The highest chair I've ever gotten was third...sadly, but the trumpet section usually has 10 or more people in it.

One trumpet, but saving towards another, or a cornet (mostly brass band playing for me). I haven't named it yet, but I've decked it out with gold trim and fancy valve caps and the like.
And I've been lead trumpet many times blaugh gotta love it.
What mouthpiece sizes do you guys like, out of curiosity? I wanna buy myself a 3C, and I'd like to have a 1C as well. I currently play on a 5C.

I agree... don't get the 1C for a while yet. If you've been playing on a 5C, the best step up is the 3C. I personally don't like anything as large as the 1 1/2C, and I've been playing on my 3C for... probably 5 years now. o.o
I occasionally play lead trumpet in the jazz band I'm in, but I usually play fourth. There are two of us on that part, and I'm the only reason it ever gets heard. I get a few soloistic things on that part, though. In "Such Sweet Thunder," the fourth trumpet is the featured player.
Unfortunately, the person who usually plays lead... can't play high notes very well... and has a weak, airy tone. Which is why one of the other players usually plays the lead part. It's kinda sad, really. -.-

I have 2 Trumpets and a Cornet. I have one 1916 Getzen, copper, silver and brass tone balanced Super Deluxe, and a silver student style 1997 Bach. I have no idea what year the cornet was made in, but it is a silver and brass 2 tone Olds Special, made by Old's and Son out of Eillerton, California. I love that thing. Best toned instrument I do believe that I have ever heard. I have used many different sized mouth peices, but I have always reverted back to the 3C. The 5C was a little better for concert peices for me but when it comes down to making my instrument screem out on the feild, the 3C was optimal. The 1.5C was the mouth peice when it came to double c's and above. I enjoy playing the harmonica, the guitar, the piano, the Alto Sax, and the Clarinet. They are not my stong suit though. I hope to learn to play many more instruments before my life comes to an end. I hope to be hearing from all of you sometime here real soon. Thanks for letting me join your guild.

Me and one of my brothers from the line tend to trade out between first and second trumpet every other song or so. We try to work it out where the weaker players don't end up with a high part in the middle of anything. Plus it keeps us from being to tired at the end of the program that way we can still party that night.

And I don't play in a marching band (well, I march with a brass band, but not regularly) which is a pity because I actually like marching. Also, I mostly play lead trumpet/in the solo cornet line in brass band, altho if the lower parts need to be beefed up I can be shifted a little. Alternatively (in high school) I'd play the lead trombone in the Stage Band as I had the best range

Hiyas, question for ya'll...
I play clarinet now, and I have for several years. However I want to play on my brother's cornet but I'm having a problem getting notes to play since I'm about one of the worse brass player's in the world. Can I have some hints and help maybe?

Well, for one, you need lots of air to make the trumpet speak as it should. Which is loudly. Very loudly. Don't try to play too softly until you can play fortissimo with a good sound.
Also, practice on the mouthpiece frequently. Being egotistical also helps a lot (and believe it or not, that's actually true).
I can't give much advice specific to cornets, but what I just told you should do just fine whether you have a real trumpet or a cornet. ;P

I have a professional trumpet and a student trumpet, the student trumpet is the one I beat up, the professional trumpet has a replaceable Dizzy bell and normal bell. For mouthpieces I have a (8 and 1 and 1/2 C) that is the full name and I need to get another 7 C as my other one is chipped to hell. Although the 8/1&1/2 C is good for Jazz it sucks for everything else...
