Vince smiled sheepishly. He rather liked the idea of being referred to as an expert, though his modesty would never allow him to admit it. "Something like that, I suppose." He shrugged. "Really it's Wei He that does all of the work. I just direct him and train with him." He explained, chuckling as Olivia suggested she could see him riding a Harley. The style of the helmet and darkened visor with black leather and a red stripe was certainly up his alley, he had to admit. "As appealing as that image is, if I were ever to do something of the sort, it would be for a quick rental ride. I would never dream of owning one myself. In fact, I feel like you're trying to talk me into buying one." He suggested with a teasing smirk. He was somewhat concerned however, about the way he came off to people, but Olivia reassured him that his general "bad boy" air was more mysterious than dangerous, which was a bit of a relief. "Ah... I see. I suppose I can live with this." He nodded.
Their second dive was a little more dangerous than the first as Vince had made the mistake of laughing and losing his air. Olivia was quite unhappy with his disregard for safety and flicked him across the forehead again, but this time Vince was expecting it and plus he was too amused to really notice the gesture. "Haha, hey now, it's your fault I laughed and lost air." He suggested. "Don't tell me that getting your hand kissed by a fish is not amusing to you." Olivia retained her fairly serious look however, and so Vince gave in. "Alright, I apologize. I'll try to be more careful in the future." He promised with a gentle smile. "Though if I did push myself too far, I can't say I'd mind getting CPR from you..." He suggested quietly, his smile ever present. Upon looking at the beach however, he noticed two strangers messing around with their pokemon, and insisted that they go check it out.
Lia grinned and signed true as Leo suggested bringing her to a cold place would be too predictable for him. She was surprised that he actually did have some place he wanted to show her, but she wasn't just ready to leave yet, especially since there were so many cute pokemon here, two of which distracted her from inquiring further about this "cool place" Leo insisted he'd found. She pouted at Leo as he insisted that most trainers didn't like strangers hugging their pokemon. Hugs are harmless. Why would they care about hugs, especially if the pokemon don't mind? She insisted in spite of the fact that his question had been rhetorical. She didn't sign this time, she couldn't really with her hands full of cute fire pokemon. As Valerian approached, Lia gave her a large smile. Wow! You look so strong! Hi! What kind of pokemon are you? I've never seen you before~ She asked curiously, blinking as suddenly Li Yu popped out of the sand and into her lap curiously. Oh! Wow! Hello to you too~ She smiled, and then looked up as Lin Hua began making her way towards the commotion. She had been keeping an eye on the two strangers as they approached, but held no real objection to the girl hugging the fire types, but given that they were drawing quite a bit of attention to themselves from the rest of the pokemon, she wanted to be closer to intervene if necessary.
Her presence however, only seemed to make Lia more excited. Woah...! Leo look! A mega sceptile! She gently set Cayenne and Huang Chen down on her knees beside Li Yu to point at Lin Hua excitedly. "Uhm, excuse me." Lia blinked and turned her lavender gaze on the pinkette as she and her companion approached. She gave the two a friendly smile and wave, not looking guilty in the slightest. In her mind, there was nothing to be ashamed of for being affectionate with her new pokemon friends. However, while Olivia had stopped to stand beside Valarian, Vince continued to approach Huang Chen and Li Yu, taking them away from Lia and setting them down on the sand a small distance from the group. "We will talk later." He insisted with a frown after giving them each scolding looks. Huang Chen shrank slightly, memories of the faire coming back to her. She had only just started getting out of hot water, and now it seemed that this stranger had thrown her back in it. Li Yu seemed unfazed however, churring contentedly as she continued wriggling in the sand, so maybe it wouldn't be that bad...?
As Vince turned his attention back to the two strangers, Leo began apologizing for his sister's behavior, insisting that she'd had no intention of harming their pokemon. Lia's face looked like she would have been giggling, though she made no sound, and she began signing again. I think you're somewhat stating the obvious Leo. I don't exactly look like I'd harm anyone~ She insisted. Vince noted the way Lia was moving her hands. He had seen such communication before amongst the deaf, but he had no idea what was being said, so instead he focused on Leo's words. "If harm had been her intention, then I wouldn't be concerned. I'm sure my dragons could hold their own against a human." He suggested, causing Lia to tilt her head. Dragons...? She looked over his pokemon again. A charmander, a dratini, and a mega sceptile. They certainly were dragons. Was he a dragon tamer? "I would appreciate it, however, if you could relay to her that she is not to treat my dragons like plush teddiursa, either." He insisted sternly. I think he thinks I'm deaf. Lia signed, before waving to Vince to get his attention, gesturing to herself, pulling her ear, and pointing to him. Vince's brow furrowed in some confusion. "What is she saying....?" He muttered, casting uneasy glances to Leo in looking for answers. Given that the two seemed to be traveling together and she was signing things to him, he had to assume the blue haired male knew.
Olivia was more forgiving, insisting that since Cayenne was fine and hadn't seemed to mind, she was fine with it, though she advised to get the trainer's permission beforehand. Isn't it the pokemon who should be asked...? I mean, I got their permission... Lia signed, pouting a bit. She brightened however as Olivia introduced herself, waving as Leo introduced them both. Vince remained silent and observant as the introductions went on, not quite keen on introducing himself just yet. He hardly saw reason to, given the circumstances. Consorting with their pokemon without permission, they were complete strangers, and he doubted they would be sticking around long enough for it to matter anyways.
Olivia nodded, listening to Vince, before with a cheeky smile she leaned over to gently pat Wei He's neck. "I guess I should be calling you the expert then," she mused. She straightened back up and then shrugged, "maybe that's apart of my secret identity, being a motorcycle saleswoman." Yes, because she could totally see herself doing that. Perhaps she'd do that instead of policing? It'd certainly be easier. Olivia flashed a smile when Vince stated that he could 'live with' being mysterious. "Glad to hear it~" she chirped.
While she was glad that Vince had found their race back to the surface amusing -- and in some aspects she did as well -- the officer still didn't hesitate to give him the firm reminder of safety. "Yeah, it was funny," she admitted, her expression gradually lightening. "But, I know how to laugh inside my head. Unlike you, apparently." It was an inherently important skill to have, especially when diving without proper equipment. Satisfied with his promise to be more careful, Olivia gave herself the leniency to quirk an eyebrow, and smirk, at the male. "You don't have to almost drown to get me to kiss you, Vince," she informed him, before her attention fell to the land.
Leo sighed and shook his head, a bit exasperated that his sister didn't quite understand. Humans could be a real pain when it came to the whole 'ownership' and 'permission' thing; he would've thought she'd learned that by now. Lia did have a point, however, the pokemon certainly didn't seem to mind the hugs. Valerian, while not exuding any sort of hostility herself, kept her silence even in the face of the, apparent, psychic girl's abilities. She stared at Lia, unblinking, before her attention finally fell to Cayenne, who was still snoozing away. Such an odd creature she was...
"Oh yeah, it is," Leo grunted, eyes lifting up to stare at the leafy gecko that towered over them; whoever this trainer (or trainers) was, they certainly liked to keep giants. At the arrival of two people, the pokemon's trainer assumingly, the blue-haired male appreciated the fact that neither started yelling. That would've been a pain. The girl, and more vocal of the two, didn't even seem too upset which was a bonus. Though the same couldn't be said about her serious-looking friend.
