Since Athena had decided to rummage through the bathroom, Adolf opened the door. He still wore the same suit from earlier. "Hello."

"Does she realize I said nothing about leaving tonight?" Ialo asked point blank. Now that the adrenaline was long gone, it was clear to any observers that the Headmaster wasn't fit to be going on any adventures of any sort just now.

Not a pause. "No." But this did not surprise Adolf.

"You tell her that," the Headmaster said. "There's a computer in my room that's quite ready to shoot me if I don't rest, and I haven't gotten a chance to reprogram that."

Adolf nodded. "I will. Now, go sleep." He made a shooing motion with one hand. He vaguely hoped he wasn't being too forward in this not-quite-demand, but felt it likely did not matter.

Ialo's mouth twitched in a grin, and he teleported away to his own bedroom. Seven was nowhere to be seen, so he assumed that she was either out looking for him, or chasing down renegade students.
He did not see the bright flashes of light coming from the lake, where a mechanical magic-wielding woman was wrangled a giant flying squid.

Eylios Cuwen Lin turned her head and looked at the small fairy form of Maggie as she spoke energetically. Instead of getting aggravated at her enthusiasm and energy, Lin smiled and laughed softly. "I agree, Maggie. I really do." "Aha!" Maggie exclaimed gleefully. "You admit it! Then I know just the thing for you! You're always helping people with that fancy elf magic of yours, so why don't I return the favor? Nature spirit to nature spirit, eh? I know a little fairy spell that should keep you ticking for a few more hours... but after that chica, you really should go to sleep... you look awful!"{{Wait... if we're skipping forward, how did Maggie ask Lin those questions before and just now respond to her a few hours later? LOL!}} Lin shook her head. "No, that is alright, Maggie. I really do appreciate the gesture and the compliment, but I don't think even a spell could keep me alert right now." She reached under her blouse and pulled out her shattered pendant. "My pendant is broken and I don't have my home's magical spring water close to me any longer. So, my normal ability to be able to stay away for many hours or days is weakening, as am I."

((Because we're behind in time. This scene is still in the morning.))
"It can't be THAT bad," Maggie pointed out. "It just means you have to be normal like the rest of us for a bit, until you go home and get a new one, right?"
"I know you just refused, but lemme help anyways!" The fairy stood up on Lin's shoulder, leaned over, and gave the elf a small kiss (laden with magic, of course) on the cheek.
"You should feel better for a little bit, at least long enough to pick up all those books and take them to your room for the rest of the day!"

Adolf knocked on Athena's bathroom door. "Athena, we're not leaving tonight. Th--"
"What? Why?" She opened the door, immediately getting in his face.
He lifted an eyebrow. "You heard what. I was about to say why when you interrupted me." He always tried to make her behave just a little bit better...but he rarely succeeded.
She pouted. "So-rry." It was about as insincere as you can get.
Adolf sighed at her, but knew that that was going to be the best he'd get for now. "Your headmaster looks to need the rest, Athena. I suggest you let him get it, and get some yourself if you want to be as useful as you say you will be."
She glared at him, but conceded, as he knew she would, and he was forced out of the room to sleep outside. Not that he minded; he rather liked sleeping on the grass. It felt nice.

{{I see! Didn't know we were behind. smile }}
Lin blinked and then her pupils dilated and her eyes widened as energy coursed through her body. She smiled at Maggie thankfully.
"Thank you, Maggie! You didn't really have to do that, but thank you just the same! And it is not as if I would not want to be 'normal' like the rest of you. It is just that after knowing what it feels like to be at top health and energy all of the time, to constantly feel life coursing through your body, it is very hard to accept feeling anything less than that."
Lin tilted her head to the side and laughed softly. "But now, thanks to you Maggie, I feel much better and can get back to studying!"
She turned her head back to the book in front of her and started to read again.

((Yep. But I think after this post, it'll be over.))
Maggie grimaced slightly after Lin turned back to her book. She honestly expected her elf friend to go back to her dorm. And, she just went back to reading.... Well, the day was young yet. Maggie would just skip her classes, and see if there was anyone willing to hang out with her.
Unlike Lin, no one would bat an eye at Maggie missing class, AGAIN.
"Well it's all good then, isn't it?" the fairy chirped. "See ya later!" She flitted off, leaving Lin's shoulder smelling distinctly of magnolia blooms.

