Kai Blightwater

User Image

Kai hissed at the feeling of the venom on his skin. It felt horrible, but he was sure otehrs had felt the sting as well. The warrior had to no to think about if his hands would fall off, or if his bones would corrode, or other pontential effects of the poison, however. He twisted and dodged, moving around the horrid claws of the creature. The Were Croc grimaced. If the poison was stining and unbearable now, it was going to feel like hell in a moment. In a desperate move, Kai attempted to drive both claws into the chest creature, and rip a whole in its chest. He lunged at the Plauge soldier with all of his might, and if he hit, the strain of rending flesh, even with his claws, would be ghastly.

((Sorry Dotty, I'm not sure what happened... maybe I was being a ditz and hit preview instead of submit >_>;; Either way, here's hte wrap up so you and Hero can get back in the action!))

In such close quarters, pinned between Darius and Kai, the wounded plague soldier had but one option - strike back. Kai charge relentlessly, and the monster was ready, initially. As Kai went low, the monster's claws racked against the were-croc's back. Kai would feel the burn as the venom from its own bloody talons searched for opening in his attire, but the beast was about to feel much, much worse.

The sound was sickening, and the sensation of meat, organ and tissue passing between Kai's clawed fingers would be both nauseating and exhilarating to the were-beast. His momentum forward was great, and his claws were sharp. They dug to the back of the creature's ribs; feeling the alarming jagged nature of the creature's vertebrae.

The monster did not fight from there. It's meat tensed violently around Kai's submerged hands, it twitched and managed a single shrieking sound as it fell limp, forward onto the young swordsman who had slain it with his bare hands.

To the Devil's Eye Knight and his pupil, the sounds of battle would have fallen quiet... There were only cries now, muted in the streets and fields. Triwind's people were collecting their dead, and not far from them their Lord was surveying the damage as another dark haired figure, once-Lord of the Citadel, departed.

Krayth narrowed his eyes as the Lord of The Citadel turned away from his work. Buildings had been mended, but suddenly it seemed that the man was departing.. without a word of farewell. Not a word at all. Suspicion stayed with the Anima. The Lord was peculiar, and he could not dismiss his connection to Grix, even with the aid the Reaper had given, the God of Chaos is a wild and unpredictable deity. His acolyte most likely were the same.

As The Lord of The Devil's Eye rose to stop Noctis from going, he became aware of an uprising of howls. Like wild animals in pain - no, people. He turned and looked in towards the city; his eyes caught the figure of Darius as he seized the weapon of the last plague soldier standing, and his apt pupil rent the beast through the chest. Satisfaction flickered on Krayth's face, but it didn't linger. His mind was seized by a voice.

"LORD VALDIIR! MY LORD! MY LORD!"

The Anima spun on the balls of his feet. Beyruun's mass whipped out, forging itself into a spear. The man that ran towards him from the town was one of few familiar faces. One of the guards from before that had sworn to assist Triwind's injured and dying. The mask that normally concealed their features was gone, and the expression on the protector's face wasn't what he expected. It showed no terror. Grief and anguish drowned all of the man's features. He seemed on the verge of weeping.. and that alarmed Krayth.

"Speak. What--"

"My Lord... our Lady -your Lady..."

The breath entering The Anima's lungs froze in place. His heart stopped, and suddenly the fatigue of the day was washed away. Replaced by something primal that propelled him forward without further discussion. He was dimly aware of the guard shouting his name after him as he sprinted into the Town. Charging past Darius and Kai without a word. His eyes scoured the dead, the injured, the buildings -searching but his pace never slowed. He could feel the fire burning in his legs, but that didn't matter. The screams. He kept running towards the screams, and they only grew louder. A crowd of townspeople wailing, clutching their faces and swaying back and forth like a funerary march. It was not possible. It could not be...

The Lord of The Devil's Eye forced his way through the crowd without restraint. Men and women were tossed and tumbled aside as he rushed into the heart of the mob whispering prayers... one voice cut him like a knife.

