 You find yourself in a sturdy wooden cage, one of many hoisted high above the forest floor. Your head is throbbing, your thoughts are blurred and your muscles weak. All in all, it feels a bit like a bad hangover. Aside from your clothes, you have been stripped of most of your personal belongings. Any jewellery, weapons, trinkets, or other supplies you might have brought with are—for the time being—missing.
Though it is uncertain how much time has passed since you blacked out, you awake during daylight hours. Mottled sunlight peers through the branches overhead. The sun is angled at about forty five degrees from the sky directly above you and where the horizon would be. Whether it is morning or afternoon though, that could be anyone's guess.
Beneath you, the canopy is too thick to make out forest floor. Sometimes you might discern a glimpse of something moving through the pine needles, but it is too far, too dark, and too brief to be sure.
Somewhat nearer, you have company. Aside from your fellow prisoners, the treetops are home to a curious insect that you've never seen before. They mill about up and down the tree trunks carrying food and nesting material back to their hives. For the most part, they appear to be quite uninterested in you.
If you've been directed here, your character has been captured, caged, and drugged! Please limit your meta RP to this thread until informed otherwise.
You may only participate in this game if you have been captured and directed to this thread.
3 times per day, you may attempt to lure one of the creatures closer. To do so, roll 1d4.
On a roll of 1 subtract one from you score. (You cannot drop below 0.)
On a roll of 2, 3, or 4, add one to your score.

When your total reaches five, you may claim a familiar.
Each attempt must be accompanied by 100 words of RP.
You may try for multiple familiars (one of each).

Amity groaned when she started to finally wake up, reaching up gingerly and rubbing at the top of her head. Everything felt like she was moving through molasses, sluggish and weak. She pushed herself up carefully, peering around the case she found herself in, and the reality of her situation settled in.
“s**t!” She swore, getting up onto her knees in the cage as much as she could and peering further out to the other cages. “Hello?! Anyone there?!”
No one seemed to respond, though Amity wasn’t sure if that was reassuring or more terrifying. She looked up towards the canopy roof, eying how far up she was and the sun moving gingerly across the sky. Too bad she had no idea how to tell time from just the sun’s position…
Her eyes trailed down, and stopped on a curious collection of bugs, utterly unbothered by her existence. She frowned a little, leaning forward, and tried to swing her cage a little closer to the tree trunk nearest her. She reached out with one hand, trying to grab for one of the little creatures. “C’mere little guy…” She muttered, stretching her fingers out further.

Amity managed to just barely scratch her fingers into the bark before the cage swung away from the tree, spinning from the momentum of Amity trying to move in the first place. She yelped, holding onto the edge of the cage and trying to slow it down. Finally, the cage settled, swinging back lightly to and fro.
Amity huffed a little, looking upward, and looked back at the trunk. “Well, that was pointless.” She muttered to herself. Amity hunkered down onto the floor of the cage, pulling her legs up underneath her, and dropped her head against the bars, peering down.
“Maybe if I swing enough, the rope’ll break.” She frowned, squinting a little as she peered down. “But with my luck, the cage won’t break and I’ll just hurt myself.” She snorted a little, looking at the trunk and watching the curious lines of bugs as they skittered up the tree trunk.
“Bet that’d be a big lunch for the Bird, wherever he wound up flying off to…” She grinned a little, sitting up a bit more to watch the bugs. She hoped the bird got away, at least.

RP Response:Raliegh opened his eyes, his head was pounding, there was a ringing in his ears. Probably from the left over gas. He gasped down large gulps of air desperately trying to rid his lungs of all the stinging pain that they were in. "what.. happened? " he tried to remember. He was in the forest and he escaped some trip wires. Oh, the gas it came out of nowhere, it rose up so quickly he didn't have a chance to save himself. Or Jimbo. "JIMBO" he yelled sitting straight up. Only to see the gryftoo perched on his knee looking at him with the same blank buggy eyes he always had.
It took him a second to notice his surroundings. He was in a cage? "Very funny, put the giant birdman in a cage. REALLY ORIGNAL" He yelled down to the forest floor below. He knew someone was down there, after all, he knew someone set those traps, he knew that someone took him and put him in this cage. It took him admittedly longer than it should have to notice the other person in the cage next to him.'When did they get there?' "Oh.. hey there." He squinted his eyes at the bahph, he was pretty sure he had seen her before. "Were you uh? Part of the forest exploration too?"

Amity hadn't realized she'd fallen asleep until she was suddenly roused by yelling to her left. She jerked awake, sitting upright and turning towards the cage where the noise had come from. Another person! She wasn't alone!
...that was probably not cause for celebration.
Amity squinted a little towards the winged guest, and nodded a little, exhaling. "Yeah, I was." She said, peering down again towards the canopy separating their view from the bottom of the trees. "No luck you were awake when they brought you up here, right?" She smiled crookedly. "I was knocked out and woke up in the cage, too."
"I'm Amity." She added after a second, realizing that introducing oneself was probably polite. Besides, small talk would pass the time until whatever had put them in the cages decided to take them out again...

