"Huh that's weird I don't cause overheating, If anything I just make stuff not work." He pondered leaning in close to the screen. "Why is it when i hear overheat from you I picture explosions?" He asked the fluffy white wings on his back twitched slightly as he toyed with the question in his mind. "Probably because I have a bad feeling about any energy source overheating," Kai spoke as if to answer himself.

"Right, how are you planning to fix it I know nothing good will come of a converter-ma-bobber blowing up."

Eylios
Ophi had conjured a corrugated cardboard box - standardized shipping, one of his favorite of the human inventions of the past thousand years - And was carefully (and to an extent, lovingly) packing the notebook, the scroll, and many other books into the box. It wasn't a bit box, maybe a bit bigger than a shoebox. Magic was magic though, and you could fit more things inside something than you thought you could.

Ophiuchus paused for a moment, and then grinned. He was having far too much fun with this. He figured Lin probably still disliked him, especially after her outburst in the library, but he didn't hate her. Ophiuchus could never bring himself to hate his students, especially not a bright and engaging one like Lin.

An envelope went in the box with a few notes in it, and a shredded detention slip. He signed the notes with his signature, a circle with a little loop in it. It looked like an extremely lopsided yin-yang. It was actually a stylized Ouroboros, the mystical creature Ophiuchus had taken on as persona of sorts. Serpents and snakes were creatures of healing and guardianship, and the Ouroboros was like a king, the eternal serpent. It held a lot of meaning to Ophiuchus and it was the basis of his magic. Naturally, he had adopted such symbolism into his signature.

"Ma'am," he said to Arielle, smiling. "What's something Lin really likes, something that doesn't have to do with school? A flower, a color?"

Somewhere along the line, this care package had turned into an apology.

Arielle calmly watched and waited while Ophiuchus readied this package for Lin. He was truly a thoughtful man, she thought, to do this for a student. She admired and respected that, and liked to think that, if put in the same position, she would be doing a very similar thing. At his question, she paused for a moment.

"Lin likes... lilies,* I believe. She is such a dedicated student, and so eager to learn, that I do not often see the side of her that is not a student, but just a person. Or, I should correct myself, I do not see it quite as often as I would like. She's just such a nice girl..." Arielle trailed off, not wishing to ramble on like a crazy old lady (though she was neither crazy nor old) to Ophiuchus.

As she did so, she felt a sudden large spike in dark energy, and it caused her to sit up even straighter than before, her eyes widening at first in shock, then in slight fear, then calming slightly in recognition and resignation. She ignored the little pricks at her head, pain from the residual dark magic that was affecting her elven half. Nymphs, though essentially light creatures, are immune to the effects of dark magic's signature. Sadly, she did not inherit full immunity, though it is not difficult for her to simply choose to ignore the pains.

((*Laura, if that's not true (I admit that I didn't look very hard), please feel free to correct it.))

Ialo snorted, holding back a few chuckles. "Because you know that most most situations involving sparks, gases, and chemicals in a confined space leads to disaster... which is exactly what's going to happen."

The other side of the translucent display changed, and several images of the building before and after the fight came up. Ialo's breath caught a little, he hadn't seen the destroyed building yet. There was yellow and orange tape all around the perimeter, and the upper floors looked like a Jenga tower just before it toppled over. Some people in the investigation teams and emergency crews were probably spellcasters, and had rigged the building so it wouldn't collapse. Kudos to them.

"Fixing the converter isn't the problem," he said. "It's sneaking in there, and back out, without getting seen or killed, preferably within three hours."

Elsewhere, Athena was beginning to get fed up. Ialo hadn't contacted her or anything to say when they were leaving to go save Danni, and it was starting to get old. What the hell was taking him so long? Why couldn't they just leave now? Ugh. That's it.

In five minutes, Athena-time, if he had not--

Oh, look. Five minutes is up. Leaving the class she was currently in (under the excuse of Please, can I use the bathroom? It's an emergency! and taking her bag for added effect), she walked quickly out and a short ways down the hall. Then she paused, glanced around, and began to sprint to Ialo wherever Ialo was. She planned on going to his office unless her sense of smell guided her elsewhere.

"So all you need to do is get in without getting killed? well that shouldn't be to hard. I'm going to guess we can't kill anyone either ... That would be bad and would lead to unnecessary attention." He nodded and looked at the screen, Shouldn't be to hard I'm actually very fast when I need to be." he gave slight smirk as he looked at the gibberish on the other screens.