"Dra'Salar, Mother Serpent, cradle her soul in the cool of--"

The woman made it no further. She was in the way. His left hand struck her with an open palm, inciting a yelp of pain as he shoved her to the side by her face. They say that witnessing the loss of something beloved causes time to slow - that mortal perception saturates every sense in the attempt to invalidate the terrible truth unfolding in the iris. Krayth witnessed nothing. Time was the span of his booming, racing heartbeat.

He broke into the center of the mob and found a body wrapped in the arms of two bawling elderly women, cupping an unmistakably beautiful face. They looked up at Krayth. Their mouths moved, and noise come out. Noise, all around him but at its center was silence... his silence, and Her silence, and Death's silence.

The Lady of The Devil's Eye Desert, the hope and celebration of her people and all Krayth coveted in life, lay quiet on the stones. Her eyes were half open, as if waking from a dream; her unforgettably soft lips were parted to draw breath. Her body was plugged with arrows. Her glistening blue scales mangled by the barbs of poison vines, revealing the tender pinkness of her flesh below... and her core torn open by the blade of some knife, innards peaking up at him from between the slender curve of her hips. A hole where the gentle curve of her belly had been, where he used to rest his head.

Krayth had no words. No breath. No pulse... Beyruun slipped from his limp fingers, and even she was silent. There was pressure building in his mouth and muscles. There was a creak of bones in his body. He had seen this before, in the painted fiction of dreams... a nightmare. But there, he had killed her. He had killed her.

The Lord of The Devil's Eye extended his right arm, his eyes did not see the the blood dripping from his palm that coated his nails. His brain did not sense the tremors in his fingers. He reached out to her, and found he could not speak. He could not open his mouth. There was a nauseating crack, as his molars split from the pressure of his clenched jaw. The pain sheared through him at the same time as the memories of an old friend unleashed a revelation.

Azur's death looked just like many others... the work of Besrim Halgar.

It was almost like drowning. The copper stink of his blood filled his mouth, and Krayth watched the world rise over him as he fell to his knees.

--------------------------------------------"You think you can escape me.."-------------------------------------------

Blood moved quickly through the crowds of people moving away from the town of Triwinds. She needed to find the Lord of the nation, and her soul sense said he was in this direction. She soon moved into a small alley and quickly climbed up onto the roof of a semi-broken building. "what the hell happened here....." Blood mumbled as she looked around at everyone's soul in the area. So far the large more powerful souls were near the outskirts of the other side of town. But the lords soul was mixed in between a whole lot of smaller souls that all showed the color of grief and sadness, but the lords soul was drowned in sorrow and despair.

Blood sat there for a moment taking in all of the sorrow before finally shaking her head and clearing her mind. She then quickly moved across the roof of the building and jumped onto the next one effortlessly making her way by rooftop towards the lords location. The only thoughts flowing through her mind was of her next assignment, but it was soon drowned out as she got closer to Krayth and the group of people. Finally she stopped on the roof of a small home right across from the group of people, she could clearly see Krayth, and he could most likely see her. "Lady Azur... no wonder there is so much sorrow here.." Blood mumbled to herself as she looked around the area then off towards where some people were calling Krayths name and noticed a woman on a dragon and a few others. Blood had no clue what to feel at the moment, but keeping herself calm right now was key in this situation, so she just stood there on the roof looking at Krayth while thinking about what to do next.

Blood spattered from Krayth's mouth as he struggled to breath; to speak. Sounds came from his lips, but they were quiet and incoherent. Thoughts not fully processed. On his knees, the Lord of the Devil's Eye stared at his mate through a veil of tears. He slumped forward, his outstretched bleeding palm and fingers extending to rest on the slick and slender scales of Azur's prostrate calf. Her flesh that was so comfortingly cool was now cold. The unmistakable feeling of a lifeless corpse. He ran his fingers down to her foot, and squeezed it tightly. The first coherent words to come out of his mouth could not have been smaller.

"Get up."

