Nicolai approached, giving a comforting pat to the wendigo's head. Aside from its eerie wail, Wiko was a mild baby, not likely to wriggle and whine needlessly like the babies of his past experiences. This is good, he thought. No fuss whilst I investigate strange happenings.

He gave Rouge a nod. "Sure I guess? What do you need?"

Neveah had a sinking feeling...she'd seen the power go out in the headquarters, and even though Kyo, who had been talking to her, at beside her...she couldn't really see him. She just knew he was there...and Oak, it was clear he was there, too.

Part of the butterfly felt wrong, and her mind jumped towards her son. Neveah hadn't noticed the way the grass was changing colour...bu she could feel something drawing at her, and it was making her uneasy.

"Kyo...pick up Oak." She said, not looking at the elf...All she could do was stare into the headquarters.

----

Zasalamel had been relieved when Kay took her leave of him, and once the lights went out, he was more than relieved...he had infrared eyesight by nature, he could see in this! Even so...things were starting to look...strange. When in pitch black, everything gaze off an energy signal that was usually blues or red, the occassional yellows or greens...but this was different. There were shades of grey creeping into his sight, and they were spreading fast.

Out of curiousity, or perhaps he was mesmerized by this sudden occurance, Zasalamel stepped into the boundary of the grey area after first touching it with his foot, to make sure there was nothing there that might not want to be stepped on.

The reds and blues of his eyesight was quickly fading into monotone colours...as if they were being sucked out.

What was this...?

"Okay there are shadows here, here and here." the woman informed Nicolai, pointing to each as she spoke. "When I move the stone they move-as they should. I want you to hold onto this and try to find what's creating those shadows. I'm going to see what I can find with my eyes closed." she told him, handing the small crystal over to the young man and patting the child on the head reassuringly.

Walking to the end of the grey area farthest in-away from where it was spreading towards the rest of the lobby-Rouge closed her eyes and extended her arm towards where the wall should be. With her eyes closed and her ears open she tried to see if she could follow those strange noises that she had heard when she had first entered this area.

EDIT: What she heard first was Zah entering the area. Her senses were more keen in this state and she could feel his energy somewhat. "Zasalamel. Come help me here would you?"

With little hesitance or protest, Kyo was pulled along, almost producing no weight resistance with her floating. Then something was pulling at her very core, not hard but insistent enough. "It wants us..." Why did she have to say such disconcerting things? And so tonelessly. In her arms, Xerksis suddenly groaned, not liking this feeling one bit, mostly because he didn't know what was going on. His fingers twisted cruelly into his mother's shirt, digging into her skin and probably bruising it unintentionally. The message sent to her mind was a clear one. Stop it. But she couldn't.

"We... should go in." Kyo reluctantly admitted. "Those in there... don't seem hurt." But then it would have them. Anyway, with the rate it was spreading, they didn't have much longer to huddle in the darkness.

Lilianna merely shrugged at Shira's comment about not expecting anything like this to happen in an antique shop. "My senses were telling me that something bad was going to happen, but I just ignored them. Looks like I got myself into a sticky situation with no friends to help me get out of. At least I can safely say that they couldn't do anything if they were here." She looked around and watched the grey area grow more. "I wonder what is causing this greay area to confine us in this area. Maybe Fate does have a sense of humor."

Zasalamel heard the noises, and without thinking, the Drow reached up and touched one of his pointed ears...these noises, they weren't there before, were they? His eyes, which had been on the floor, snapped upwards when he caught sight of what may or may not have been shadows dancing across the walls. Before he even took note of Rouge being there, he looked around for something, nything, that could have created these dancing shadows...but nothing. There was nothing that he could see...just a whole lot of grey.

This...was not good, his mind told him, over and over. To him, this reeked of magic...and to this day, he never really trusted in magic. If he could see it and touch it, that was a different story but this...the nosies, the shadows, it wasn't---

Rouge called out to him then, his ears perking up at the sound of his name. Rouge was real, Rouge he could trust in, at least. "Uh, Siyo..." He said in his native tongue, nervously. Partly due to obediance and partly due to a hint of fear, Zasalamel cautiously made his way towards the pirate woman, stopping just behind her.

A new spot of no-color was developing and spreading, across the room from where the the was. This one seemed to be appearing right in the middle of the floor; it was perhaps the size of a hula hoop now, positioned right in a corner of the desk there.

The shadows on the wall, perhaps objecting to the thought that they ought to be detected, began to wiggle slightly on the wall. One in particular; a rather large shadow, bleeding into a larger size on the wall, began to take a certain and familiarly-shaped form. Very carefully, it began to work its way higher on the wall, getting a better vantage point on those collected in the grey area; with a swing of one "arm", it gestured to the other two shadows of smaller size, which both lifted upwards as well. Those in the area were now greeted with the distinct and unmistakable feeling that they were being watched, and that there were stronger forces coming into play....

From this point on, anyone who enters the larger of the two grey areas and tries to leave will be rewarded with a rather unpleasant jolt of energy.

Wiko wriggled at Rouge's touch and Nicolai took the stone carefully, giving a nod. "Uh... sure. Hm."

