it had been apparent in every single one of them from the start. Most prominently, the elder. This was why she had hid out for so long, instead of letting herself be known to the tribe. She hadn't wanted to intrude in such a tender time. Though, she hadn't been able to make herself leave, either. So, instead she had been hiding out and watching from a distance.

Over time, the tribe had seemed to pull itself slowly out of it's deep depression, including the elder. Though the pain was far from gone, time was still working its magic. It was also working on the small fox. She was starting to feel quite lonely, and a large hole had been gnawed in her resolution to stay away. Thus why she had dared to venture this close to the tribe; closer than she had ever let herself come before.

Sighing softly, she laid her head on her paws, and continued to watch the tribe's activities from her hiding spot.

((Okidoke, so this is a bit after the whole ArixThea PRP, but not much~ Also saying the TalixTora kids are kits here.))

Thea awoke slowly as night fell, grumbling under her breath to herself at nothing in particular--being pregnant was just awful...but soon the kits would be here, she imagined, and maybe she would have some clue as to who the father was...

Shaking her head to clear it, Thea looked around the little clearing, frowning lightly--she felt something...a kit, nearby...but the only kits she knew of where Vitali's and Mitora's, and this didn't feel like any of them...

Venturing away from her little resting place, Thea wandered closer to the woods, black eyes scanning the forest. Trees, sticks, grass, leaves of every color: red, yellow, blue...

...blue? Raising an eyebrow in surprise, Thea said softly, but loud enough so this leaf-dotted kit could hear her (because it had to be a kit, otherwise Thea wouldn't have been able to sense it...), "Hello?"

Then again. She could just be going crazy from this stupid pregnancy. Shaking her head to clear it, Thea looked around and spotted Anjafey, giving her a quick nod--yes, she figured tonight was as good a time as any for the little surprise the two girls had cooked up. Sure, it had been Thea's idea and the reason she'd left the Tribe in the first place, but still, she had promised herself that she would let Anja have the credit.

"It's alright to come out, you know. Nobody will hurt you here."

Reyes bounced on top of Daddy, biting at his ear. "Wake up! Wake uuupp, issniiiight time, wake up!" Reyes whined, gnawing insistantly. "C'mooonnn, Daaaddy. Mama! Wake up!" Reyes went to bounce off of Daddy, but he missed and landed on top of Fitzy instead.

...Oops.

Fitzroy yelped in surprise as Rey jumped on top of him, squeaking in a very undignified manner, "Mama!" before realizing it was just his stupid brother.

"Hey..." Fitz said, pouting gently as he tried to scooch away. "Gedoff..."

"Whyyy! C'mon, it's night time, wake uuppp you lazybutt," Rey said, starting to gnaw on his little brother's tail.

"That's enough," Vitali said lazily with a yawn, lifting up his bigger son into his mouth, despite his squeaks of protest. "Behave better, or I won't take you on that hunt night after next," Tali warned, internally chuckling at the look of panic that crossed his young son's face.

His son. Wow.

Shaking away the amazement that constantly renewed itself, Tali set him down and let him go play, looking then at his sleeping mate and daughter. Let them sleep, he agreed with himself. They needed it.

Yudoku had been awake for several hours now, prowling silently through the tribe's grounds. She had gotten quite used to diurnal living during her absence from the tribe, and it was difficult to fully break the pattern. Personally, she was fond of both sun and moon and had settled for a sort of compromise with her sleep. After all, if she went to bed just before the sun came up in the morning, she had plenty enough rest to be able to function and fulfill her duties properly while still enjoying a few hours of sunlight. It was especially easy to do now given the nights were so short in summer.

She had been feeling tremendously guilty for a while after Kazuki's death for her previous feeling of animosity toward the two elders. While she may not have been pleased with the large purple and black fox, she had never wished him dead, and it was painful to watch Ari suffer so much. Thus she had made a silent resolve within herself, and over time had transformed more back into the fox that she once was, bitterness faded away. Even if she never had kits, it would be alright. The tribe came first.

"Good evening, sleepy-head," the tri-colored vixen said softly, an amused smile on her face as she nudged her sister awake. "The sun is set."

Kin'iro woke reluctantly, one green eye opening to survey her all-too-awake sister. "You've been up early again," she stated simply, feeling the residual warmth of the sun on her sister's coat as she was nudged. "You do remember that we are in a nocturnal tribe, right?"

"A little sun never killed anyone," Yudoku replied, still smiling. "And you are no stranger to day-walking either. Come, it's been ages since we've hunted together."

The golden vixen chuckled as she slowly stood up and stretched. "I believe that would be because I'm not a hunter."

"Even more reason for you to stretch your legs."

She rolled her eyes, amused at her twin's insistence. "Whatever you say."