The Anima was living his nightmare, but his mind groped for the logic of reality. He had been so close to her... his knights, Liliana... how could no one have seen this? Where was the priest? Where was he? How could he not have seen this. How could he not have heard her... He clenched his jaw, and the fire of ripped nerves in his fractured teeth caused his vision to blur. His head swam in a miasma of agony that separated his consciousness from his body. His head sank forward, and came to rest on Azur's cold, lifeless legs. She still smelled like her... death had yet to creep into her scent, but his eyes did not betray him. Her soul was gone. The air around her, once scintillating with her vivacity and power, was quiet.

"Azur."

He whimpered her name, barely audible. There were hands on him now; not attempting to raise him, but trying to support him and hold him. He did not notice. He didn't hear the voices. Krayth could only think of Her smile; her words; his promise... a promise now broken. The shaman of the dunes had said they would have children... his prophecies made the Anima's heart swell with hope, and love, and joy for a life that he had never known but would finally have after so much suffering and struggle. To be loved and live in love... to hold a life in his hands that would grow to continue Azur's reign of peace and prosperity. All that was gone now. The life he had; the life -she- had was now as small and meaningless as a grain of sand.

In that absence of hope, Besrim Halgar's words hissed up from his collective memories.

"Isn't it marvelous? The work I do. The purity of it. To murder the whore that gave you life; that poisoned this world with your creation... I feel cleansed. I feel righteous. The Gods have blessed me with their charge, and it is the eradication of your kind, and all abominations of humanity!"

The Gods had charged him... his work was virtuous. His rampage of torture and murder was vindicated by the Divine. And from it came nothing but Chaos.... chaos, like the destruction of Triwinds; the work of Ivy; the nightmare that deceived him; that lead him to lower his guard so that his beloved would pay the price.

Grix.

As Krayth remained on the ground, clutching his beloved, surrounded by his subjects who in turn clutched him, The Anima felt something. Not love for his people. Not gratitude for their support, and the brief life of peace he had been blessed with... it was intimately familiar. The feeling that overcame him when he saw his mother strung up to that tree; her carved flesh and bowels dripping down the bark to puddle on the grass below. The hunger that drove him to commit his soul to The Void.

Besrim was right. Krayth had always been a monster.

Now, he had no reason to hide it.

Blood watched as Krayth stood there surrounded by his people who were trying to comfort him. That is until she noticed the man beside Krayth pulling something from his belt. At that point Blood jumped off of the building she was on and rolled once she hit the ground. Then once on her feet she began to push her way through the crowd of people. "Move! move out of the way!" Blood said as she pushed her way through people, but none of them seemed to hear her words.

The man who had pulled something from his belt was holding a knife, and from the angle he was at he could easily stab it through Krayths throat. Blood started to quicken her pace through the crowd as the man lifted the knife up ready to strike Krayth from behind. But as a shriek of terror from a woman beside the man with a knife sounded off right behind Krayth, Blood pushed through one last person then extended her hidden blade and stabbed it through the mans throat. The man stabbed Blood through the shoulder blade with his knife using his last amount of strength, it was a blow that was supposed to kill the Lord, But Blood had managed to stop it.

"No one kills my King while i'm still alive..." Blood hissed to the man right as he took his last breath before dying. Blood then expertly used her hand to shove the limp body off of her blade and onto the ground. She then retracted her blade and turned to Krayth. "My Lord it is not safe here.... I advise that you move to another location with the body of lady Azur before another person attempts to take your life." Blood told him in a more serious tone seeing as now was not a time to be sadistic.

Even at the distance she was from all the energy spots, bile rose in her throat from the overwhelming emotions in the city now. Quietly moving to be behind a fallen building, she was soundly sick all over the ground. She could hear their thoughts. Azur was dead. She kept seeing the sliced open body in their minds and wondered if it was from her she rescued the still developing soul. Her mind ventured back to Ernya where it was secluded away so it could fully develop. Liliana straightened up, unsure if she should tell Krayth about what she had done. But her indecision was quickly silenced when she caught the thoughts from the Anima himself. He sought blood. And while she hated violence for violence, she did not begrudge him these thoughts. She knew she could, and would, split the earth itself should anyone every harm her and her own. Making her way over, Liliana let her aura show to open a path to the Bloodied King. "Lord Krayth of the Devil's Sands, rise and collect the blood debt owed you in Jiaum," she said clearly in a tone she reserved for making official vision announcements. Power rang in her words as her aura danced around her while she held out a hand to Krayth.

