S1L3N7 SH4D0W What would be a good way to learn fingerings? I've been participating in some sort of music for quite a long time. A very long time, and I still can't read notes easily, or remember all the fingerings.
Whenever I play a song well, its only due to long periods of breaking in the music, and memorizing it slowly as I, or the people next to me play. I recently found that on 8notes.com, it's got a little note-learner for brass. It's under 'extras', then at the bottom under 'tests & games', so if you ever have a few minutes on the computer or want to practice but can't or whatever, check it out. I think it's quite nice.

MacNak_Attack Teh Lost Soul MacNak_Attack whats it like to play a pocket trumpet? It takes a little getting used to with how close you valves are to your face.. and The mouthpiece I got with it is a little smaller but other then that it's not really that much different then a rugualr trumpet. does it play higher notes like a piccalo compared to a flute? or is it in the same key... and does it really fit in your pocket? A pocket trumpet sounds the same as a regular trumpet, the tubing is just wrapped up tighter and closer, but there's the same length overall. And I suppose if you had huge guy pants pockets it probably could just fit. My middle school band director had one he brought in a few times.

I have a regular, school-standard brass. I drive my parents nuts with it, I couldn't play much until I got a mute. Best instrument ever!

hi!!!!!!! I'm Ry!!!
well im new to this guild and i wanna say its good to be here!!! smile i luv band .... i played 2 years in middle school but cant play anymore in my current high school [its so small it doesnt have a band or a sport sad ] well anyways .... i only have one trumpet, i have no idea wat size my mouthpiece is, and i hardly take it out from time to time but i luvs it anyway!!!
and a lot of post have been about memorizing keys. all i have to say is ....
look at the music and practice the keys without playing the trumpet. and dont try to do the whole thing at once ... its like trying to memorize the spelling be list ... take it one word at a time .... in other words try to memorize the fingerings for 8 notes at a time biggrin
hopefully that helps sumone razz

I love my trumpet with a passion unknown to man.
It is disgousting, I named it trumpet. {How Ironic}
It is wayyy older than me, and my mum.
It is 45 years old! And dented, rusty, it was welded with another part before from a crack, it gets very spit-tastic!
Buttt.... I still love it, even though people make fun of it, and kick it.

"JERKS" Mine is definetly not that old. But I love it all the same. I don't know what I named mine, but I do talk to it. Must be a Band Geek thing.
