*will gets 1s on style* :p I still don't think it should be up there. I'm gonna keep protesting that. It's too subjective while good interaction. For rank categories, I'd just go for "easy to work with", "product quality", and "reliability". I'm still against a rating system that isn't postive comment and negative comment (again, like e-bay). Artists should be able to esimate their own speed. It can be listed in profile. That gives more information than just ranking 'speed' by stars. Because while I consider 1 month a short wait, someone else might hate it. LIke, it'd be cool if the database and profiles. like: name - woefulinfinity site - http://fongmingyun.deviantart.comspecialty - fantasy and traditional media experience - drawing for ten years, private lessons for three, classes at UPenn, UArts, and Moore College. real money - yes art trade - yes average wait time - 2 months contact - fongmingyun@gmail.com comments - yadda yadda, list here things that you might want to make optional: age, sex, location, interests Again, I wouldn't mind joining summat like this as long as dedicated commissioners have their own version. So I can see if they're actually going to pay me.

Oh yes yes, absolutely ranking commissioners and artists. Also, I agree 100% that style shouldn't be up there, but the only way to really prevent it from being factored in with other rankings is to give it a space on it's own. Product quality ... I'm not so sure on it being necessary, but it can be included, sure. For commissioners, I think we could have... easy to work with, reliability, and um... hmm... Interesting requests? I dunno. That's the same as ranking style I suppose. For things other than the comments and the stars, I think everything can be handled pretty easily by just allowing an "About Yourself" text field. The artist can enter in whatever the hell they want into it, so we don't need to restrict them to specific forms like "website" or "shop" or "price". They can just include whatever they want. Oh, WoefulInfinity I'm still against a rating system that isn't postive comment and negative comment (again, like e-bay). eBay has both though, doesn't it? Star ratings out of five and the chance to leave positive/negative comments for others? I thought it did at least. Having both seems like the best solution to me, but..

Muhr. I don't think making a separate category for style is going to help it. Espcially if it factors into anothe r"overall" category.
WEll, with product quality, I meant, like, comparing the work you got with the artist's other work. Like, to make sur they didn't blow off your pic in particular (lord knows I do it, though).
Yeah. that is the same, I feel. Maybe... like, exactness of requets? because, some people like it when their commissioners are really detailed, ahave a lot of ref pics, and already have pose ideas. While some are like "I can work from a paragraph on how s/he looks.
Hmm, probably, yeah. with the About Yourself.... I would think that'd be for the extra stuff like age/experience/location.... But lordy knows I'm lazy and wouldn't do anything unless it was delineated for me like that. (I think the site, whether they take trades/RL commissions, contact, and wait time is important enough to merit their own categories).
I don't know. I've never used ebay. I've only wantdered around it a couple times.

I don't think style should matter, unless you commissioned a certain style and they completly did something else.

Question -
I've come into some money here, so I've been looking for artists to commission, but it's a pain wading through the RnC sometimes and I don't think I have enough money to bid in an auction, or at least, I don't want to bid and then keep losing to others who have more (I have about 65K to spend right now, having just commissioned someone - I'm hoping to add more to that soon between my upcoming auction and various contests I'm wanting to enter). Have any of you guys set up an art quest thread for yourselves? And do you find you have better success doing it that way, letting artists come to you than always seeking them out? And how do you nicely reject an artist if they offer their services, but it's not quite what you're wanting to spend your gold on? How do you do it without coming off as a snob and butthead? I do want people to draw for me, but I don't want to commission just anyone.
Yeah, a friend gave me a generous donation so I wouldn't be poor anymore. lol. So I've set up my art-whore fund, my contest fund, and my clothing fund (gotta love mule accounts). I'm trying to evenly divide up the money I get between those.

Well, for rejection, I usually just say that it's not the style I'm looking for since, well... a) usually it isn't (forthelasttimeidon'twantbigeyeshojo...!) and b) it's better than saying "you're not skilled enough".
For me, request threads haven't really worked in getting really good commissions that i like - most artists I like, I contact individually for art trade or stalk auctions. Then again, I don't pump my request thread as well as, like, Raesha or Noraboo. I'm too picky - like, it works out better for me to ust go look for waht I want.

Hm... say, does anyone know of an artist who's available to do a four-chara 'family portrait' style picture? The children aren't human- they're very animalistic... and the parents are relatively easy to draw.
Anyway, I have given up looking in the R&C, because the prices there are just exorbitant. O_O

*stops by in a hurry* stressed Hi guys! I just found this: http://fan.akitsu.nu/jemmy/I did the purple haired chibi headshot, without the text. It was a gaia comission for 5k and and I had no idea he was going to use it as a banner for some website/fanclub. I wish he would have told me and linked to my e-mail somewhere. It's okay I would'nt have said no if he had asked but this was in fact written in my shop rules: Quote: # Do not steal or copy my art, it belongs to me. That goes for both samples and banners. Removing my signature Chemie from my art is not allowed. # The art you receive from me is for your personal use at gaiaonline only. If you want to use my pictures otherwise, making a profit out of them, please discuss that whith me and we agree upon a price. (ex: webdesign, prints for sale, advertising or other publicity) He did remove my signature, edit the picture (add text) and used it outside of gaia. :/ I can't remember his username so I don't know what to do really. EDIT: Okay I found his e-mail I'm on it.

I hate to say lazy, but.. quickly sketched in. Nothing detailed.

*didn't know where else to put this*
Hi, I recently went to an artshop where I'm sure he's selling stolen bases cause I have seen them before, but I couldn't find the link to the original store of the real owner. I thought since this is an art guild maybe one of you guys have seen them around.
Here's a link to a thread I made about it in the Q & A I'm talking about the pets in the first link. But in the second link you can see that he has copied pics from Animes as you can see on the second page of my thread.
I was just wondering if any of you happened to have the link to the original pet shop thread. If not then at least I upped my post count. blaugh

Overall, I like woe's ranking system.
Style can't really be judged, except where their product doesn't look like what they were offering and even then it'd be more consistency. I think the ebay system works, having a positive/neutral/negative rating system, followed by a comment section where they can write why they rated the way they did.
