"Athena," Ialo tried to explain. "Spells can be tricky. Sometimes magic never decays, and the spells take on a life of their own. The squid... is a little mishap. It's, ah... the school's pet."
Thank his father's God that the squid interrupted the conversation.
"Blame Kai," he added.

"yeah he was part of my training ... I was supposed to Summon a zombie and got a squid instead." he chuckled rubbing the back of his head softly. "anyways if i were you I would just stay calm nothing is going to happen to Danni."
"I hope" he added to Ialo looking behind him

Athena nodded dumbly, just staring at the squid. "What a weird pet," she murmured to herself.
Then Kai reminded her why she was here. "But something might happen to Danni!" she protested. "We don't even know what's happening to her right now! So I should come with you now because then it would be faster, and we can find Danni more quickly." She gave a winning smile.

"well now we have a very outgoing demon don't we?" Kai chuckled looking towards Ialo once more. Then towards Athena "Sorry but the decisions not yours nor mine.
"Let her come she's a demon and I can stop anything bad from happening to any of us."

Athena grinned toothily. "But I can ask, can't I? Andandand! If I come, Uncle Adolf's sure to come! He's been almost stalking me since he got here, but not in a creepy way. 'Cuz he's my godfather, that is."

There was some sort of unintelligible grunt, and Ialo turned around to muse over his position. He seriously did not want to get students involved in his personal messes. But... Athena was willing to help, and Ialo did always believe that there was much more you could learn about applying magic once you were in the field, not in the classroom. And if Kai said he could protect her... well, that was it. Ialo trusted Kai completely, more than he trusted himself.
"... Maybe?"

In Athena-ese, 'maybe' always translated to 'yes' unless it was followed by an 'if' or a 'but'. So, she clapped her hands. "You won't regret it, I promise! I'll be on my best behavior!" That was what you were supposed to say in these situations, right? She wouldn't know; it had never happened (yet)!

"And if you get arrested, you don't belong to me. And if I get arrested, you've never seen me before in your life. Right?" Ialo asked her, and then looked to Kai for backup.

She grinned. "Got it!" But that didn't mean that Adolf would agree. In fact, if something like that happened, Adolf would come to the aid of whoever needed it. He was good at faking relations. With Ialo, it would help that they had the same hair color. With Athena, people tended to accept that he was her godfather. Especially when he was angry (which didn't happen very often).

"I highly doubt that will be necessary, but yeah if your coming with us your with us till you get caught. Just like the warzone." He sighed waving Ialo off.
"Well get this done and over with before anything drastic is needed to be done."

'I said that about Krauser...'
"Well then, congratulations Athena," Ialo said flatly. "You're helping us unplug a giant black box before it goes poof."

Ialo sniffed a little. Personally, he enjoyed math. He was very good at it, of course. "Yes, I suppose evading the law is more - " Just then, a remnant of display popped up, making a shrill alarm noise. The temperature had spiked again. Ialo glared at Seven.
She shrugged, and mouthed 'It was an emergency.'

Athena jumped slightly at the sharp sound, her ears flattening to her skull. She stared at the display. What exactly was that? What did it do? Why was it... doing whatever it was doing? Why was it going to go kaplooey?
She didn't ask any of these questions, just because she had a feeling that the less things she asked, the quicker they'd get moving.

Ialo didn't know what Athena was thinking, but she was right. "Seven, stay here and make keep watch - on the school, and on us." Depending on how badly damaged Zero was, Ialo realized, he could be forced to bring the mainframe back to MFHS for repairs.
"Let's go," he groaned. He was the one who knew exactly where the converter was, so he was the one that teleported Kai, Athena, and himself directly inside the building. He wonder briefly, if anyone had noticed that he had changed course at the last second, to avoid landed on a weakened section of the floor.
