Mairin
The big blue's refusal to be bullied made Mairin grin, she didn't care about colour politics she just didn't like seeing anyone get bullied. Which wasn't to say that they shouldn't be bossed about, when the blue from before had been told to get over himself and choose his by the elephant bronze she'd approved of that. There was difference in her mind between someone needing to take control of a situation and someone throwing their weight around just because they thought they could.
For the first time in her life Mairin honestly wished she wasn't herself. If she were a boy the two dragonets she'd found interesting so far , well aside from the first green, would be a possibility but being a girl she just have to chew it raw and swallow, the bronzes would impress to boys. The adrenaline in her system seem to have worn off and she was feeling a bit exhausted and emotionally worn even though it hadn't really been that long. Mairin had to admit that while this was fun and exciting she wasn't very good at this being a candidate business. She handled the chores just fine and she paid attention in lessons but when it'd come time for the hatching itself she was finding herself fiddling with the end of her braid and actively hoping that the brown headed toward the group of girls didn't want her.
Oh! It looked like it didn't, Mairin didn't know much about the girl he seemed to have chosen but she hoped she could handle him.

Ashlyn
Ashlyn had been admiring the blue, when she saw the honey badger brown almost run into the blue. She held her breath as she thought there was going to be another near fight, something that she did not want to see happen at all. She watched as the blue dragon seemed to just stand there, not backing down, but not trying to fight the other either. She watched the brown dragon walk off and head for the girls. She had to say, she admired the blue, that took quite a bit to just stand there and not try anything.
Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw the grumpy brown impress to one of the girls and she smiled. Then she turned back to the other dragons, waiting to see who was picked next. She took a calming breath, trying to tell herself that everything was going to be alright.

Alara ( towards Kieza and Nyxbath,)
Lypith's stomach was not full but she had grown bored of eating and slowly but surely others were gathering at the feeding table. Now was a good a time as any to get up close and personal with her clutchmates, she needed to know so much more about them than she already did.
With a cheery bugle she leapt away from Alara and trotted toward Nyxbath
Nyxbath, you must tell me all about yours, where did she come from, does she have clutchmates too, why is she so tall, what if she outgrows you? Lypith's tail swayed behind her like an excited canines' as she bespoke her green sister. This barrage was just the first of oh so many question she needed to ask.
Alara stared after her dragon and with a small smile put the piece of meat she'd been holding back into bowl before her for now, waling her slightly grimy hands on her candiates robes. It didn't matter if they were stained with blood now she didn't need them anymore and it would likely wash out anyways.
The young woman sent an amused glance in the direction of her fellow greenrider.

At first, the young dragon was taken aback, but almost like a puppy coming in contact with another, her dismay and discomfort disappearing as she realized it was a nicer and happier sister who directed their attention at Nyxbath. The little green leapt at Lipith in her delight, her wobbling wings fluttering. Oh, Mine is lovely and sweet and caring. Nyxbath is all Hers and She is all Mine! The green hatchling dripped with pride at her bonded rider, her eyes glowing a bright hue of green, showing her delight. If there was one thing to be said about Nyxbath, it was that she would not be a placid creature, and would fawn and dote over her rider.
Kieza felt a mirthful bubble of laughter leave her lips as the dragonet left her side in a few swift leaps across the sands, showering her legs with grains. "Silly creature..." She murmured, following after the pale dragon. Nyxbath swiveled her long neck back to peer at Kieza. Not silly, Mine. I adore you, Mine, and I will let everyone know it! At this, the green bugled loudly, creening her love to everyone who had ears to hear with. The Candidate-turned-weyrling ran over and grabbed the dragonet's muzzle, clamping it shut. "Shh!" She whispered harshly, her face turning scarlet in her embarrassment, eyes darting around to see who would look down on the behavior. Looking at Alara, she bowed her head apologetically.
Nyxbath was beside herself. Her Kieza was stopping her! It took the dragonet a moment to process the turmoil that was Kieza's current emotions and thoughts before she stopped fighting against the hands gripping her muzzle. Her eyes flashed pale yellow, concerned at the discomfort she had just caused her Rider. When Kieza removed her hands, Nyxbath reared herself and nudged her head lightly against Kieza's. Oh, forgive me, Mine! Nyxbath would never mean to make you sad. Tell this terrible dragon what she can do to make it better? The dragonet crooned sadly, her error clear on her face, and her apology even more clear. Kieza couldn't help but smile and laugh, "Hush! I could never be mad or sad about anything you do, my dear Nyxbath. You make me happy beyond words. Just calm down!" She urged, her teeth bared as she hissed softly.
Nyxbath, at these words, sat down with a thump on the sands in front of Kieza. Calm! Her head swiveled around to look at Lipith. Calm is good, yes?