He kept his smile, as best he could, and while he didn't verbally respond to his sister he did send her a telepathic message, insistent that she not comment on his every sentence, Ssssssh, Lia. Leo's smile changed to reflect more humor as the man insisted they could hold their own. While he wouldn't argue with that, one look assured him that he was stronger than all pokemon currently out. "Oh yeah, for sure. Neither of us would stand a chance," he agreed, keeping his true thoughts to himself. Leo cocked his head to the side, however, before laughing. "She's mute, not deaf," he corrected, his gaze immediately shifting to Lia as she began miming the very same information. Man, this guy would suck at charades. "She says she'd treat you like a plush teddiursa," he 'translated' after a moment of watching his sister's fingers move. Man, that had to get tiring.
Moving over to her, Leo offered a hand to Lia to help her stand up before he turned to the other two. "She said that pokemon should be asked, rather than their trainer -- and that she got their permission before." Olivia sat herself down into a chair, then leaned her head to the left before she began wringing her hair of sea water. "Well I'm sorry, but I feel differently -- as do many other trainers. Honestly, I don't mind at all. But others don't share my cavalier approach, it's just always best to ask. It cuts down on miscommunication as well," she educated. She smiled at both after their introductions, though it soured when Vince failed to join in. Instead of dwelling on that, however, she kept her attention on the two before her. "What brings you two down to the beach?" she inquired, looking to keep a conversation going that wasn't about pokemon. "Just passing through, really," Leo answered.

Vince bit the inside of his cheek as Olivia ended up giving all the credit to Wei He due to his modesty. "Something like that, I suppose." He shrugged. "Well...." He started hesitantly, feeling like an idiot. "Like I said, I did train him...." He suggested subtly. He didn't want to make it seem like he was jealous–he wasn't–but Vince couldn't help but feel... Uncomfortable now that he had gone and made Olivia think he wasn't as good at underwater exploration as she had let on. He had liked being referred to as an expert after all, and he hadn't intended to change Olivia's mind about him being one just because he was being modest. Now he wished he hadn't said anything and accepted her praise. Arceus, he was really being idiotic lately. Grimacing and rubbing his forehead, he quickly changed the subject, suggesting that Olivia seemed to be trying to get him to buy a motorcycle and laughing as she played along. "Deceived all this time! I should have known...." He shook his head, trying not to smile and failing to do so.
Unfortunately, even with the change of subject, Vince wasn't doing himself any favors in redemption for his slighted underwater traveling expertise. He tried desperately to argue that Olivia getting her hand kissed by the luvdisc had been the cause of his laughter, and consequently, air. Such an argument seemed valid to Olivia at least, even though she still made him promise to be careful in the future. "This is true." He nodded when Olivia suggested he didn't know how to keep his laughter internal. "As I am sure you have noticed, I generally find it difficult to keep my emotions internal, much more so when taken by surprise...." He admitted. It was strange, because one would not likely consider him to be an emotional sort due to the fact that he displayed indifference to most things, but perhaps that was the reason that he always reacted when he did feel any kind of emotion. It was why Jian always provoked him, because Vince would always react, and that was what Jian sought.
Perhaps it was something he needed to focus on more, not just so that he didn't nearly drown himself, but it might help his relationship with Jian, and it was probably good practice in general to keep himself centered. He couldn't help but comment, however, that if worse came to worse, he wouldn't have minded getting CPR from Olivia. What he hadn't expected was her response. In a matter of seconds his calm exterior had devolved into a nervous wreck as his face flushed, and with a clearing of his throat, he directed Olivia's attention–and the conversation–to the beach where it seemed two people were messing with their pokemon.
Vince's embarrassment wouldn't end there, however. He couldn't help but feel mocked when Leo suggested that he nor Lia would stand a chance against his dragons. There was something faintly smug in the male's smile that reminded him of Jian's quips, a suppressed confidence that rubbed him the wrong way and dared him to challenge it. Vince grit his teeth and bit his tongue, allowing the conversation to die there rather than aggravating the issue further. Instead Vince asked about the gestures Lia was making, discovering that she was mute rather than deaf. His little experience only suggested that the deaf used sign language, so the idea of a mute using it was foreign to him, but made sense. Leo's next translation however, caused both him and Lia to tense and shoot Leo looks. LEO! She screeched telepathically. No signing was required to translate, her teary eyed look of embarrassment and accusation was enough. Still, she accepted his helping hand up onto her feet, carrying the snoozing Cayenne with her. No real harm had been done after all, Leo would never do such a thing as mistranslate to make her look bad, but she still hated it when he flirted with cute guys under the guise of her translations. Vince was not so forgiving though, even as Leo offered the real translation. He was still flustered by Olivia's comment earlier, but that hadn't been bad per se. However, a stranger, and a male one at that, making such a comment was aggravating. He already disliked Leo. His lax attitude and personality reminded him too heavily of Jian and Ducky, and he wanted no part in engaging him further.
Olivia already basically voiced his opinion on the matter of pokemon versus trainer permission anyways, with the exception of her not minding, so he had little more to say on the matter anyways. Lia on the other hand shrugged off Olivia's lecture, not to be rude, but rather because much like the pinkette she felt differently. They're free to think that way I guess, but they'd be wrong. She signed with a gentle smile and a naive sense of certainty. Isn't that right, sleepy bugaboo? She crooned telepathically to the sleeping cyndaquil. It was probably easier for her to take the opinion that pokemon were the ones to get permission from anyways. She was biased after all. Moving on to less serious topics, Leo introduced himself and Lia to the two trainers while Olivia reciprocated the gesture while Vince remained silent and intentionally absent from the conversation. Unfortunately, taking on such an attitude only earned Olivia's disapproval, which made Vince feel somewhat guilty, but otherwise he made no attempt to try and involve himself in the conversation.
Lia, as if sensing the silent tension, handed Olivia her cyndaquil back and gestured to Vince. "What....?" He asked gruffly, averting his gaze as Lia mouthed the word "name" and spelled it with sign language. She hadn't needed to, Vince knew what she was asking the first time he was gestured to, but he was irritable and frustrated and therefore being difficult, none of which seemed to bother Lia in the slightest. "....Vince. My name is Vince." He admitted finally, watching curiously as Lia moved to his charmander and pointed at her. "Huang Chen." He had a feeling he knew where this was going, and sure enough she gestured next to the black dratini. "That's Li Yu." Then she skipped over to Lin Hua and jumped up to point to the mega sceptile's head, and Vince cracked a smile. Who wouldn't be amused by the girl's antics? "Lin Hua." He explained under a stifled chuckle. He even seemed only mildly uncomfortable as she moved to hug Lin Hua afterwards. Lin Hua! It's nice to meet you!~ She grinned. ( "And you as well little one." ) Lin Hua chuckled, albeit taken aback by the girl's telepathic ability, and poked Lia playfully with her nose. "....She's relentless, isn't she?" Vince sighed, rubbing the back of his head and moving to grab his bag so he could return his pokemon, lest he risk Lia finding out he had other pokemon out and go to hug them as well.