"Well... in and out," Ialo added. "I'm not really worried about PEOPLE coming after us as I am gravity... and other natural forces - like, say, combustion." He watched the screens for a moment, and was extremely nervous as the temperature graph on the convertor spiked considerably, before falling down again. "I think just unplugging it will work."

((Lilies are awesome, Secret! biggrin }}

There was no consciousness left in Lin right now. Her body couldn't support it at the moment. Besides, Lin needed a break from reality for a little bit.

But her body was still sensitive to her surroundings, and it felt that spike in dark energy around the school. It felt it and despised it. Her body was already so weak, and such a surge in dark energy was lethal to her. Luckily, there were two very strong vessels of white energy in the room with her, and that kept her body from giving out. Their mere presence protected her, but the body still reacted to the dark energy.

Lin's body arched in pain slightly and a soft gasp escaped her lips. And she no longer had spring water near her that could create a force field around her to protect her from the dark energy. Thank God for Arielle and Akakios's presence.

Athena paused outside of Ialo's office. He wasn't there; his scent wasn't strong enough. She sniffed heavily, following it... to the roof? Hiding none too carefully (or too intentionally), she listened as Ialo talked to Kai. There was something else going down? Something that involved explosions?

She shouldn't be there and she shouldn't know, but she wanted to help! Anything for a giant explosion! (Except giving up pasta.) Her tail wagged slightly in excitement, and she walked over to the two people. "Explosions?"

Arielle looked down at Lin, confused and worried. With her spring water as well as both Arielle and Ophiuchus, the dark magic should not have affected her enough for her to be in pain even while asleep. Leaning down and ignoring her own discomfort, she softly brushed a few strands of hair from Lin's face, trying to project her presence just a bit more for the girl.

She noticed the pendant's broken state, the small pieces left upon a their necklace, but no longer able to contain anything, and she began to become even more confused. She had a puzzle to fix, but she did not have the picture or all the pieces, and the pieces she did have were not fitting together. Just what had happened to Lin? What went on in this school?

"Lilies are nice," Ophiuchus said absently. He glanced up at the sudden change in colors and the spike in dark magic, but he was hardly affected, not to the degree Lin and her Headmistress were. His expression was very thoughtful and serious as he continued to pile book and lessons into the box, and conjured up beautifully dried lilies. Real ones wouldn't travel well.

And that magic... Riser was regaining his strength. Admittedly, that was a good thing. Riser had proved to be a valuable ally, and had gone so far as to save everyone's lives (though Ophiuchus wasn't entirely sure why, or how). On the other hand, Ophi would have to tread carefully again. Existing was a very nice luxury. But if Riser chose to continue to stick around, Lin would not be able to return.

Kai blinked looking up from the screen at Athena. "Well that would be a bit boring, but hell I'll help you out Ialo." Kai chuckled walking past the screens towards Athena. "Hey your a student aren't you?" The echo in his voice raising as his did. "Yeah we said explosions ... what are you doing up here anyways?"

"Hey..." Ialo objected quietly. He didn't say anything else, because Athena was there. He had already allowed her to get involved with confronting the Ancients (not a brilliant idea, but Ialo needed to see for himself what they were doing with Danni's soul, and he had to bring back Ambrose. At least HE was still alive. Hopefully), he was certainly not going to let her follow him into a building filled with KNOWN dangers.

She nodded at Kai. "I was looking for the Headmaster. Then I heard something about explosions." It was a simple explanation, but Athena wasn't one to beautify something with fluffy words unless it was required. Like for English essays.

Arielle noticed how Ophiuchus simply ignored the dark magic--it seemed that it did not bother him, though she could tell the he knew it had happened. Someone with such an aura as Ophiuchus would have to be stupid to not have noticed it.

Concerned for Lin, she asked, "What was that?" Obviously, she knew what it was, but she was more curious about its reason and whether it was a common occurence. If it was, she did not know that Lin should return to Mystic Fountain at all. Dark magic was dangerous for her health.

"... Syrian alchemy, I think," Ophiuchus finally responded, after tilting his head. He did NOT think it was a good idea for Arielle to find out about the school's resident god of chaos. "Very powerful dark magic."

Alas, this would be very, very difficult to dance around. Suddenly, he had a moment of inspiration. "Ohhh, I bet that was the history teacher! He knows a lot about ancient dark magics."

'Riser, congratulations. If anyone asks, you're the history teacher.'