Mei
Alright. Mei would admit it. Seeing the Honey Badger Brown go to another girl was a bit heart breaking, the pain of it showing just a touch too plainly on her face before she quickly put on a stiff upper lip. That was fine. It'd all be fine. There were still plenty of dragons, she'd tell herself. The frisky, flashy brown was still prowling the sands, along with that dark, impressively sized blue. On top of that, there might even be a few more greens to hatch; all of those being the typical prospects for a female candidate.
There was also the gold egg, but Mei hadn't considered that to be an option. She'd even opted not to touch the egg at the hatching. Not that there had been anything wrong with the egg.. but… Well, it was pressure enough touching the other eggs on the sands.
Hennory
Oh.. tough luck. Hennory frowned sympathetically as he saw the raw disappointment on his friend's face. So far, many of the candidates he considered to be more or less a friend was still on the sands. Mei was quickly pulling it together, her lips forming that thin line that she often get to hide her frustration or pain. Mairin quite admittedly, looked a little tired, and strangely relieved when the brown didn't head her way. He could understand the sentiment, being tired, that was. His tender feet burned unpleasantly, though would briefly be forgotten whenever hope blossomed in his heart at the appearance of a new dragon, or when one perhaps seemed to be moving more in his direction.
His gaze drifted towards the sea crafter boy, who was obviously eyeing the two bronzes on the sands with his typical unwavering confidence. Hennory sometimes wished he could be so sure of things, instead of constantly over thinking and questioning every little thing. Still, as it was, he couldn't really change himself and his penchant for the introspective.

Ameleia watched the dragons quiet, eyes wide with curiosity, about what it was that they were going to do next. One of the Browns, the same one that faced off with the hissy blue earlier, seemed to be in another stand off with yet another Blue. It seemed the bigger Blue wasn't having it though. The pair starred each other down for a while before the Brown seemed to give up, trotting off away from his many brothers and off toward the Candidates instead... and a moment after his approach it seemed as though he'd made his choice. That was good, maybe if the more aggressive boys were paired off and left the sands there would be less of a chance for any sort of attacks like what happened during the last hatching. The last thing she wanted to see were any of the dragons or any of the Candidates get hurt like they had been before.
Shaking her to clear that thought she went back to watching the dragons as they moved around the sands as well as the eggs. Seemed like they were starting to get closer and closer to the end as there were fewer eggs left then there were those who had already hatched. Due to this fact it seemed that the excitement and hopeful feelings were getting stronger in the air. It was as though the world was holding its collective breath as the dragons made their picks and the Candidates became an integral part of the Weyr alongside their dragon partners. It was something she was hoping to become a part of and as such didn't take her eyes off what was happening before her.

"Friendly bunch!" Jakkin joked aloud, shaking his head. The dragons seemed more focused on each other, rather than finding their riders, or so it appeared. He smirked at the bronze's antics. He wondered if Zoe--or was it Zofer would impress the bronze--or maybe that sullen boy--what was his name? Fredrich? Fletcher? Floyd? No, he was sure that wasn't it. Jakkin had never cared to collect names and put them to faces, unless the person was particularly useful.
Or relatively important to him. Since Ezven had already impressed, he scooted his way towards Zofer instead. "Hey, Zoe!" he said, grinning up at the older boy. "Think any of these are for you?"
He made a face in Hennory's direction.

With the brown having departed their company, it seemed another was now eligible to join their ranks. The small and bright Lilac-Breasted Roller egg soon began to hop and jostle as a clearly energetic hatchling attempted to make their way out. The gold egg that it slowly shifted away from with it's energetic pursuits was as silent as ever, whilst most of the remaining eggs would give an occasional twitch. It might not be the only one to be not moving, but it was the one most uneasily acknowledged to be that way.
The multi-coloured egg however was definitely moving, bits of egg began to chip away and a high chirrup could be heard from within the egg. A particularly large fragment cracked away and fell to the sand. Only a moment later a green nose poked out of the space, once again letting out it soft, questioning, sound. Pushing against the egg with her head, the green soon caused the shell to relent and spill her out onto the sands. Fortunately she managed to muster the balance to save herself from falling and the cavern could get a good look at her as she steadied herself.
Just as bright as her egg, the green was all elegant lines. As the green began to look around her it was clear that she would grow into a beautiful adult. Not a part of her was out of scale with the rest. No ungainly long legs or stubby short wings. Lilac-Breasted Roller had emerged as the ideal for a hatchling. Drawing many admiring eyes from the stands.
And from the sands too it would seem. Serval had been distracted from his showing off when gazes had begun to turn from him, having rapidly gotten back to his focus of posing after his rude brother had attempted to knock him down. What ridiculous thing were that rabble getting up to now that he should be ignored? The bronze turned his head and irritation was instantly replaced with something else. Pivoting away from the candidates he had found someone new to posture at and he wasted no time getting to it. It seemed that for this bronze, charming the greens outclassed charming the candidates.