He only left out Xiu Feng, who came running over now that she'd noticed Vince had returned. She was covered in sand from playing with Blueberry, and promptly shook herself off, glaring at the two suspicious newcomers as Olivia made light conversation, asking why the twins were at the beach. Lia, though saddened that Vince had returned most of his pokemon, nodded in light agreement with Leo's statement that they were mostly passing through. We like to travel and meander from place to place for fun. She suggested, eying Xiu Feng curiously as she stood dutifully by Vince's side. Given she hadn't met the lupup yet and Vince had left her out, she was interested in what made her so special. Before she could make a move to approach the lupup though, Vince spoke up quickly. "Don't. She doesn't like being touched." Vince warned firmly. It wasn't even a matter of him not wanting her to hug his pokemon anymore, it was a matter of her safety. Lia frowned, but nodded in understanding. If she didn't want to be touched, Lia would respect that, and instead knelt down to smiling at the lupup from afar even though she growled back at Lia. Why are you growling at me? Its awfully impolite. I haven't done anything to you. She insisted, scolding but gentle. Xiu Feng only bristled, hearing Lia's voice in her head. ( "You're talking in my head!" ) She demanded, barking. I wasn't doing that before and you were already growling at me. Besides, I'm just talking to you. Lia insisted. ( "Your filthy human tricks aren't going to work on me. Get out of my head!" ) Xiu Feng snarled, not at all pleased with the way this girl was communicating to her.
Vince tensed as Xiu Feng grew more agitated. He didn't want to have to return Xiu Feng too, since she was almost always out by his side. So you don't like humans? Isn't your trainer a human? Xiu Feng quieted somewhat. ( "Vince is different." ) She said decisively. Really? How so? She asked curiously, tilting her head. ( "It's nothing you would understand. Now go away!" )Aw, don't be like that... I just want to be friends~ Lia insisted, but Vince quickly moved to pick Xiu up. "Can you please just leave her alone?" He insisted firmly, holding Xiu close to him and absently stroking her cheek with his thumb to calm her down. Lia gave Vince an innocent look. After all, sitting and watching from afar seemed harmless. Plus she had another question given the circumstances. I thought you said she didn't like to be touched...? Lia signed, gesturing to Vince holding Xiu Feng and looking confused, but Vince ignored her and didn't wait for Leo to translate. "I'm going to go sign us up for that competition. Just meet me there when you're ready." He insisted, glancing at Olivia. As Vince took his leave, Lia shuffled her feet, feeling a bit bad. It was probably her fault Vince left after all, but she'd just wanted to know more about him and Xiu Feng. Vince hadn't really seemed upset with her though, just nervous that something bad might happen, so she took some comfort in that. Competition...? She inquired, curious as to what Vince had meant by that.

Somehow it happened, that Tay ended up getting Avikna stuck in a conversation with the captian of the ferry, he mentioned something along the lines of his shift was ending when they reached slateport, but he didn't mind boating them across to Lilycove if they really didn't want to walk all the way to Fortree City from Slateport. While Avikna wasn't entirely 1oo% invested, she figured it be nice to continue sailing over the water, with a cool breeze, rather than walk in this heat... plus it would save them a lot of time. In the end she agreed. So after a few hours wandering the city, the duo met with the captain at his private ship and they set sail once more.

Olivia gave Vince a blank look as he, subtly, shifted credit back onto himself, mentioning that he was the one who had, technically, trained Wei He. While he wasn't wrong, the pinkette felt the corner of her mouth twitch up with a smile. "I know you did, Vince," she assured, covering up a laugh as she leaned over to rub Wei He's cheek affectionately. Still in a leaned over position, Olivia snorted with amusement at her companion's antics. By the time she'd pushed herself back up and righted herself, she held a bemused expression as she worked to respond to Vince. "Don't feel bad," she eventually insisted. "Not many know of my double-life." Vince really was a dork, underneath that stoic exterior, but then again... so was she. It was no wonder the two of them got along~
And even when she got upset with him, it was more because she was concerned about his wellbeing. That being said, Olivia couldn't even remain upset too long, any negative emotion she might've felt melting away. "You should look to working on that," she suggested. "As it just so happens, I offer classes that deal with these sort of issues. At a good price too, ten dollars an hour." She wasn't allowed to go deeper into her pitch before Vince, rather boldly, stated he wouldn't mind receiving CPR from her, and while it took her by surprise Olivia still managed to respond in kind. Her teasing remark earned her the sight of a flustered Vince -- something she hadn't seen in a while, and had honestly started to miss -- though she wasn't given the chance to indulge in the sight, Vince quickly drawing her attention towards the beach.
Leo held a rather impressive poker face, remaining serious even as two pairs of eyes landed on him, the stranger and his sister. Eventually he broke though, and snickered in amusement as he looked down at the latter. From behind him he heard Olivia offer a soft chuckle, just as amused as he at the mistranslation. With tensions easing away, Leo allowed himself to relax and leaned gently against Lia after helping her back up. He made it a point to look at her hands, 'reading' her signs, then snorted. This was exactly how fights started. Not leaving Lia without voice, however, he translated and watched as Olivia stiffened momentarily. She regarded Lia with guarded curiosity, but eventually the pinkette shook her head and offered a sympathetic smile, deciding not to push the subject any further. It was obvious she wouldn't change the redhead's opinion, but.. her brother seemed aware. Hopefully, he'd be able to get her to understand.
When handed Cayenne, Olivia took her starter, blue orbs taking in her sleeping form, before they drifted up to follow Lia's movements. Leo did the same, though held within his own gaze subtle apprehension. This one wasn't like Olivia, and while he still held his easy-going smile he remained wary. Lia seemed able to handle herself, and managed to coax an introduction from him and his pokemon. A more genuine smile crossed his features, as Leo watched her, "that's putting it lightly," he mused absently.
All was going well, for the most part, until a strange, canine-like, pokemon came running up, with a dark-blue counterpart. Olivia turned to look at Blue as he trotted after Xiu Feng, fur soaked from when he'd taken a tumble into the water. He was in a jovial mood, tail wagging rapidly, though that changed immediately when he noticed that the number of humans had doubled. Geez. Leo, not to be distracted by the new additions, quickly translated for Lia before adding on, "it's a pretty cool. We get to see a lot of new things." Olivia nodded, inwardly jealous at the two siblings apparent free time. She wish she had the luxury to just travel for fun. "Sounds like you two are living the dream," she joked, and Leo chuckled before nodding in agreement. "Something like that."
Hearing a growl, Leo's head whipped around. For once, his smile wavered before being replaced altogether with a frown. To any onlooker, it appeared that Lia and the pokemon were simply staring at each other, and the latter was simply becoming aggressive from that, but Leo knew better and immediately cast a psychic link out to listen in on what his sister was saying. He could very well understand what the pokemon was saying, and she wasn't taking too kindly to Lia's psychic communication, but he needed to know how she was reacting. Though he didn't comment, the ever deepening frown on his face displayed his disapproval, and it was only when Vince removed his pokemon and walked away did he approach. "Stop antagonizing that pokemon," he warned sternly, taking Lia's arm. "Not everyone's going to want to be your friend, and you pushing it won't help." It was... frustrating the way she didn't understand that, but only because of how dangerous her naivety could be. He just didn't want her to get hurt.
Hoping that she understood, Leo turned to Olivia. He was curious too, about the competition Vince had mentioned. The pinkette was momentarily busy, returning all but Blue, Valerian, and Licorice to their pokeballs, and it was only once she was done did she give her attention to the siblings. "Your prickly friend mentioned a competition?" Leo broached, and she gave a hint of a smile. "Yeah. They're holding a battle competition here, winner gets some sort of... soda based prize? I'm not entirely sure, but Vince and I were gonna sign up," she explained. Leo nodded, "oh, cool." Olivia waited a moment, gaze wandering back to where Vince had gone. "Do you guys want to participate? I imagine it'll be fun.""Nah, we're not really pokemon trainers. But, we're not really doing anything. So we could watch? I make a pretty good cheerleader." Olivia laughed, then nodded. "Well alright then. I expect to hear you cheering the loudest out there."