He stared into the shadows, all too familiar with the reach they could encompass. Unfortunately, nothing telltale was at work here. They were moving. There was color loss. There was... little else. He shifted Wiko up to one shoulder for better use of his free hand. He brought the stone up and about, teasing the shadows with it.

Despite his best efforts to enact a predictable movement from it, they avoided detection. He furrowed his brow at all the strangeness.

"Ah... what am I looking for?"

edit-

As he spoke the shadows made a movement, causing the jumpy Akoriat to flinch a little at it. Now there was something to look at. A being?

A being at work here? Beings??

"Uh. Wait. That count?"

Ari nodded, feeling Art shake in her arms on the verge or crying for the fear that seemed to overwhelm her. Ari turned and pulled the nob. She knew something was off but she couldn't feel her energy being tapped, the adrenaline hid it too well, and she wasn't tapped into her energy enough to be able to notice otherwise.

Artimis did however, and she hated it. She screamed loudly and clearly in protest to whatever it was that was making her feel as if a second half of her existed, as if another her was being pulled from her body, and she hated it.

The darkness urged Ari into the room, ushering Kyo to follow quickly so she could shut the door. She didn't even know what lay inside.

"Zah. I know you can hear the noises. I want you to help me find where they're coming from. Do you think you can handle it?" her eyes had opened to look him in the eye when she spoke. But her right eye had turned to watch the shadows. So.....something was watching them and it didn't like being told who was boss.

Well Rouge had faced this kind of thing before. And it wasn't getting the better of her that was for sure or her name wasn't Definity Rouge Remika.

She also noted that there was something wrong with Nic. "Look for where it's coming from." she told Nicolai.

Shira scoffed at the word fate- almost easily the most hated word in her vocabulary. But she didn't feel like delving into that arguement with herself at the moment.

As soon as Shira made a motion to respond she halted, an eerie and nervewracking sensation crawling all over her body. What the hell is this...feeling. She started to sweat. The all too known feeling- knowing that you're being watched, observed, ready to be pounced upon, was crawling up her spine and she didn't like it. Her newly acknowledged sixth sense forced her to turn and finally notic the wiggling shadows upon the wall. They moved as if motioning to each other, conversing. Shira stood straight and spoke to Lilianna, motioning towards the walls and general area of the room. "You notice them, don't you?" She looked at Lilianna, then at the small group among Rouge, wondering if it was her place to question.

((Leaving for a short while, thirty minutes tops. Pretend i'm pondering more on the situation in a corner or something...>_>;; ))

"Jugare." Zasalamel said, too confused and nervous of the situation to even realize he wasn't speaking english. Turning his attention to the walls, he perked his ears, trying to find out where the voices were coming from, as Rouge had asked him to do. He merely stood there, not trusting to put his arms on anthing other than his own sides.

Of course, that feeling of being watched didn't much help his unease. Taking a deep calming breath, the Drow forced himself to relax...if Rouge could do it, he could, damnit!

He couldn't place there the nosies were coming from, but the Shadows had his attention...and he watched as a few of them grouped together, moving and shifting in a way normals shadows should not. Idly, he moved closer to the man with the crystal, standing near him as they both watched the shadows move. After a moment or two, the Drow stepped back towards the pirate. Tapping Rouge on the shoulder, he pointed towards the being-like shadows.

"Mina?" He asked. Perhaps they were making the noise? They WERE everywhere, and nowhere at the same time.

Lilianna's body tensed up as she felt something shifting in the grey area. She turned her head around to see another, darker area forming in the center of the grey area. Shivering out of instinct, she barely heard Shira's question. Instinctively, she nodded her head and slowly started to back up. Her back met the edge of the grey area and she recieved a jolt of pain down her spine. Jumping away from the edge of the area, she noticed it looked the same, but she sensed that something was different. Shoving her free hand into her pocket, she began to look around nervously, as if sensing that someone, or something, was watching her.

As they entered, the gray area became more clear and Kyo could get a good look at it rather than what she'd simply seen through the wall of the other room. The people were there- colorless. Their auras, she noticed, had also had their color nullified, which confirmed the fact that this was the work of magic. She was bitter towards those particular forces.

She had wanted to go into the graying area, seeing as none of the people in there possessed flickering auras. Surely their energy wasn't being pulled at like the rest of them. That was where she had wanted to go. Seeing the gathering shadows... Was it really worth it to step inside and face the beast? Or should they stay outside and risk draining the already-once-dead children of their second life. Kyo wasn't so sure, but the squalling child beside her and the pain in her chest was making her lean in favor of what seemed the less sensible choice. She cared for the children, after all, moreso than she did the adults. If they were hurting...

"Look there. Should we enter the gray?" She asked Ari, being more specific and trying to force her voice over Artemis'. Perhaps the shades weren't bad news? After all, Talis-- no, scratch that. It was probably a bad situation no matter where they stood. It was watching them- all of them.

Nicolai turned slowly, eyes scanning for anything the light could be catching to form such a strange shadow formation. In vain, of course. There was nothing. Nothing at all. And he knew there wouldn't be. Far be it from Nicolai to ignore the possibility of shadow beings actually residing in their shadows.

He moved the stone, watching the shadows intently. They moved on their own, for sure. He tensed a little, gripping Wiko firmly. I really don't like this. Not at all.

"It's independent," he replied, shaking his head nervously. "They're just there."