Hennory
Hennory wrinkled his nose a touch in confusion as Jakkin shot him a look, one that was halfway between something rude and teasing. He'd never went out of his way to talk to the lad, but then again, one really didn't have to. His loud mouth and even louder opinions had become a little infamous in the candidate's barracks. What was that look for? A moment of contemplation brought Hennory to the assumption that this was just how the boy usually acted.
Not allowing himself to be riled, he merely arched a fine brow and made a gentile gesture with a nod of his head, throwing an easy smile meant to be charming, but perhaps came off as slightly more amused than anything. He -did- of course, look away from the boy and Zofer and back to the baby dragons roaming the sands. Really, he hadn't exactly meant to stare in the first place. Maybe that was why he'd been given that look in the first place. Whoops.
Oh, he'd looked towards the sands just in time, because a green made her presence known on the sands, and she was pretty, so pretty in fact that the showy bronze saw it fit to pose for her. Hennory arched a brow, smirking in the direction of the two undeniably attractive baby dragons. The green was darling, but he wondered momentarily if she was as vain as her bronze brother. If she wasn't, she'd probably learn quickly from his efforts.
All the same, he still watched both the new green and the remaining dragonets eagerly for any sign that they may be coming towards him.
Mei
The young woman huffed, pushing her hair out of her face as the stuff crackled around her head. It was drying from the heat of the sands, and quickly becoming quite the pest. That turn of events made her realize that the hatchlings were definitely taking their sweet time choosing, seeming to prefer meandering on the sands amongst themselves than choosing. Their lack of concern directly contradicted her own eagerness to either Impress, or at the very least, have it all over with. The 'will I? won't I?' of the situation was steadily wearing at her nerves.
At least a new egg was hatching, the excitement of another dragonet unveiling themselves relieving her of her anxiety at least for a small amount of time. It was pretty and flashy, gaining the attention of the flashy bronze. It seemed clear that those two weren't choosing any time soon, so Mei's gaze drifted instead to the remaining brown and large bronze and the foreboding blue, monitoring them for movement instead.

Ashlyn
Ashlyn had still been watching the big blue, when she saw one of the other eggs moving out of the corner of her eye. She turned her head to look and saw a little green head poking out. She watched the dragon come out and thought how pretty she was. She wasn't the only one admiring the other, it would seem, as the showy bronze began to focus on her. She rolled her eyes, thinking that bronze needed to learn...well, something.
She turned her head to see how the others were getting on, knowing there were still quite a few dragons unmatched. She hoped very much they would all find their riders. She wondered if her own dragon was among this clutch, whether one of the ones out on the sand or one still in its egg. She hoped so, but she knew it was not for her to decide.

As the brightly colored egg started to move in a very energetic manner Ameleia turned to watch as it bounced around. It took but a moment before a brightly colored green nose came into view, causing her to give a little giggle, "She is too cute." She said to herself, watching as the Green continued with the task that was breaking free of the egg shell and when she was free of it the blond girl couldn't help but to gasp in surprise and awe, "Wow!" How lovely this one was she thought to herself, quite impressed with how beautiful all of the babies were from this clutch thus far. Some of them seeming to know about their beauty more then others she thought to herself when the Bronze seemed to balk against the fact that he wasn't the one getting all of the attention and compliments at the moment.
Turning to look over at him she couldn't help but to laugh a little more, a sound she tried to smother by lifting her hands to cover her mouth. She didn't want to seem as though she were laughing at him, she just thought it was cute the way that he was trying to get all eyes back on him. Poor thing, it seemed as though he were a little jealous of his sister. Well, at least they would be interested in very different Candidates she thought to herself, so at least there wasn't any worry about the two beautiful babies scuffling over that matter.

T'rel came up behind Cesa, throwing an arm around her shoulders. He glanced towards the female candidates, smirking. "I don't fancy working with that bunch," he said. "From this side, they look like they've had a spat. But maybe if I move--" and with that, he removed his arm and moved to Cesa's otherside. He resumed his position, arm over the greenrider's shoulders, and leaning forward to get a better glance. "No, they don't look any more pleasant from this side."
He wrinkled his nose. "Thank all things between Ticene's going to be the one dealing with that one," he gestured to the gold egg. "I can't imagine the struggles she'll go through." Despite his words, like the rest of Ista's riders, T'rel was feeling particularly good that day. It was a good omen, a gold in the clutch. They hadn't had a gold egg since Calith's--at least, that he could remember. It was about time they had another gold they could truly call their own. An Istan gold! "Bronze seems rather confident," he observed with a grin. "Always a good sign. I wonder if he'll get his head stuck in a bucket like Gereth did. After all--" he glanced up to the heights with his words, and lowered his voice, "he must have some similarities with his sire."
The man paused, returning his gaze to the sands. "Cesa, I'm starved. I was so involved in my tuning that I forgot to take a moment to raid the kitchens of pies. Or anything particularly edible. Ever since the kitchens gained that new apprentice, I've had to be wary. Tried serving me tubers! And her pies--the edges were burnt! Completely inedible, Cesa. I don't know why you couldn't teach her how to make them properly."