Olivia waved over to Licorice, indicating that she should join them. Valerian was already by her side, and Blue... well, he'd taken off after Xiu Feng and Vince, concerned about his friend and unwilling to be left alone with three humans. With them gathered, Olivia began to head over to the location of the competition, Leo slowly following after.

Vince found it quite amusing how, after admitting to be a motorcycle saleswoman, she soon began trying to sell him classes to work on helping with his emotions. "Oh no, I refuse to fall for your sales tricks again." He insisted with a smile. It wasn't long before Vince had embarrassed himself into focusing on the beach and noticing the two strangers messing with their pokemon, but soon after, introductions had been made and circumstances had been explained such that they were all easing the tension once again. That was, until Xiu Feng came into the picture. In spite of Vince warning Lia, she continued gesturing until Vince had to pick Xiu Feng up and carry her away from the redhead in order to prevent the situation from escalating. Lia frowned as Leo approached, telepathically insisting that she stop antagonizing Xiu Feng. I wasn't antagonizing.... I just wanted to know what was wrong. Leo insisted that not every person and pokemon would want to be her friend, however, and that pushing them wouldn't help. She supposed he was right, but she didn't really understand why someone would be so on edge when she'd done nothing to them. She said nothing, just looking out to the sea with a subdued expression. She wouldn't bother Xiu Feng any more.
Before storming off, Vince had mentioned a competition, one Lia was somewhat interested in, and possibly Leo too, or maybe he was just translating for her sake. Olivia explained a bit more upon Leo's request, before asking if they planned to participate. Lia shook her head and stood as Leo explained that they weren't really trainers, but he volunteered them both to cheering the two strangers on as they watched. I'm not much of a cheerleader, but I can still send good thoughts and positive energy~ Lia signed with a inaudible giggle. She would certainly be more vocal if she could actually speak. I can also wave my arms really wide! She offered, following Olivia and her brother to the soda shack. Vince noticed the trio enter and made his way through the slight crowd towards them, still carrying Xiu Feng. "You're just in time. I signed us up and they're about to start." Vince explained, glancing over to the twins as they followed in after Olivia. Vince tensed somewhat at their appearance. Honestly, he was hoping they would take this as their cue to leave, but he gave no outward indication of the thought, knowing how Olivia would feel about such an unfriendly stance on the matter. Lia was somewhat avoiding eye contact with Vince, but signed to him and asked Leo Tell him I'm sorry. When Leo translated, Vince gave Lia a nod of thanks before turning his attention to the makeshift arena in the middle of the shack where an announcer called out his and Olive's names and instructing them to step forward. Vince rearranged his team as he began making his way over, swapping Huang Chen for Lin Hua, given that the young charmander would need the training more than the mega sceptile. Actually, there were a lot of new pokemon he had with him that needed training, but Vince had yet to really meet them and establish any sort of relationship, so he felt uncomfortable with the idea of throwing them directly into a competitive battle.
Stepping into the arena, Vince set Xiu Feng down before sending out Huang Chen, who blinked her eyes and adjusted to her new surroundings. "Are you ready to redeem yourself?" Vince suggested, quirking an eyebrow. Huang Chen's eyes gleamed as she nodded rapidly. She'd been dreaming of being allowed to fight again, and finally, her chance had come. ( "I'll be a really good listener, I promise!" ) She insisted with a wiggle. Anything was better than not being allowed to fight again, it was so boring. "Alright, settle down and focus, our opponents approach." Huang Chen nodded and looked ahead, waiting for the other double battle team to make their way to the center of the room after being called. Instead, a woman holding a microphone mad her way through the crowd along with her partner, a cameraman, who looked like he was filming. "Hey! Hi! Wow you two look like you could be some challenging trainers. Ty, you have your camera rolling, right?" The woman asked with a wide smile as she adjusted her suit and hair. When Ty gave the thumbs up, she smiled elegantly and held the microphone to her lips with pride. "Hellloooooo Hoenn! It's your favorite TV Mauville hosts from the Seeking Trainer's program, Gabby and Ty! We're here today with an exciting scoop from the Seashore House on Route 109 just outside of Slateport City where a double battle royale is about to begin! The grand prize? A lifetime supply of the Seashore House's homemade refreshing soda pop! Doesn't that sound nice on a hot summer's day like this?!" Vince honestly had no idea what was going on. He hadn't expected this event to be so popular, or at least not enough to get the attention of this camera crew, and before he knew it, Gabby had turned her attention and microphone to him. "Before we start this battle, let's hear a little bit about our opponents!" Vince hesitated as the microphone was suddenly shoved into his personal space, looking extremely uncomfortable. Not only was this interview completely unexpected, but he wasn't great when it came to videos and cameras either, especially when strangers were the ones taking said pictures and videos. Noticing Vince's hesitation, Gabby tilted the mic away and whispered, "Don't worry, just give me your name and where you come from. Easy as pie." She encouraged. It seemed simple enough that Vince was able to somewhat snap out of his daze. "My name is Vince, I'm from Blackthorn City." He managed to say. "Wow! Blackthorn City! That's a long ways away!" Gabby chimed in, turning her attention to Olivia. "And what about you miss?" She inquired.
Once she had gotten both of their introductions, she addressed them both. "Alright! Is there anything you'd like to say before we start?""I think I'll let this battle do the talking for me." Vince suggested. Now that he had been able to adjust to this... Unique situation, he was a little more relaxed. "Woah! This guy's serious! I think we're in for a great battle today folks. Without further adieu, let's go!" Gabby first sent out her magnamite, and Vince turned to Olivia to talk some strategy. "I'll take Gabby, you take Ty." He suggested quietly as Huang Chen stepped forward to face her opponent. "Alright Magnemite, use Supersonic!" Gabby commanded, watching as the magnemite sent shrill soundwaves towards Huang Chen to make her head spin. "Shake it off and use Heat Wave!" Vince commanded, but Huang Chen was seeing double, no, triple, and quadruple, and then as she tried firing her heat wave, the world tilted and she fell to the floor. "Now we've got it! Thundershock!" Gabby instructed, and her magnemite jolted Huang Chen, inflicting both damage and paralysis as the static clung to her scales even after the move finished.
Huang Chen grew irritated as she struggled to her feet. This was her chance to prove to Vince that she was competent as a teammate, and she couldn't move. ( "I... Was gonna.... Prove..." ) Huang Chen muttered, grimacing as she tried again to move, but she couldn't feel her legs. Vince was growing frustrated too. Not only was he already losing helplessly like he had with Zinzolin, but this was a type matchup favorable to him and still somehow he was screwing up, and on live TV to boot. "Dammit, not again..." Vince cursed under his breath, getting ready to withdraw Huang Chen just to save them both the embarrassment. Huang Chen's vision cleared just enough so that she could see Vince readying her fire ball. ( "No! I can do this! Just give me a chance!" ) She growled, continuing to try and struggle to her feet. Seeing her determination to keep going made Vince pause, and then nod, reattaching her ball onto his belt. If she wasn't giving up yet, then he wouldn't either. Seeing that Vince was willing to let her prove herself, Huang Chen was happy beyond words. She was going to finish this battle, one way or another. She refused to just quit now, when she was so close. ( "rrrRRGH....!!" ) In spite of her struggling, Huang Chen still had yet to even stand. She hated it. First she felt helpless when she was poisoned in the forest and Vince had to rush her to the pokemon center, now she'd been brought to her knees with confusion and paralysis. "Come on Huang Chen, let's finish this." Vince commanded. "Those are some bold words, considering your position. I like your guts!" Gabby flashed him a smile, but it quickly dropped as Huang Chen glowed brightly, and started to change form. "Woah! Ty, you getting this?!" Huang Chen, now a charmeleon, growled loudly as she rose to her feet on all fours. ( "These stupid status conditions are really starting to piss me off!" ) She roared, sending a massive heat wave into the magnemite and instantly knocking it out. Satisfied, Huang Chen relaxed and wavered in stance, but Vince was there to steady her. "You did great Huang Chen, sit down and take it easy." He insisted. Huang Chen wanted to keep fighting, but she knew she was in no condition to continue. Frankly she was just thankful Vince allowed her to finish this fight, so she did as she was told while Li Yu finished the battle instead. With her fire blast, she was able to take out Gabby's metang handily, but ran into a bit of trouble with her mawile given the fairy typing. Still, Li Yu persisted, and Vince was able to hold out in the end so that he could spray both of his dragons down with potions and give Huang Chen a Cheri Berry to help with her paralysis.