RP Response:Raliegh craned his neck to get a better look of the other in the cage next to him. He was pretty sure she was one of the ones that stuck to the big group while he decided to walk off on his own like an idiot. It made him feel better to know that it didn't matter if he had stayed with the group he would have ended up here anyway. He shook his head slowly. "No, there was this Gas that came out of nowhere, felt like I was being suffocated. I thought I was dying... but then I woke up here.. so Yay? I mean at least I'm not dead, and Jimbo is safe too" The gryftoo poked his head out from behind Raliegh and let out a mwerrr sound.
"I'm Raliegh, normally when I introduce myself I have this whole thing with the bowing and fluttering of wings and giving my proper title but today... after all this? I'm just Raliegh." He let out a weak smile, trying to look brave.

Amity nodded a little as Raliegh explained his own plight in getting captured, sinking back against one wall of her cage so she could see him with a little more comfort. "Aw, he's cute." She grinned at the gryftoo that popped up, though it brought her back to her own bird. She was sure it'd flown off to escape, but she hoped it was okay anyway...
"Yeah." She laughed a little at the smile, nodding. "You can do the whole thing when we get out of these cages, right?" She smiled brightly. They'd have to get out eventually, the others would no doubt be looking for them sooner or later... Although the first expedition didn't seem to have gone looking for Hilde and Nathaniel, so maybe she was wrong.
"I got trapped under a net." She added with a soft snort. "Something came up behind me. All I heard was a squawk, but that could've been the bird." She grumbled. "And then I woke up here, too." She frowned. "I don't even remember falling asleep before you were brought up, either, but I must've..." Hm.

RP Response:Raliegh beamed down at Jimbo, "Thanks I found him hanging from a tree in the forest. He looked so lonely and I couldn't just leave him there ya know?" The gryftoo looked up at him with the same blank stare as always. He nodded, "I will have to do that, don't let me forget to formally introduce myself when we get out of this.. if.. no that's right when." He hoped that since she was with other people when she went missing that meant someone was looking for them, that they wouldn't just go missing like the professor. They would just become some new expedition that would certainly lead more innocent people to being captured like them. "I wonder if they drugged you like they did me? Do you think that's how they are getting us? Do you think that's what happened to the professor...?"

It was hard to say what pushed him to black out first; frustration, exhaustion, pain or a harsh combination of all three.....but when Troy woke up, he felt like utter s**t. Everything hurt, his head felt like it was stuffed with cotton...he could hear voices but it sounded like when people try to talk underwater, garbled and at a nerfed volume. He opened his eyes and was immediately greeted by blurred blobs for vision and dizziness with some light that alluded to sunlight. What time was it? Was it even the same day? After a minute of eye rubbing things were starting to clear up, the naiad sitting up slowly to try and take in his surroundings; there were other cages suspended in the trees, which meant other people behind the voices. He couldn't make out the forest floor...which was probably just as well...and was mildly aware of some odd-looking bugs moving about that looked like living leaves. Troy felt so confused until he felt something warm and furry huddle up against him, glancing down to see the fennekit that had followed him in the forest had ended up in the cage with him. He pet the little guy almost absently as he tried to get his thoughts together....tried to clear his head of this weird mucky feeling.
".....Hello? Ow...s**t..." He winced as he moved and felt the pain in his legs; oh yeah, those freaking bear traps. Wait...."Oiche? Oiche, are you there?" He called out to his unfortunate partner in this mess of ********, not even sure if she was in the same area as he was...or if she was ok.

RP Response: Max blinked his eyes open and looked around the last thing he remembered was being trapped in that puddle unable to get out and now he seemed to be in a food cage. Max frowned what on earth was going on. He felt like he had been drinking all night with friends and since he knew that wasn't the case he had no idea what had happened, but someone had put him in this treetop prison and he didn't think it was Dr. Horn. His sunglasses had been taken, Max hadn't really brought much of anything else with him on this trip, traveling light seemed like a better idea. He had no idea how long he had been knocked out but it was light out now and without his sunglasses and with this headache he was in a lousy state. He eventually noticed the pretty bugs running around the trees and squinted at them, they were cute, he wondered what they were.

RP Response: Max continued to watch the leaf-like bugs move around the trees he held out his hand trying to get one to come closer to him so he could get a better look at the pretty creatures. He didn't have anything better to do at the moment since he still couldn't see very well and his head was killing him. Plus looking down he couldn't see the ground so trying to get out of the cage with nowhere to go was a really bad idea. So hanging out with the leaf bugs seemed to be the only choice at the moment and he would take it.