React froze as she watched the white, paint-splattered vixen turn towards her and call out softly. 'How did she know I was here so quickly?!' she thought, slightly panicked. She sat and cursed herself for allowing herself to come so close to the tribe. However, as the fox spoke the words 'no one will hurt you,' she calmed a bit. She had been able to tell the gentle nature of the tribe as she'd been watching them; but the fact that the lady fox in front of her spoke it so clearly truly calmed the kit.

Hesitating for only a few more moments, she slowly crept out of the bush, though still kept her belly close to the ground. Once she was about a foot from Thea, she stopped.

Thea smiled softly as the little kit came forward, laying down to be on eye-level with her.

"Hello," Thea greeted the tiny girl hesitantly, offering a shy smile of her own. "What's your name?" Thea asked, tilting her head curiously to one side. "My name is Thea,"

The surprise would have to wait a bit...since Anja had pointed out that Ari most likely would not appreciate it properly coming from her and all.

But Thea made herself focus back on the scared, shy little female in front of her.

"Would you like something to eat?" Thea asked after a few moments--where were her parents or siblings? How long had Thea been ignoring her duties for her personal problems, not noticing this little kit all alone? Though she did at least correct herself--her future children were not 'problems'.

React blinked as the face of the white vixen suddenly filled her view, but the smile that crossed the other's face calmed her again.

"Um, my name is...React," she replied softly. She smiled shyly back, instantly at ease with Thea. At the mention of food, her small stomach let out quite a loud growl, and React flushed red in embarrassment. I-I am hungry, yes." She answered quietly.

"You swing left, and I'll head in from the right."

"This is ridiculous. Are we seriously going to do this?"

"Yes! Come on, stop being such a spoil sport. It'll be fun."

"I don't see how. The poor thing doesn't even stand a chance."

"The fun is in the ambush. Now get moving!"

The conversation between the two sisters was whispered quickly and in hushed tones and good distance away from their intended "prey". It was a mere rabbit, one that the huntress could have easily caught on her own in a single pounce, but for whatever reason Yudoku seemed bent on having her sister participate. Kin'iro rolled her eyes at this and moved into position. Once she received the signal, the golden vixen pounced out of the bushes, scaring the small rabbit straight in the direction of her darker sibling. Yudoku in turn pounced on the rabbit once it was close enough and quickly broke it's neck. "There, feel better now?" Kin'iro remarked in dry amusement.

"Yes, actually, I do," she replied, unphazed as her sister simply rolled her eyes again. "And now you have yourself a small breakfast. Enjoy." Yudoku grinned at the look the shaman gave her.

"You really are a strange one."

"Perhaps. Don't care though."

(If they are somewhere nearby, React can be free to the rabbit. XD lol.)

Nato stretched and let out a long yawn before making his way over to his elder. Ari had been making progress, even if was just a little. Perhaps tonight would be a good night and he would be able to reach his elder. The dark male had been constantly worrying over his elder. The news the Moon Fox had delivered was painful for all of them but Ari had taken the news especially hard.

In a way, Nato was almost jealous. Ari at least would have peace of mind now knowing that Kazuki was dead and would not have to wonder every day if he was alive and hurt or if it was his fault he left. Ari knew what had happened to Kazuki. The same could not be said for Nato. A day didn't go by that he did not wonder about Amira and Anaru. Of couse, things were getting easier for him now that he had grandkits to concern himself with. And Anjafey.

Where was Anja tonight? He would make a point to see her after his duty with Ari was tended to. Nato looked forward to the time he spent with Anjafey. Somehow in this time of trouble, he found happiness in the presence of the two toned vixen and his grandkits.

"Ari." He said bowing his head a bit respectfully as he approached the elder. Ari looked better than he had been in the past month but he still didn't look well. Nato wished he had something to cure the heartache but only time would be able to mend that. The black male did however drop some herbs at Ari's front paws. "I brought you something to keep your strenght up."

There was no way that was her son over there bouncing at the first sign of night. It just couldn't be. How did he have so much energy so early? Mitora cracked one of her eyes open as Fitzy yelped for her. But there was no trouble, just Rey being his normal playful self. Closing her eye, Mitora wondered if she stood still long enough, if 'Tali would give her five more minutes of sleep. It was still too early for her to be awake.

---

'Tori startled awake as Fitzy squeaked in surprise. She sleepily smiled to her smaller brother. "Nice." she said with a yawn. She stood and shook the sleep from her being. How did all the boys always manage to beat them waking up? Must be because daddy used to walk in the day time. Must be. Victoria rubbed against her fathers leg, her way of saying good morning as she debated which of her brothers to pounce first.

She was gonna kill him. Seriously. One of these day's Artemis was going to murder her big brother for being so annoying first thing in the 'morning'. Like her mother, Arty liked to sleep in just a bit. She hoped if she didn't move, the boys and 'Tori would leave and let her resume sleeping. Well, Fitzroy could stay, he wasn't nearly half as annoying as Reye's was. Hearing the others depart, Artemis snuggled herself a little deeper into her mothers side, and tried to hang onto the dream she had been having.