Leo looked at his sister, visage purposefully unreadable, before he shook his head. "You kept pushing for an answer, that's pretty much antagonizing," he insisted. She seemed to understand though, despite her protests, and with a soft sigh the blue-haired male wrapped one arm around Lia's shoulder, pulling her in for a hug. "Come on, it'll be alright," he assured quietly, squeezing her shoulder gently before he finally released her.
The situation now officially defused, Leo found himself able to fully relax and laughed heartily at Lia. She was just adorable~ Not leaving Olivia hanging, he translated for his sister and watched with appreciation as the pinkette chuckled good-naturedly. "Hey, that's as good as cheering! Some might say it's even better. Thanks, you two." Put in a good mood by the siblings, Olivia joined Vince over at the shack and looked over at her pokemon team. Save for switching Pichu with Valerian, she'd kept the same pokemon in her active party since she'd started her journey. There'd need to be a switch up soon, probably, but not now. "Hey Blue," Olivia walked over to the Lupup, who was sulking on the ground in a lone corner. He lifted his head up off his paw, and while he didn't growl at her, he didn't greet her warmly. She didn't seem to mind though. "Do you think you'd be up to battle?" he inquired, then waited patiently as he regarded her quietly before giving a stiff nod. "Alright. Thanks."
They were participating in double team battles, something Olivia couldn't say she had much experience in, but she figured it wouldn't be much different than a normal battle. "Alright, I expect you two to keep you promise and cheer us on," she addressed both Leo and Lia with a smile. "You've got it, boss-lady! Good luck to you two," Leo remarked, shooting the two double-pistols and a wink before he led Lia over to the sidelines. Olivia followed Vince onto the arena, Blue following a few paces behind before taking the lead and stepping onto the battlegrounds. Both trainer and pokemon looked up as two individuals stepped onto the opposite side of the field, the latter offering a quiet growl as the loud woman stepped up.
"Huh, I didn't think this event was so popular," Olivia mused quietly to herself, taking in the reporter duo, Gabby and Ty. She chuckled as she watched Gabby interview Vince first, her soft chuckle growing more audible as she noticed Vince's uncomfortableness. Thankfully, he managed to overcome his social ineptitude and gave an answer to Gabby's question. "I'm Olive, and I hail from Ecruteak. Nice to meet you," she introduced, then smiled at the camera. She never thought she'd be on TV. With introductions out the way, they got down to the battle itself and Olivia nodded as Vince suggested she take Ty. "Sounds good to me. What say you, Blue?" she addressed her pokemon, withholding a smirk as he simply nodded.
"Alright, we've got a perfect shot here! Let's keep it rolling!" Ty exclaimed, sending out his Swinub. "Let's do this quick, Blue! Use Iron Tail!" she commanded, and immediately he charged forward, tail taking on a metallic sheen, and slammed down onto the opponent. Just like that the battle was over, and Blue trotted back over to Olivia. It was... far quicker than expected, but she couldn't complain and while she waited for a shocked Ty to switch in his next pokemon, she took the time to check on Vince and Huang Chen. Their battle wasn't going as easy for them as it was for her and Blue, Huang Chen suffering from paralysis, but they managed to fight through -- with the Charmander evolving into a Charmelon before she finished off her opponent.
The sudden evolution took Ty's attention, as he switched from trainer mode back into cameraman and made certain to capture said event. This gave Olivia time to switch Blue with Licorice, and once the man's attention was back on her they continued their battle. Much like her 'son', the Sableye managed to win her battle with a single move and generously gave up her spot to Poppy, once Ty sent out his Cubone. Hers was a much longer battle, compared to Blue and Licorice, but eventually Poppy too came out victorious, and Olivia rewarded her efforts with praise and a few spritz of a potion.

Lia folded her arms. Well pokemon don't just growl at people like that for no reason. I figure she should at least give an explanation.... Maybe I could have helped her. She suggested, blushing slightly as Leo pulled her into a hug and reassuring her that everything would be alright. Lia blew a bit of air upwards to get her bangs out of her eyes since her arms were immobilized by her brother, and soon things had brightened again as the remaining trio talked about the competition Vince had mentioned. Lia smiled widely as Olivia suggested that her mute cheering might be even better than normal. At the very least, it made her feel helpful. They made their way into the shack and once Olivia joined with Vince, the two jumped right into the fray, and as promised, Lia made large waving motions with her arms and soundless cheers for Vince and Olivia as they fought. When the battle was over, Xiu Feng tackled Blue with a big grin on her face. ( "Haha~ That was awesome! You were all like WHAM! One hit KO! Luckkkyyy, I wish I could have battled too." ) She was a bit torn between admiration and jealousy, but then she got an idea, brightening a bit as her tail swung back and forth. ( "Now are you ready? 'Cause your next challenger is meee!!!" ) She laughed and pounced on him, playfully biting his ear.
Vince and Olivia were allowed a small break so that another two groups could face off, and in the meantime, Vince sized Huang Chen up. She felt anxious under his scrutiny, wondering if somehow she'd messed up and done something wrong again. "Relax. You did well. Frankly I'm impressed that you evolved with such little training, but your determination to finish the fight was commendable, and with it you have earned your place on my team." He complimented. Huang Chen radiated with pride. She'd been wanting so long now to be accepted, it felt good to have finally earned Vince's approval. Vince raised his hand slightly, meaning to rub her head, but hesitated and instead gently pat her on the shoulder. "Keep up the good work." He insisted, turning away. Huang Chen tilted her head, a little disappointed but... If that was the best he could give at the moment, then she would take it.
Lia soon made her way back through the crowd towards her new acquaintances with a wide smile. You two were great! She signed excitedly. Vince didn't really know what she was saying, but he could take a guess given her bubbly beaming. "I... Er... Saw you cheering." He commented with an awkward smile. It was probably the closest thing to a "thank you" that Lia was going to get, but she could feel his gratitude, even if he had difficulty expressing it. Her warm smile gave away what she knew and made Vince shove his hands in his pockets and look away in embarrassment, and Lia gave an inaudible giggle. It wasn't long before Vince and Olivia were called up again though, and as they took the stage, they were greeted by an.... Interesting sight, if one could call it that.