The smell of the flowers left behind in Maggie's wake also helped to liven Lin up for a little bit. She waved to Maggie as she left, though she never brought her face up from the book.
At around 10 that night, Lin was still in the library. She had a new stack of books and a stack of notes. And she was still going just as strong as she had that afternoon after Maggie had cast the energetic spell on her.

((Moving on to the next day))
The following morning, the weather was just as bright and clear as it was the day before. Spring seemed to be in full working order today, many of the flowers in the garden Maggie so dutifully attended (instead of class) were bloomed, most of the trees had bright green leaves unfolding, big puffy white clouds were floating on by, and as the sunlight adamantly rose over the tops of the trees and into the windows of the east side of the building, Ialo hobbled around his quarters with an ice pack on the sprawling purple bruise on his ankle. Good news: the Headmaster naturally healed rather quickly. Bad news: Not as quickly as when he was tired and stressed, and just because he healed fast, didn't mean it hurt less. And now, thinking back, he couldn't figure out why he agreed to fight Alec, or why he suddenly changed his mind and let Athena come with him to find Danni.
Because. The Dragon's lone voice came in clear and confident. You realized somewhere that if the Ancients were horrible people, Danni would not associate herself with them, and you realized that Athena's young, but she packs a punch, and the big yokai will be coming along, to boot. You probably won't end up fighting the Ancients by any means, but you're hoping that it will be enough to prove that you're serious, at the very least, prove to Ambrose that Danni will be alright. You never doubted that.
The Dragon's voice came in so passively, that Ialo automatically assumed it was his own voice.
Now take a leaf out of Leaton's book, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and remember what you learned when you went to MFHS. People aren't bad, they just want things.
Ialo sighed, and spread some papers across his desk. That would make him feel busy while he tried to find a second ice pack for his other leg.
The Dragon turned to the Human, Ialo now unable to hear them. You've been able to talk to him like that all this time, and you never used it? The Human shrugged. I don't have your way with words. Very nice speech by the way.
Thank you, I thought that last line up back in middle school, haven't gotten a chance to use it until now.
The Darkness snorted, but not with contempt. Ever since the Silverwings put the crystal in, none of them had been able to make any advances - last night's attempt failed horribly. No, the Darkness snorted because it was laughing at the other two. They evidently had been working together for a long time, and it was amusing to watch the Dragon and the Human banter back and forth.
Does that mean I'm not bad then, that I just want something?
You, we still don't know about.

Athena groaned slightly as she woke up; she had no idea what Ialo was planning. When were they going to leave? Would they leave today? Right now? Or tomorrow? Tonight, she thought, would really be the best time to go, because her powers would be at optimum level--and so would Adolf's. Sure, they'd still be doing well tomorrow night, but it wouldn't be much in comparison to tonight. Just thinking about it made her giddy and restless.
But she would pretend that nothing unusual was going on, even if people would wonder why she seemed more eager than ever for the school day to end. She'd just say it was the full moon, and that she had something planned for the night. They wouldn't question her after that (hopefully).
So, she dressed herself and gathered the homework she'd done half-heartedly before going off to find Ialo. She was pretty sure that most of her answers on the math stuff was right, but she wasn't so sure about the history or English ones. Oh well, didn't matter. She had more important things to worry about than a silly homework assignment!

Headmistress of Bai Ching, Arielle Krause, was worried. Lin Yin, one of her most promising and dedicated students, had not contacted her that Sunday as was customary for the elf to do. It had been a meeting that she looked forward to each week, and it disturbed her that Lin had broken it. This could not mean anything good. If she knew Lin--and she liked to believe she did--then she knew this as a fact, then she knew that even if Lin was on her death bed, the girl would make an effort to contact Arielle.
All of this led to one worried Headmistress coming all the way to Mystic Fountain High School to check up on a single student--though it was notable that she considered all of her students to be like her daughters. Walking right up to the building, she did not know where Lin would be, especially in this unpredictable state that she seemed to be in, so she decided that, perhaps, finding the Headmaster--Ialo Enlil--would be more beneficial.
She strode confidently into the building, and to the office where she knew that a responsible Headmaster would still be this early in the morning. Without pause, she lifted her hand and knocked upon his office door in a firm, but decidedly polite fashion.