Krayth made no attempt to rise. Not initially. The storm of emotion in his mind railed against his will, but the rage he felt was overpowering. It consumed him; honing that maelstrom into a singular edge. Around him, he could hear the shadows whisper... and then he could hear something else. Screams. Not from The Dark Plane, but from around him. Something warm and wet spilled on the back of his neck. The Lord opened his eyes; turning to slowly regard the scene unfolded scene. A would be assassin, bested by... the recognition was instant. He did not need to knwo her, her name, or her past. She was a sister of the night. A Dark Avenger, like him. Typically, this revelation would be a surprise to Krayth, for he'd never met another of his kind... but his attention was focused elsewhere. To the glazed eyes and mouth agape of the man that attempted to take his life.

The Anima stared down at the man's corpse. His presence and purpose fit neatly into the puzzle that was already solved. The Gods hated him. Humans, the self righteous acolytes of Rykros and all his children, hated him... first, they had taken his father. Then, his mother. Now Azur, and while he grieved at her feet, they attempted to end him.

He looked up. Around. The people of Triwinds's soul auras created a wall of shimmering blue and yellow around him. So much grief; shock at the late assassin's bold attempt acted out in the open... in the other Dark Avenger was determination and satisfaction, muddled with her own muted tones of sorrow... but there were others that stood out amongst the grieving crowd. Their souls betrayed the false faces of grief they wore... he could not read their minds, but it was grim pleasure that tinted their being. One of the elderly at his feet, cradling his dead beloved was painted pink and red... and as he stared down at her she tried to mask the faint stretch of a smile on her face. Krayth looked away, to the sound of his Dark Sister's voice. His response was simple.

"Not yet. There is work to be done."

The Lord of The Devil's Eye kneeled, retrieved Beyruun from the ground, and as he moved towards Azur's corpse he was halted by another voice; one that was familiar. Liliana had returned, and as he glanced at her he noted the location of Triwind's three remaining guards in the crowd. They were as many others; their souls testified to their loyalty and grief. He did not respond to the Seer's words. Instead, without a word the Anima strode to the deviant who clutched his lover's corpse. The crowd had started to push in. Their Lord held no blow back; knocking those in his way to the side without a glance or care.

The hag in front of him saw the look in his eyes, and opened her mouth to speak. Her attempt at words transformed to shrieks as Krayth buried his free hand's fingers down into her hair and clawing into her scalp. He pulled her head backwards to the point that her shrieks became muffled groans in the struggle to breath. Triwind's residents were moving back now, and gasps sounded out among the crowd. Then he pulled her up to standing, and as his eyes looked out among the mob she shrieked again.

"Release me, Lord! Oh, have mercy! What have I done?? What have I--"

Krayth's left knee drove up unto her stomach, and the sound of brittle ribs breaking could be barely heard above the din of the masses. The Lord's words came cold and commanding, and he glared directly into the eyes of his fellow Dark Avenger, and the guards. He pointed with Beyruun, from one villager to the next - a number of which had realized it would be wise to flee... but they would not get far. Three in total, excluding the now whimpering woman handing limp in Krayth's other hand.

"Seize them. Bind them. The rest of you, gather the dead. All of them, but your Lady... Drag them to the fields with me. NOW!"

Many of the townspeople stood aghast, frozen in place. Beyruun grew out in his hand; its glaived head coming mere inches from the ring of the crowd.

"NOW, OR JOIN THESE TRAITORS!"

The Guards were already acting. While they had no answers to their many questions, it was not their place to disobey... they did not understand the powers vested in their Lord, but knew how they'd been wielded. The execution of the Blood Barons was enough to earn their loyalty.