There was a swimmer woman in a bikini who seemed to be holding hands with a reluctant looking bug catcher. Gabby and Ty, though no longer fighting this round, still had a job to do as far as filming the competition, and they quickly began to interview the two. "And who is this couple?" Gabby asked with enthusiasm. "I'm Alex, and this cutie here is my Cammy~" She crooned and pinched his cheek as he grimaced and pushed her hand away. "My name is Cameron, and we are not a couple!""Oh, sweetums, I'm sorry, you're right. We're so much more than a couple! We're star crossed lovers! Fated to be together! I even changed my team of water pokemon to match his preferences~" Cameron looked disgusted. "I have a girlfriend!""See, you heard him! I'm his girlfriend!" The poor bug catcher looked exasperated. The odd pair probably needed each other to qualify for this competition and Cameron got more than he bargained for. Vince honestly felt sorry for the guy. He knew Alex's type, the desperate kind of woman, the ones that hung all over Jian whenever he went to a bar. It was disgusting and disgraceful. The sad part was Alex probably didn't have a clue about how big of a fool she was making herself on live TV. It was questionable that she even actually loved Cameron as much as she claimed. She only really seemed to be trying to show off their relationship in front of the camera, probably in the attempt to make some ex boyfriend of hers jealous. Why did this couple have to be their opponent? Vince didn't want to fight either of them.
Frowning and trying not to deadpan, he turned to Olivia again. "I suppose... Purely based on positioning.... I'll take Alex..." He managed to say through a grit toothed grimace. He honestly wanted nothing to do with the strange pair, so the faster this battle went, the better. "Well... Er.... Lets get this battle underway then!" Gabby suggested, not quite sure what else to say on the matter. Much to Xiu Feng's disappointment, Vince sent out Li Yu again to fight. Still, it was a smart choice against the women's water bug pokemon, and after zapping them each with a hearty thunder, they went down, one by one rather quickly. "Oh no...! My beautiful water bug pokemon! They were a symbol of our combined type preferences! You'll avenge me won't you Cammy? This injustice just can't be ignored! Fight for me my love!!!" Alex wailed, and Vince rubbed his forehead. Her incessant shrieking was really starting to give him a headache.

Leo shook his head in the slightest form of exasperation, how Lia managed to be so optimistic, nearly all the time, was beyond him. "You can't help everyone, and not everyone needs help," he responded, and left it at that. He grinned down at his sister, amused at the sight of her blush, but released her before too long. After their battle, Blue kept close to Licorice, his tail wagging softly as she scratched his head in praise for a battle well done; which was far more rewarding than the self-satisfaction he felt in himself. The pup yelped when he was tackled, his vision obscured by a black and red pelt, but rather quickly wiggled himself into a sitting position. A bit surprised at Xiu Feng's excitement, especially since he thought she was upset with him, it took Blue a few seconds to process her words, and then several more to come up with a response. ( "Oh, uh, nah! It wasn't all that impressive!" ) he insisted, ever the humble one. ( "Maybe you'll battle next time? I bet you'll do even better than me!" ) He'd never actually seen Xiu Feng battle before, so it'd be one battle he'd look forward to. ( "Huh? What?" ) Caught off guard by his friend's impromptu battle request, Blue didn't have enough time to ready himself before he was tackled, again, but this time he managed to, gently, clamp down onto Xiu's paw. ( "Haha! I won't lose to you!" ) he growled, in between her fur.
During their break, without much to do, Olivia contended herself by observing Vince and Huang Chen; the bond between pokemon and trainer, if only her camera weren't in her bag, she'd have definitely taken a picture of the two. "Hey you two, great job out there," Leo called out, as he carefully maneuvered through the crowd of onlookers to follow after his sister. Lia had the same thought--surprising, considering how little she enjoyed battle--but it seemed he didn't need to translate for her, as Vince got the gist of it. Both he and Olivia observed the interaction between Lia and Vince, the former offering a good-natured chuckle afterwards. "Look at that, you two are already on your way to becoming a couple," he joked, and Olivia snorted. She punched his shoulder, playfully, as she passed him to head back for the next round, "I didn't hear you cheering last time, I hope you fix it this time."
Olivia stared, in mild amusement, at the antics of Alex, with a half-smile on her face. She felt bad, for both parties, 'Cammy' had certainly gotten more than he'd bargained for when he'd picked her as a partner, and Alex... she was probably just trying to cope with a break-up? Or something like that. The girl actually reminded her of one of her own friends, maybe she'd call her up soon, the two hadn't spoken in a while. Not surprising, she seemed to be the only one who found Alex semi-amusing, and Olivia couldn't help but to chuckle Vince's reluctance. "Good luck," she remarked, patting his shoulder. To Cameron, she offered him a sympathetic smile before she sent out Pichu, a good choice against his Ledyba. Vince and Li held a stronger type advantage, allowing them to breeze through their battle and finish before Olivia and Cameron. She didn't mind, but she couldn't help but feel for her opponent, who had his hands full with battling and dealing with his partner. For both their sakes, she made sure to end the battle quickly.
"You did a good job, Cayenne," Olivia complimented as the Cyndaquil came racing back, her injuries in no way obstructing her. The pinkette smiled and picked her up, giving her a gentle scratch of the head, before she began treating her with a potion. From the crowd one voice in particular rang out above the rest, "whooooo! You showed those lovers! Go Olive!" Grinning, she turned around to try and spot Leo, a rather easy task considering how his hair color let him stand out like a sore thumb. "Keep it up, you two!"

Lia continued to pout as Leo insisted she couldn't help everyone. Watch me! She insisted in a playfully stubborn tone, sticking out her tongue. She reluctantly let the topic drop though as her brother cuddled her in a hug. It had a sort of pacifying effect on her, soothing and lulling.
Xiu Feng laughed at Blue's modesty, but her tail wagged at the prospect of getting to battle next. ( "Maybe! Why wait though? We can find out who's the better battler now!" ) She yipped, challenging him by insisting that she was his next opponent before they playfully sparred on the floor, rolling around and nipping at each other's appendages. Xiu laughed and tugged his ear back to try and keep him from getting her paw, but in the end they both had each other pinned. ( "I think we're at a tie haha." ) She chuckled amidst her mouthful of his ear, letting go and grooming the fur so that it didn't look mangy from her tugging. Her tail was still wagging a mile a minute though.
Vince gave Leo an appreciative nod at his compliments, but any amicability he had in the gesture melted away into a deep frown as the blue haired male suggested he was on his way to becoming a couple. Vince wasn't really sure if he was referring to himself and Lia or Olivia, but he didn't appreciate the teasing either way. Before he could give some smart remark though, Olivia was snorting off Leo's comment and punching him in the shoulder, smoothly changing the subject to the fact that she hadn't heard Leo cheering. "Yeah, didn't you promise your sister to cheer for the two of you?" He insisted, though his tone and expression made it hard to tell if he was being serious, passive aggressive, or just teasing. Not that it would have mattered much anyways as Olivia and Vince were soon called up again for their second battle.
This time, Leo was very audible, as promised, though Vince wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. Now he kind of regretted prompting Leo to cheer louder, especially since the twins were really the only ones in the building that knew them and were cheering for them. It was like having his mom in the stands screaming for him to win. She would, too. Ugh. Vince buried his face in a hand, determined to just grin and bear it. Maybe he could tell Leo to tone it down during this next brea-- "Ladies and gentleman let's have our two finalists come to the ring!" The announcer boomed, which demolished any plans Vince had to speak with Leo about his cheering. At the very least, the upcoming duo would be the last of their challengers. They were a pair of martial arts sisters, which Vince found interesting. One sported fighting types while the other seemed to prefer fairy types. "I'll take the fighting type sister; Xiu Feng has been wanting to battle and I feel her patience should be rewarded." He suggested to Olive. Though it was a bit perturbing that they didn't get a break between these last two opponents, Xiu had yet to fight and Vince was certain she could hold her own.
