Character: Marolyn Current Square: 3 to 2 (escape attempt #1) Response:
"Oh, the nine have mercy." Marolyn, while she was scouring the place for a sign of literally anyone else, completely missed the thorny bush that caught her. She could have sworn that it hadn't been there when she'd looked, but lo and behold here she was forced to sit and try to disentangle herself from the plant. The path, as liberally as she used the word, had been clear enough up til this point. It was almost like the bush had reached out to grab her.
Yanking her clothes away would just rip them so that they'd unravel instead of being fashionable. Cursing since she had to sit quietly and focus on this, she took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Freaking herself out was just going to get her further tangled into the bush.
Calmer, Marolyn started gently peeling the fur of her jacket from the thorns. Her large hands made dexterous work take more time, but she could still get it done. A few minutes later she pulled away and circled around the bush. Now that that ordeal was over with she could start looking for some of the rest of the crew that she'd come here with.
She'd yet to see any actual people, but she was sure that somewhere, someone was in here. She just had to catch up. The forest really wasn't that big.
Then again, if they'd already checked out the entirety of the forest, it was possible that they'd moved on to some other area like that giant field of wildflowers or the rolling plains that she'd ignored. Marolyn was gonna be pissed if it turned out that everyone else had moved on without even leaving a note saying that this area had been gone through.

Prompt for Square 2 The forest is quieter than it was since you entered. You see less animals running about, and those that you do, only appear for brief glimpses. The air smells of damp earth and moss.

Character: Marolyn Current Square: 2 to 7 Response:
As unnerving as the incessant crickets and other wildlife had been, the lack of it is more so. Where before there had been brief glimpses of birds, squirrels, and other small wildlife as they scattered the place was still. A chill ran down her spine. Were forests always this creepy? Marolyn should have just stayed in the city. At least there there she knew what was going on and could make her way around on her own.
At this rate she was starting to really wonder if anyone else had even entered the forest. There was a brief glance of some nightmare activity when she'd first come in, but now there wasn't even that.
If she wandered too far into the foliage, would there even be anyone who would come looking for her? As far as she knew, nobody knew her name in the carriage. Her sister might miss her, if she didn't show up for a couple months. But it wasn't that odd for them not to see one another for months at a time. She'd told her about coming to above to search for things, so would she worry? Probably not. It might be a year or more before she got seriously worried about not seeing Marolyn.
Her girlfriend might miss her a bit sooner. Marolyn let her thoughts turn to her girlfriend and a small smile crept onto her face. It was enough to distract her from the wet scent of damp ground and the light scent of greenery. There obviously wasn't going to be anything to take from this place so this was going to be a wasted trip. Marolyn was half tempted to just turn around and make her way back to the carriage. Possibly try to head into one of the other areas that the other groups had gone to explore.
It'd certainly be a sight less unnerving than this place.

Character: Marolyn Current Square: 7 to 11 (escape attempt 1) Response:
Looking up from the bottom of the relatively shallow ravine Marolyn was more than half convinced that the cluster of vines perfectly draped down from the top was actually a net of ropes. Either way, it should help her get to the top so she could continue her search.
The briefest of tugs and boulders were tumbling down. Biting her lip to keep from making any noise, Marolyn dodged out of the way, suffering hit only from a few small rocks instead of the large boulders. Clearly this was some sort of trap! Once the dust cleared and nothing else was falling into the ravine, Marolyn brushed herself off. Looking around for the "vines" she'd found, she couldn't find any. They must have gotten buried in the rockfall. At least the rocks had fallen in such a way that she could use them to climb out of the ravine.
Carefully picking her way through the rocks, she wedged a foot into position and then heaved her way up. From the top of the ravine it was clear that someone had piled the rocks here. All it had taken was her dislodging the rope to send them flying. Snarling a bit, Marolyn turned on her heel and marched on.
Someone was in this forest and they were messing with her. She was NOT going to have any of that. With anger fueling her, Marolyn completely ignored the hushed atmosphere of the forest, the lack of wildlife. None of it bothered her. SOMEONE was gonna pay for all the stupid stuff going on.

Without a drop of hesitation, Marolyn strode right into the fog cloud. Missing or just disregarding the complete conviction that someone was watching her, she pressed on. Smoke started to filter into the area and the sound of a twig snapping was booming. This wasn't right. These woods definitely weren't empty.

Character: Marolyn Current Square: 11 to 16(escape attempt 2) Response:
Smoke choking her lungs, Marolyn stumbled further on. Surely there was an end to the area that the smoke was covering? That or wasn't the edge of the woods nearby? Tears streaked down her face, her eyes were burning. She should turn back. Someone didn't want them exploring these woods. But. . .
Which way was back?

Character: Marolyn Current Square: 11 to 16(escape attempt 3) Response:
Disoriented, her lungs on fire, barely able to see anything, Marolyn had to stop to cough. More twigs snapped, the sound getting closer. Faintly she could hear a hissing sound as the smoke got thicker and thicker. She must be getting closer to the source but at this point the world was starting to spin.
Collapsing to her knees, Marolyn grasped at her throat. This. . this was it. She was going to disappear here, just like all the rest and nobody would miss her. Fleetingly, thoughts of her sister and girlfriend comforted her, and she wondered how long it would take for them to miss her.
Whoever had set all this up clearly wanted nothing to do with anything from outside their little area. As Marolyn collapsed to her knees, barely breathing, she cursed that stupid doctor that'd set up this "search party." She didn't think she was going to live through this, but if she did, she was going to tear a couple new ones into that doctor.
Just before the darkness took her, Marolyn thought she saw something approach her, and then it, along with her consciousness, was gone.

Character: Blitzen Current Square: 5 to n/a Response: Blitzen had been so restless on the ride over, but when she had finally emerged from the carriage to go explore, she found herself dallying while other students went to go explore on ahead. Initially, when she'd left the carriages, she'd been stuck between choosing where to go. The wildflowers were where many cute ladies were heading towards, whereas the plains were so open: it would be easy to run up a hill and see what lay beyond. However, for whatever reason, the forest was calling to her and so she went to the forest to explore. It seemed like plenty of other had a similar inclination.
However, when she got to the forest, a wave of unusual unease came over her. The forest, for all of its trees and foliage made her... nervous. She watched everyone else walk off and leave her behind, but she couldn't make herself move forward. She didn't want to leave just after getting here, but she felt like her hooves were glued to the forest floor. Eventually, when a significantly embarrassing amount of time had passed, Blitzen turned around. She could probably make up something about how she hadn't been able to find much. No one could prove that she didn't do any exploring, right? She didn't have to tell anyone and she didn't want to. Her ears laying back as she made the trek back to the carriages, she let out a sigh. She would find some other way to be awesome. Forest exploring wasn't it, so maybe she'd just have to chat up one of the wildflower ladies instead.