Krayth turned, dragging the old witch in his hand along the stone of the street. Between her rasping breath came quiet laughter. Her fingers clawed at the stones in some feeble attempt to keep her in place. Those in his way gave him wide birth. His chin was stained in a fresh current of his own dripping blood, and there was no light in his eyes. It was time for a ritual. To call upon The Void. He would give his Master what it wanted, and it would give him the means to do it.

His eyes connected with Liliana's. He made no attempt to speak to her. It was to his Dark Sister that he spoke.

"Honor your Lord, and your Oath... Today, we pay tribute to The Dark."

Liliana couldn't look away from Krayth, as he stood before her and what was within his mind. She knew he was someone who chose this path but what was to come next... It wasn't what she liked about them. But the back of her mind nagged her about everything she had put another through. Her own emotions warring with each other through the noise and waves from everyone around her left her without her own council. Until one thing broke through: curiosity. It gave her a direction and she followed it, using the minds of others to have Air collect up the dead bodies. She fought the urge to use Earth to bury Azur since she was sure it was something Krayth wished to do himself. Fire played in to burn away remain poisons so no one else could be infected with their deadly taint. And as Krayth moved to where he was going, Liliana followed with scores of dead floating behind her on various winds.

Blood Nodded to Krayth as his first order was given. She quickly moved to one of the designated people Krayth had pointed out. Once close she pulled the knife the man had stabbed her with out of her shoulder and wielded it in her right hand. She then tackled the man to the ground and held the knife to his throat. "your coming with me now... struggle and ill paint the earth with your pretty crimson blood." Blood told the man in a sadistic tone as she lifted him from the ground then forced him to start walking after Krayth.

Blood fallowed behind Krayth closely after hearing his last words to her. They were going to pay tribute to the thing that Blood knew little about since she pledged her oath to it. Blood kept her prisoner in check as the Guards followed closely behind her. She didn't dare to speak a word, but she could clearly see that all of the citizens around her were scared of her. Hell, she would be scared of herself if she could see what she's done. But to them she was both a hero and a threat, and she wouldn't have it any other way. Ever since she was little she wanted to know what it was like to be both feared and praised, and now she knew, yet why did she still feel like a monster?

"When your hands are tied, and your back against the wall..."

《《《《《《《《 =========== 》》》》》》》》

Darius watched in silent solace as his student, Kai, slayed the last of the abominations. However, his sudden comfort was soon taken away and replaced by the burning pain of the poison. He'd been infected when he'd saved Kai from the knight's dreadful blade, and was now suffering the consequences. He needed a doctor, or priest, and soon. Struggling to his feet, Darius began to look around for someone who could help him and Kai, but his attention was soon stolen by Krayth as he dashed by them. Time seemed to slow as Darius saw the distress in his Lord's eyes. Sorrow, hopeful sorrow. Darius's eyes followed Krayth's person as he dashed towards a group of civilians. Darius had never seen his Lord so... in pain. Curiosity began to build inside him, or at least until he put two and two together. The crowd, Krayth's sorrowful distress... where was Lady Azur? Darius suddenly became encompassed by grief as he quickly followed in Krayth's footsteps.
As he moved through the crowd, Darius became overwhelmed with guilt. THe body... the one everyone was fussing about. Lady Azur... she was dead. Darius couldn't help but feel guilty for such a heinous result. He had been tasked... by Krayth, to protect Azur with his life.
"I.... I've failed'er..." The words came from Darius breathlessly. Why... Why did it have to be her? Why? Darius looked to Krayth as he sit there grieving. But suddenly, Darius became deluged with confusion as a man was suddenly killed. His warm blood managing to fall upon the side of Darius' face. Turning his head slightly, he saw one of the students from Andalusia. Looking back to Krayth as he quickly stood, and negan to have the guard hunt down citizens didn't help with his confusion. And then another voice, one familiar, Lady Liliana's appeared. Looking towards her, then back to Krayth, Darius was lost. He was dropped into a pit of lunacy and melancholy shame. He had no idea of what to do anymore. And then the burning sensation returned. The poison was getting worse the longer it swamped in his veins. The pain was enough to cause Darius to lose his balance and fall backwards into a sitting position. He clutched the wound on his hands as he tightened his jaw.