Calling to his lupup, Xiu Feng hopped off of Blue with a grin and a happy yip, charging into the makeshift arena to take on the fighting types. It was a bit of a struggle because she didn't have a strong fairy type move to use yet, but her ability more than made up for it, knocking each of their opponent's pokemon out in two hits and managing fairly well until the final pokemon, a combusken, activated it's blaze ability and burned Xiu. Thankfully it only took one more hit afterwards for the fire type starter to be knocked out such that Vince could heal her back up and give her a lum berry to cure her burn. It seemed as though Olive had held her own as well, which meant they had won the tournament. It felt pretty good to actually end up winning, however he soon received a text on his xtransceiver that quickly ruined his mood.

I did not leave on this journey to go find "hot chicks" and certainly not other men. Besides, that's none of your business.
He asserted angrily and then sighed, rubbing his head once the text was sent, following Olivia to the counter in the back to retrieve their prize from the owner. "Congratulations to you both! You've won a years supply of our soda pop!" He handed them forms to fill out for where the soda should be sent, a space available for a home address or a PC Storage number. "Ah... I don't really have any interest in taking a share of the prize. You can have mine..." Vince insisted, handing his slip of paper over to Olivia. Then his xtransceiver went off again. It was probably Ducky, but before Vince could see the sender, his device was covered with the image of some woman's butt with the caption "something went twang ;3" and Vince made a noise of disgust, quickly deleting the text. He was certain that Ducky had just meant to send the picture to Jian and it was an accident since he'd just texted Vince, but regardless he didn't care to engage Ducky at all in regards to the picture.

Leo stared at Lia, a smile fighting its way onto his features despite the seriousness he'd previously tried to instill. 'Yeah, alright', he agreed, amusingly frustrated. Lia would, most definitely, be the death of him.
Blue worked hard, on not to bite Xiu Feng too hard and not to allow his laughter loosen his hold on her. Eventually she called it quits--most likely because she knew that she was no match for him--and Blue released her paw with a wag of his tail. He took a cue from her, and matted down the fur he'd managed to tug up in their playful tussle, ( "well have to continue this, later then." ) he suggested before rolling over, right onto his back. ( "That way we can know for sure, who's stronger." ) He was preeetty sure it was him though.
It seemed both Olivia and Vince's teasing--at least, the former had been teasing--was enough to fire Leo up and motivate him to start cheering up a storm, his voice of praise echoing loud and clear above the rest of the crowd. Olivia was rather impressed, if her grin was enough to go by, and certainly felt inspirited. Which was a good thing, since after defeating the odd couple both she and Vince were immediately moved on to the final round. Though they had no break, they were at least given enough time to heal their pokemon before they confronted their last opponents. Olivia looked out at the two girls, impressed at their matching outfits though their type preferences differed. "Alright," she turned to the fairy type sister, an idea of who she'd use already in her head. "Good luck."
After the battle she exhaled slowly, and Olivia waited until she'd refilled the oxygen in her lungs before she shot a smile. Alright then, they'd won first place! Which was a pretty decent outcome, considering they'd only just recently heard of the competition. Olivia stepped away from the battle area, and moved over to the counter of the soda shack, where they would receive their prize. "A year's supply of soda pop," she mused, mind failing to comprehend just how much carbonated sugar that was. She took her form and read it over, right hand absently reaching for a pen to start signing. "Oh? You don't want an entire year worth of soda?" she teased, glancing up to Vince from her paper when he, graciously, offered her his supply. Now she had two years of soda, that was far too much for a single person. Olivia hummed to herself, but didn't allow herself to think too long on the decision and wrote in her PC storage number on both papers; she'd tell Freddie about that later, and allow him to take care of it.
Olivia, finished, turned to Vince in order to ask him what their next plan of action. Before she could, however, he made a questionable sound of disgust in the direction of his Xtransceiver. She raised an eyebrow, "everything alright?" It wasn't long after that Leo and Lia found the two, the blue-haired male nothing but grins. "Congratulations, winners!" he chirped, hands thrown behind his head and fingers laced together. "So what's next for us? Celebratory dinner? Victory lap around the beach?" It was hard to tell if he was joking, his tone somehow joking and genuine.
Unbeknownst to Olivia, while she and Vince had been competing, Elgyem had been keeping busy herself. She'd taken it upon herself to leave the beach and head for the city, a quest she assured Valerian--item guarder--she'd return from soon enough. But rather than explore the vast city, she made for the Pokémon Center, a psychic-type on a mission, and once there she made use of the standard PC to login into Olivia's account, which was far too easy for her. Her intentions were without malice, as she simply looked through the box of captive pokemon, and made a decision to put one out on the GTS. They had more than enough ice types for research, and she doubted they'd need duplicates of the same pokemon. This way was better.

Xiu Feng grinned and nodded in agreement to Blue's proposed rematch at a later date, which was probably for the best since Xiu got her wish and was called up for battle because Vince needed her. She was too preoccupied with the battle to really take notice of Leo's loud cheering, but Vince wasn't. He heard Leo loud and clear, much to his dismay. It seemed, however, that while he tried to ignore it, Olivia was enjoying it, which Vince found even more irritating, but he kept his focus on the battle until it was won and they retrieved their prize. Or rather, Olivia took both of theirs. He laughed and shook his head as Olivia questioned his decision teasingly. "No, I simply wished to participate in the contest. I have no interest in any prize other than the satisfaction of emerging victorious. Also, I do not care for soda." Vince explained, though given her teasing tone she likely already knew this. Given that he didn't really care for sugary flavors, it made sense.
Then he got the second text from Ducky and gave an involuntary noise of disgust, causing Olivia to question if everything was alright. "Everything is fine." Vince grunted. "A friend of my brother's just sent me a text that I'm certain he meant to sent to Jian. It seems he is traveling with a woman that he finds attractive and wishes to share pictures of her backside. It's disgusting and I want no part of it." Vince explained truthfully, folding his arms and closing his eyes with a sigh. Eventually, the siblings found their way through the crowd after Vince and Olivia received many congratulations and compliments on the battle from their observers, Leo offering one of his own before asking what they planned to do next. Admittedly, Vince wasn't sure why the pair was sticking with them, why they were being so casually buddy-buddy.
It made Vince feel anxious, waiting for them to move on and noticing that they were not, and did not appear to be planning to do so any time soon. "I believe you mentioned a pokemon contest being here, and suggested we could watch one should we have the time. I would like to do that now, if that is okay. Do you know where the contest is?" He suggested, though he appeared to be directing the inquiry mostly to Olivia rather that the twins. If they had no interest, then that was better. Or at least, that's what he told himself. Oh great! I love pokemon contests!~ Lia signed happily. She wasn't as oblivious as she appeared to Vince's desire to be left alone with Olivia, but she wished to stay together for a little while longer at the very least.
"Whaaat?" Not quite finished scribbling her information in, Olivia stopped and looked up at Vince, a feigned look of shock on her face. "You don't like soda? I would've never guessed!" It wasn't as if he hadn't told her that he didn't like sweets, or anything like that. Once she'd finished signing off on her winnings, she was free to give her complete attention to her companion, just in time to hear him explain the unsavory text he'd received. Olivia blanked, Vince's explanation the last thing she'd expected, before a scowl formed on her face, a rare sighting. Even with his elegant explanation, it didn't take from the fact that Vince had been sent a picture of a woman's rear.
"You're right, that is disgusting," she agreed, still holding her scowl. What kind of person sent out those kinds of texts? It wasn't as if she didn't know. Olivia took a moment to recompose herself, fighting back both her reaction as an officer and as a woman who had just found out her friend had been sent an inappropriate picture, and her facial expression relaxed. "Have you thought about blocking this guy's number? It'd save you from seeing any more pictures, accident or not." Though still irritated, Olivia was grateful she'd managed to calm herself down before Leo and Lia had returned, she didn't want to have to explain to them why she was upset. Not when they both seemed to be in good spirits.
The pinkette chuckled good-naturedly at Leo's excitement. "You seem more excited than us," she teased, to which he flashed a beamish smile and winked. "Hey, if I am then that's your fault." Olivia snorted and shook her head, amused, before she looked up at Vince. "Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that. We can go, I imagine the contest hall is still open." At least she hoped it was, at this point in the day it was about mid-afternoon, and so, unless they were having any event of sorts or closed for renovations, they should've still been open. "What a coincidence!" Leo spoke up. "Lia loves contests. Do you mind if we join you? I know where the contest hall is, so I can lead you over to it too." Olivia took a few seconds to give the siblings an answer, looking to Vince first to try and gauge his reaction, but eventually she gave the two a nod. "Sure, the more the merrier," she replied, genuinely happy to have the two come along.
Leo seemed just as pleased, "great!" With a grin still on his face, he seemed to consider something. "Want us to meet you over at the Pokémon Center, in about forty-five minutes? I imagine the two of you will want to get your things and change." He brought up a good point, Olivia realized as she looked down at herself. She wasn't wearing what she'd consider, 'contest appropriate attire', and after that dip in the ocean she was in need of a quick shower. "Yeah, that'd work," she agreed, nodding her head. "Great!" chirped the bluenette. "We'll see two soon then." Parting for now, Leo walked away from the duo, fully expecting Lia to follow, and once left alone Olivia turned to Vince, "let's go get our stuff?" she suggested, then turned to begin walking back to where they'd left their things.

Vince smirked at Olivia's sarcastic quip on the soda given he'd mentioned the same thing when he first saw the contest. "Well you questioned my decision, so I felt the need to reiterate." Vince suggested teasingly, and then turned his attention to his xtransceiver instead. It certainly got his mind off of drinking, but he would have preferred a different distraction. His disgruntled noise caught Olivia's attention too however, and he felt obligated to tell her the truth. She seemed just about as upset as he was over it though, which was.... Admittedly surprising. Not because he didn't think she would find it just as bad, but he didn't recall ever seeing her make such an expression before. She rarely got upset or angry, from what he'd seen of her, so it was just something different; a different side of her that he was glad not to be on the receiving end of.
When Olivia suggested he block the number, Vince strongly considered it for a moment. "Unfortunately, I don't believe that is a possible solution." Vince sighed. "If I did such a thing I would never hear the end of it, from him, his family, and mine...." Vince grunted. "He's also prone to getting himself into trouble, and as much as I despise him... I can't risk not being available." He ran a hand through his hair with another sigh. That was one way of putting the situation at least. Being allied clans was all well and good in theory but it felt like Ducky abused that status as an excuse not to be completely cut out of Vince's life. Not that it was the other male's intention but... Vince shook his head. "Also.... Even if I were able to block him without repercussions.... I wouldn't know how. I am not very adept with this machine..." Vince admitted. Really, he wasn't technologically savvy in any way. He'd never much liked machines, finding them too artificial for his tastes. When the twins returned, Vince did what he could to remain amicable, or at the very least not openly hostile. He certainly would rather move on without the twins, and wasn't sure why they wouldn't leave him and Olive alone, but it was clear they weren't going any time soon, what with Lia's excitement about contests. Of course she does. Vince thought bitterly to himself as Leo also suggested they tag along. He continued to wear a neutral expression, glancing to Olivia as he felt her eyes on him. She was looking for his thoughts on the matter, which he appreciated, but he wasn't about to deny the two for no good reason. Vince closed his eyes and gave a light tilt of his head that seemed to be a subtle shrug, which Olivia seemed to interpret as permission if she didn't mind the tagalongs. At least they had a tour guide now, with Leo offering to take them to the contest hall itself. Vince blinked however at Leo's suggestion that they change. "....Yes. They would probably not appreciate us dragging sand into the contest hall..." Vince agreed, causing Lia to give an inaudible giggle. So you do have a sense of humor~ Wow! Who'd've known it? Lia suggested with a sly grin before leaving off with Leo to let the two do as her twin suggested.
Vince visibly relaxed a little once the twins left. He didn't know why he felt so on edge. Maybe it was still aftershock of what happened with Lia and Xiu Feng, or maybe it was just his usual anti-social issues, or even a combination of both. He glanced over to Olivia with a small tired smile as she suggested they head out, giving a light nod and following her back out to the beach where Valerian was still dutifully guarding their spot. Gathering their things, they made their way back to the pokemon center to book a room so they could shower. They'd need to have a place to sleep now after all, since they had a couple more activities planned and it was already in the afternoon. "Ladies first." Vince suggested casually–referring to the shower–before dropping his bag onto one of the two beds and following it soon after, folding his arms behind his head.
"Mm, well alright," Olivia eventually spoke, clearly discontent with Vince's grim resolution but understanding enough not to push the issue; if it was more trouble than it was worth... Eventually she picked up a, sympathetic, smile and then laughed. It was odd to find that Vince didn't know too much about his communicator, considering it was the norm for teenagers and young adults to be knowledgeable in all things technology, but at the same time... Vince wasn't the average young adult. "I can show you how to do it later," she offered, any traces of her anger now thoroughly stamped out. "Just in case you do decide you want a break from that friend." It was the least she could do, after all.
Olivia chuckled at Vince's quip, while Leo himself appeared thoroughly amused. With a snort he nodded in agreement with Lia, momentarily forgetting that he was supposed to be 'reading' her sign language. "I certainly didn't. Good on you, Vince!" He gave the duo a two-fingered salute, his spirits now thoroughly lifted, and once the two were gone Olivia walked with Vince back to their items. "So, you wanna tell me what's up?" she spoke up, while she was bent over putting her items back into her bag. "Regarding Leo and Lia, I mean," she clarified. "You don't seem too happy to have them with us." It wasn't as if she hadn't noticed his hesitance in having the twins join them, but he hadn't made it out to be that he, absolutely, didn't want them around, and the fact that she'd seen him, literally, relax once the two were gone had only confirmed her suspicions.
Once their bags were packed and they had everything together they made their way to the Pokémon Center, where, to Olivia's surprise, Elgyem awaited them. "Have you been here the entire time?" she asked, eyebrow raised. The psychic type shook her head, though it wasn't long before her attention was drawn to Vince for a few seconds. 'I've been here approximately ten minutes,' she finally spoke. 'I was taking care of the pokemon you caught earlier,' she gave as an answer to the question Olivia had mentally posed to ask. Olivia left it alone from there, and followed Vince up to their room. "I'm surprised you didn't ask for two different rooms," she teased as she dropped her bag onto one of the beds, digging through her available clothes before she grabbed a pair.
"Thanks." Change of clothes in hand, Olivia headed off into the bathroom to start her shower. She was sure to keep it short, after all Vince was going in right after her, and once done she wrung her bathing suit out of any excess salt water. As eager as she was to give up the bathroom to her companion, Olivia couldn't help but to stop and play with her hair a few minutes in front of the mirror. She wanted to do something different with it, but wasn't quite sure what to do. Eventually decided she'd just add a few accessories in, which were in her bag, Olivia stepped back out and walked directly to her bag. "All yours," she offered up, already digging through the smaller section of her bag.
